03/23-25 Lucha Times

My cable system has taken away CAN52. I think I can subscribe to a package that’ll get it back for me (and probably FSE as well), but I’m not sure it’s worth it. This would naturally mean the end of GdR recaps (and related DVDs.) I figure I got till Friday to decide (because Comcast takes a day or two to get in gear for this sort of thing), so I’ll let you know then.

GdR: Leono! But not the hair match. Koslov/Mascara/Volador vs Averno/Ephesto/Mephisto should be fun. I dislike Ephesto more than YOU dislike Mascara.

FSE: Leono! The hair match – FS-Latin America is listing it on their lineups, so there you go.

AAAUS: WSX LIVES. Nate Webb and Josh Raymond’s match matches this taping – watch for Josh getting KOed. Main is the 4 on 3 between the Hell Brothers and the Vipers, and leaves me happy, though the screaming girls may beg to differ.

AAAMEX: 03/10 taping. See if you can figure out who Aventurero is. Vipers/Tecnicos main event.

CMLLMEX
03/18 Coliseo: Felino, Mictlan, Valiente vs Loco Max, Misterioso II, Mr. Mexico
03/23 Mexico: Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero vs Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Perro Aguayo Jr.
03/23 Mexico: Marco Corelone, Mistico, Shocker vs Black Warrior, Olimpico, Universo 2000

At least that’s the theory. Assuming next Friday is a PPV (again, no official word, but that’s normal now), they’re going to want to stretch these tapings over a couple weeks. I’m sure the main will air, but maybe they’ll hold back the semimain for next week.

This is also a reminder that the weekend after the PPV, when the following Friday’s lineup comes out, remember that it was booked with the knowledge most of it wouldn’t air, because they’ll be doing the free PPV replay instead.

03/21: Coliseo, Naucalpan, Monterrey

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 03/18 Arena Coliseo
1) Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein b Starman, Super Nova, Trueno
2) Felino, Mictlan, Valiente b Loco Max, Misterioso II, Mr. Mexico
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Alex Koslov, La Mascara, Volador Jr.
4) Leono b Mogur [hair]
5) Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Mistico b Black Warrior, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero

Bit more stacked Coliseo card than usual, at least in terms of the first two matches. Or, I guess you could look at it as the opener getting bumped for the hair match. Mogur’s family was at the show – sad for them. Mistico got Ultimo clean with La Mistica. Averno pinned Volador in the tercera after a foul.

CMLL (TUE) 03/20 Arena Coliseo
1) Bracito de Oro & Mini Fantasy b Mini Halloween & Mini Mr. Aguila
2) Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein b Danger, Sombra de Plata, Trueno
3) Amapola, La Nazi, Rosa Negra b India Sioux, Lady Apache, Marcela
4) Eclipse, Misterioso II, Olimpico b La Mascara, Mictlan, Virus
5) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Dr. Wagner Jr., Fabian el Gitano, Heavy Metal

Amapola beat Lady Apache. Shocker no-showed. The sun rose in the east, and set in the west.

Looks like the Trio of Terror is getting a legit push; Averno pinned Wagner here after a mask pull.

IWRG (SUN) 03/18 Arena Naucalpan
1) Celestial b Diablo Jr.
2) Black Jaguar & Vampiro Metalico b Samba & Venom
3) Kai, Kid Tiger, Yamato b Black Jaguar, Macho II, Supremo Jr.
4) Black Terry, Trauma I, Trauma II b Efinge, Freelance, Suicida
5) Fantasma de la Opera b Cerebro Negro, Pierroth Jr., El Dandy, Villano III, Veneno, Alex Koslov, Dr. Cerebro, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Bestia Salvaje [IWRG IC WELTER, cage]

Came down to Villano III (hair), Dandy (MEX LH), Cerebro Negro (IWRG WELTER) and Fantasma de la Opera (mask). Villano III and Dandy got out first, and they’re still teasing that match. Cerebro Negro went to escape, but Black Terry spit something into his face, and that was the end of Cerebro Negro. Black Terry got the win the semimain with his feet on the ropes, so it was a good day to be Black Terry. We probably should’ve known this from the get go – anytime you’re teaming with the Unbeatable Traumas, it’s a good day.

IWRG (SUN) 03/25 Arena Naucalpan
1) Celstial & Zella vs Comando Gama & Vampiro Metalico
2) Antaris & Bacteria vs Black Thunder & Narcosatanico I
3) Esfinge, Kai, Yamato vs Hijo del Diablo, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Freelance, Suicida, Turbo vs Fantasma de la Opera, Pierroth Jr., Veneno
5) Dandy, Mascara Sagrada, Sagrado vs Damian 666, Misterioso II, Villano III

indy (TUE) 03/20 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Corazon Adicto & Erin Sanke b Armagedon & Marrullero
2) Borrico & Mini Burro b Angel Negro & Beto Alcala
3) Burrito & La Bandida b La Bestia & Tequilita
4) Al Barone, Pancho Tequila, Potro Jr b Black Dragon, Casanova, Huracan Ramirez Jr.
5) Axxel, Humberto Garza Jr., Super Konnan b Hijo de Espanto II, Nygma, Picudo
6) Ragaltio & Raton b Konnan Big

Lost my link list due to a power outage, so hopefully I don’t forget something good…
– Ovaciones has a blurb about Hector Garza and Shocker (in theory) being involved with a TV show called “La Ruleta de la Muerte” in April. I’ve read the bit ten times and still have no idea what’s going on, but I think they’re doing a lucha Fight Club thing. Or it may be a music video. Or it may be something else.
Laredo Kid received an award for best luchador of Nuevo Laredo in 2006.
– a writer at Bolpress recalls working on a never completed autobiography with Huracan Ramirez.
Guerreros del Ring #79 has the Hellbrothers. Chessman appears to be drooling blood.

WWE guys hit Mexico today, so there should be amusing stories the rest of the week. Rey Misterio was scheduled to appear on these shows, dunno if that’s still on.

Lineup from box y lucha. Konnan and Cibernetico will be in their team’s corners in the main event. It’s a mystery Legion team in the segunda. Kenzo/Hiroka was suggested, but I don’t think Hiroka is wrestling any more (and never did much to begin with.) Maybe people from TNA? Maybe random US indy people? Not a clue.

No tapings past this one have been announced yet.

CMLL on FSE #4 (09/03/06)

Matches taped 08/27/06

So, the day that post went up saying I’m taking a break from recapping for a while, the last five months of CMLL FSE turns up in my mailbox. I couldn’t decide if that was in fact the greatest thing ever, or cruel punishment from the lucha gods.

What I did decide is to leave AAA on the backburner for a bit, and run thru some of these episodes to catch up. As you’ll see as I start posting them, I decided to recap each and every episode to start, but I’m not sure it’s going to stick that way, or I may just do it in bunches, leave them along for a while, and then do another bunch.

This episode had an ordinary Arena Mexico segunda match that just happened to be the Arena Coliseo tercera (need a shorter/catchier name for that) and one of those Perro/Mistico matches were the crowd reaction made the match great than it actually was.
