GDR CAN52 #75

taped 04/20, 04/22, aired 04/28

So this episode had matches, but it also had the much more fun game of Who’s Under That Mask? Would you like to play? Here’s the New (4.0?) Infernales debut match.

I was trying to think back, and I’m not sure I’ve actually seen a Sobearno match. Euforia fits his body; he’s a lean guy, and based on one whole match, he’s the better worker of the two. I’m not sure Nosferatu is Chamaco, he doesn’t seem to quite fit, but no alternate name jumps out at me.

Satanico’s quite probably been working with these two before they debuted on TV, because they seemed like they had ideas and sets of moves ready to go and didn’t need much discussion to get things done. This was a fine enough debut.

The Evil Dark Monkey could’ve have been Tzuki originally, but it quite obviously couldn’t have been him this Friday (I saw him with my own eyes in Aurora), and I don’t think it was him for this match. You can’t tell a body size under the costume, but his limbs seemed longer than Tzuki’s. I’m guessing it’s a tecnico mini, because he doing agile bits, but not rudo-ing it up.

  1. Hmmm… wonder who it could be. The easy tell if it’s Tzuki is always the double jump on springboards b/c he isn’t tall enough. Was the monkey smaller than the second rope or was it a taller mini this time?

  2. Thanks for the match. I liked it way more than it seems you did. The two triple team moves the Infernales did to Valiente were amazing. In fact, until the last move of the match, Valiente looked unreal. He got whipped towards the wrong ropes and almost slipped up top but still managed to hit his gorgeous moonsault dive! That has to be the gutsiest dive in the world right now. Possibly ever to be quite honest. Leono didn’t look too bad but I’m still not sold on him.

The Infernales were pretty solid as a unit. Euforia looked really good as you mentioned. He definitely seems like the ex-Soberano. If he ever busts out an Atlantida variation we’ll know for sure. Nosferatu… I dunno. It seemed like he was working to his full potential in there but was still a couple steps slow at some points and he was definitely supposed to catch Leono on that third fall dive but blew it. He didn’t do anything overly embarassing though.

Overall… very good match and a solid debut. I wonder if the promotion is gonna take it slowly with these guys or immediatly thrust them into a feud with Averno, Mephisto and Efesto? If they get the mega-push, I could see them taking one set of belts from Los Perros before the year comes to a close.

With all these trios teams you would have to figure a trios tournament is coming up at Arena Mexico sometime soon. Of course, first thing is first – Gran Alternativa in May.

  3. Euforia is Soberano Jr, I heard he worked with the gimmick in his Arena in Torreon and apparently made no efforts to hide the mask change.

  4. I pretty much agree with Rob — good stuff, great Valiente action and a sweet double-team submission.

  5. Any chance of anyone uploading matches from AAA Rey De Reyes on Dailymotion? Hate to ask, but I went to St. Louis for Lockdown and forgot to set the Tivo.

  6. Was there a particular match you wanted to see? The whole show would probably be more work than I’d want to do.
