03/17: Mexico, lineups, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 03/16 Arena Mexico [ova, superluchas, ESTO]
1) Polvora & Vaquero b Sombra de Plata & Super Nova
2) Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Luna Magica, Sahori
3) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso Jr. b Felino, Lizmark Jr., Mictlan
4) Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000 b Heavy Metal, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Alex Koslov, Marco Corleone, Shocker DQ Damian 666, Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Perro fouled Marco. Sounds like the Perros were cheered over the new tecnico group. Ocampo says they were NOT announced as High Society.

Lizmark Jr. filled in for Blue Panther in the tercera, and they teased a rudo turn after the loss.

CMLL.com says Averno, Mephisto and Ephisto want a shot at the CMLL trios titles. So, as you’d quite expect, the trios champs are teaming up next week to fight a completely different unit. Wait, no, that makes absolutely no sense.

Lineups

5) Marco Corelone, Mistico, Shocker vs Black Warrior, Olimpico, Universo 2000

At least the main event builds up the big show, sorta. I was worried about that. This is the show that’s running against WWE in DF.

  1. CMLL (FRI) 03/23 Arena Mexico
    1) Mini Olimpico & Ultimo Dragoncito vs Mini Violencia & Pierrothito

Have never seen CMLL mini’s. If they are anything like AAA mini’s I’ll love this.

    2) Leono, Maximo, Sagrado vs Goto, Ohara, Okumura

Maximo and Sagrado I like. The rest either haven’t seen or not enough of.

    3) Alex Koslov, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II

Rey/Volador as a team rules. The Mephisto/Misterioso II team is awesome too. Haven’t seen enough of Koslov yet and Ephesto none yet.

    4) Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero vs Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Perro Aguayo Jr.

Awesome match. Love both teams and will defiantely enjoy this match.

    5) Marco Corelone, Mistico, Shocker vs Black Warrior, Olimpico, Universo 2000

Nice teams. I love the idea of Shocker/Mistico as a team. And facing off against Olimpico/Warrior. Plus you get Corleone/Universo. Good main event.

Overall a good show with some very cool matchups especially matches four and five.

Also, found a place to watch the CMLL today. And the AAA tommorrow. Hopefully it works, I’m really excited.

  2. Ultimo Dragoncito is pretty good as I recall — or at least I have good memories of a match he had against Pierrothito a few years back.

  3. JEQUE?!?!?! That’s outta nowhere. They gonna have Leono take his mask too? Why isn’t Mogur on any of the cards?;)

Oh boy… Mascara Sagrada. You’d think it couldn’t get any worse for CMLL this week and then you see his name on the cards.

    La Mascara.
    Mictlan.
    Mascara Sagrada.
    Ogun.
    Ohara.
    Goto.
    Luna Magica.
    La Medusa.
    Perro Aguayo Jr..
    Apocalipsis.
    Eclipse.
    Okumura.
    Princesa Blanca.
    Lizmark Jr..

I think the day has finally come where CMLL doesn’t have the most talented roster in the world when you see all those names booked in one week. Congratulations Salazar and company!

  4. If you haven’t read O’Campo’s writeup of last night’s CMLL show, it’s well worth a read.

  5. *LMAO* The women setup such a cool spot on the CMLL TV opener today and then Luna Magica blew it by being such a fatass.

  6. Very neat move set up. I’m not sure what Luna Magica was going for. If she landed on Medusa wrong she would’ve broke her back. Neat attempt though.

I’m excited for the Guerreros del Atlantida match today. Sangre Azteca is involved so I’m really happy.

Plus it’s really awesome watching matches that happened last night (the womens match was earlier this week) instead of being months behind.

  7. They just had a commercial for what I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) were masks for your thumb. For thumb wrestling. Dr. Wagner Jr. lost to some little kid and the kid was making him take his mask off and it was at Arena Mexico. Too awesome for words.

  8. I had nothing better to do so ended up watching that match and man it was embarrassing. Like watching in slow motion.

If CMLL absolutely must have women as an attraction, they really need to follow AAA’s lead with mixed tags – only as trios without the exoticos – keep the best 3 or 4 women, sack the rest and match them up with Undercarder and mini’s in mixed tags – no matter how un-traditional it is. The exoticos in AAA could be replaced by a 2nd

Thats 20 past the hour. 1 hr 25 minutes of the show to go and they’ll show 2 15 minute matches. Utterly pathetic.

  9. Neither of the two matches left went longer than 12 minutes.:)

    So far we’ve had:
    – Announcers talking.
    – Perro Jr. interview.
    – 6 minute womens match.
    – Hype for the boxing.
    – More hype for the boxing.
    – Fan of the week.
    – Momentos.
    – Lineups of the week.

    It’s an infomercial!:D

  10. So we could have a 1hr 45 minute show with little more than 25 minutes of action on it, because that crap on earlier couldn’t have went much longer than 5 minutes….

In fact, make that 15 minutes once you cut out all the stalling and posing for cheers from fans.

    Unbelievable…. :(

  11. Well i suppose the fact that momentos was AWESOME is some slight consolation for the general all round shittyness of this TV show! :)

  12. I love the backstage stuff. Like Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, and Sangre Azteca dressed up.

I had to eat and missed Momentos….I’m sad.

Awesome music for Voldar Jr. “Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode(I think that’s who sings it). And Heavy Metal’s quick metal song is gone. He’s still awesome.

  13. Complete victory for the rudos. Very cool match. I loved the Azteca/Volador Jr stuff. Sagrado pinning Atlantis was awesome as was his moonsault. I really liked this match.

  14. 3 spots from the opener;

    – a combination of a Molotov tope over the top and Valiente beating Caligula with the same hold he submitted SuperNova with in the Reyes Del Aire

Caligula holding Molotov over the edge of the ring -like the spot in the womens match earlier and the one where Ramstein usually vaults over with a legdrop. Only, Apocolypsis vaulted over and just pretty much sat on him – like the move Universo sometimes hits off the top (and used at the end of that last match)

    – Valiente hitting the alley-oop assisted springboard somersault plancha to Caligula. Insane.

    – Leono and Mictlan hitting double dives – Mistico style corscrew plancha and tope suicida, whilst Virus wrapped Okamura i think it was up in some crazy Panther/Navarro type submission

    – and finally, your average Black warrior tope of death.

Like i said, awesome – and all from unaired matches. They should show 3 clips of the opener EVERY single week!

That semi-main was pretty solid btw. Nice little match for what it was.

  15. Hijo Del Perro Aguayo was amazing in the main event. The match was good too. But Perrito chasing the camera man was awesome. Koslov’s dive was awesome. I always like Corleone’s ramp dive over the top rope into the ring. The end was really funny with Corleone and Perro Jr.

This is the first CMLL show I’ve seen of 2007 and loved it. The womans match was pretty good, the second match was great and I liked the main event a lot.

  16. Any Valiente spots = a good week for Momentos.:) Apocalipsis, much like Luna Magica, is such a fatass.

  17. Well, they would appear to be advertising the top 3 Arena Mex matches next week.

Normally that would mean no Coliseo segunda – which involves Valiente next week. So i’m thinking (well, hoping) that they can ‘squeeze’ in all 4 matches as the listings have CMLL down as having a full 2hrs next week. In which case, it could be a great show.

Surely to hell they can’t pad it out with another 15 minutes of total shit.

  18. Where is L.A. Park? I don’t remember seeing his name on any of the CMLL shows lately. Maybe I just haven’t looked close enough. Thanks for any help.
