CMLL FSE #15

Link now works.

taped 11/12/06, aired 11/19/06

This was the last televised Wagner vs Atlantis match. I happened to watch this when I was killing some time last weekend and was annoyingly too far away from the internet, so I had no idea they were announcing this week’s match about the same time. This match was fine for Arena Coliseo but I’m not sure would fly in Arena Mexico – the usual cheap heat mask work and a more active final five minutes. I’m not sure what the point is on putting the attention on the referee when that’s leading now here, but I’m not all that surprised by it. Atlantis got ripped off!

Cibernetico was your normal average cibernetico, but it got turned up a bit for the last section. If I was watching this live, I would’ve been absolutely sure Sagrado won the match on the moonsault. The ending sequence was really good too. There was some nice production work for this match – I don’t get a chance to say that nearly enough, so I want to make sure I point it out here.

The DVD should have the 11/26 and it lists the 11/26 show on the DVD, it just won’t play it. I should have a copy of the title match, and I guess I’ll just skip the trios match.

CMLL CAN52 GdR #77

taped 05/04 and 05/06, aired 05/12

This was a lame weekend, it turned out. The opener was just an angle to explain Virus turn – which happened 11 days ago! We kinda got the idea, and it’s not like it’s much of a surprise when he’s teaming with the opposition two days later. We could’ve skipped thru.

Main event was a pinch above Going Thru The Motions. I prefer to call Doing Just Enough.

05/20 Congress Theater show

I keep forgetting about this show, but since it’s only 3 days away, I think I should post it already.

FMLL (SUN) 05/20 Congress Theatre Lineup
4) Hijo de Rey Misterio, Rayo Lazer vs Lucifer, Aguila del America
5) Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Mascara Sagrada vs Angel Blanco Jr., Satanico

There’s a thread on the show at CPW.

$25 is crazy for this lineup – who’s supposed to be the draw here? $35 for ringside – that’s 377 pesos (more than they were charging for the anniversary show!) – has no chance. I like Satanico, I’ve seen Satanico, I’m seeing Satanico on TV every weekend once or twice it seems, I’m not paying $25 to see him when he’s the top guy I care about on the card.

I’m going to be in the city anyway at the Cubs/Sox game and could make it if this was something super. Rayo and Sagrada are quite the opposite.

05/15: Mistico still not wrestling, Monterrey

El Sol del Baijo

CMLL (TUE) 05/15 Palenque de la Feria de Celaya [El Sol del Baijo]
1) Bam Bam & Ultimo Dragonicto b Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Dark Angel & Lady Apache b Amapola & Princesa Sujei
3) Blue Demon Jr., La Mascara, Volador Jr. b Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

Mistico did NOT wrestle, but did appear to explain his injury and sign autographs for a half hour. Looks like he’s out of the sling, at least for this picture.

indy (TUE) 05/15 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Burrico & Mini Tequila b Burrito & Mini Burrito
2) Hollywood & Toro Blanco b Black Sabath & Corazon Adicto
3) Gitano del Norte, Mr. Vega, Rey Hechicero b Bengali, Black Soul, Cats
4) Chuy Oviedo, Ejecutor, Pancho Tequila b Angel del Amor, Golden Boy, La Kalaka
5) 5X, Apostol, Tigre Universitario b Anibal el Vampiro, Memo Valles, Silver Star
6) Sky L Konnan Big, Casanova, Vudu [hair]

Konnan Big beat Sky, who wasn’t listed in the original match lineup.

Universion/Galavision’s press release about it’s next season includes a paragraph on lucha libre

“Lucha Libre” and “Lucha de Vuelta” Some of the best known wrestlers in the AAA and CMLL confederations bring their trademarked acrobatic moves and colorful costumed antics into the ring every weekend on Galavisión. (Saturday, 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., and Sunday, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. ET/PT)

I wouldn’t read anything into the CMLL mention. Probably the same blurb they use every year. “Confederations”? I guess if few people are under contract, that’s actually correct.

Wrestlers in Coahuila are complaining about the lack of insurance and movement on that issue. No quotes from the promoters or the commissioners or any sign of contacting them, despite both being ripped here.

Sentidog has a review of a move called Super Amigos, a documentary on social conscious lucha libre wrestlers as super heroes. Super Barrio, Super Animal, Fray Tormenta, Ecologista Universal, and Super Gay are profiled.

No Coliseo results. No IWRG website.

CMLL FSE #40

Link is right now. I am a moron.

taped 05/05, aired 05/13

Was this the Coliseo show with the really low attendance? This felt like a show with low attendance, and everyone taking it down a gear. It wasn’t mailing it in, but it wasn’t full speed otherwise.

Infernales came off in ring better in their first match, though they’re still being booked as dominant here. Nosferatu definitely looked more Chamaco Valaguez like here.
