GdR #66

aired 02/24

Mogur’s doing this feud with Leono because:
– Loco Max lost his hair on June 5th
– Mr. Mexico lost his hair on August 7th
– Okumura lost his hair on June 18th
– Emilio Charles Jr. lose his hair on October 29th

That’s about it for unmasked midcard rudos who on TV even close to regularly. (Ohara’s a special case.) They must like Leono, but not enough to actually have him beat a guy for a mask, and Mogur was around, so…Also, both Mogur and Leono are cat people. That’s vital.

Is there any special appeal of Mogur I’m missing? Is there something in his work I should pay more attention to?

I know this seems like my solution to everything, but a minor title feud would probably be better than this. I don’t think there’s any drama in this feud, and there’s not much else.

CMLL

Ovaciones dismisses the idea of Mistico going to WWE, saying he’s locked into a contract with CMLL. I’m glad that’s over. (not) It is nice people are daring to mention it. Ovaciones actual point here is suggesting that major companies respect each other’s contracts, which they should but – it’s the WWE, they don’t.

CMLL (SUN) 03/04 Arena Coliseo [cmll, ova]
1) Mini Olimpico & Shockercito b Fire & Sombrita
2) Fabian el Gitano, Starman, Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein
3) Leono, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Hijo de Pierroth, Mogur, Mr. Mexico
4) Olimpico, Pierroth, Universo 2000 b Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Marco Corleone
5) Mistico, Shocker, Volador Jr. b Averno, Black Warrior, Mephisto

Universo fouled Marco to pick up the win that match. Befor the tercera, Mogur said he’d only agree to a hair match with Leono if Leono beat him clean – so Leono did.

IWRG (SUN) 03/04 Arena Naucalpan [ova]
1) Aguila Oriental & Celestial b Extrano & Mr. Randal
2) Airon Boy & Antaris b Sadico & Vampiro Metalico
3) Kai, King Boy, Yamato b Kraneo, Peligro, Sadico
4) Bestia Salvaje, Black Terry, Veneno b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida
5) El Dandy DQ Villano IV

IV replaced III in the main event. Dandy claims Villano III is a coward. Rudos left the tecnicos(/IWRG Trios champs) bloody in the semimain.

Hoy Laredo hypes up a match between Konan Big and Mario Bezares tonight in Arena Cuartro Caminos.

Torreon’s Box Y Lucha Comission is shutting down shows starting next weekend if everyone doesn’t get licensed. They’re allowing people to license at the arena on Monday and Thursday, but after that, everyone’s in trouble. (El Siglo de Torreon) Someone at this paper should maybe ask a promoter or a wrestler about this at some point – why aren’t they licensed? If the commission is a powerless group that just rants to the newspaper, that’s a story too.

indy (SUN) 03/04 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) La Pulga & Ricochet b La Furia & Payaso Loco
2) Corrico, Gardenia, Rosa Salvaje b Armageddon, Burrito, Rey Apostol
3) Difunto I & Difunto II b Corazon Adicto & Sky and Androide & Rey Sagitario
4) Hijo de Espanto II, Pancho Tequila, Potro Jr. b Black Dragon, El Original, Golden Boy
5) Konnan Big b Axxel, Hijo de Solitario, Hijo de Anibal [FILL MIDDLE]

As I read it, Axxel filled in for Rayo de Jalisco Jr., who missing absence when he was due to lose a title, huh. Axxel was FILL Middleweight Champion, who knew? Konnan Big picks up the title, so he’s been FILL Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, and Middleweight champion over a short time, and in that order. Did Monterrey put in Wellness Program?

AAA (SUN) 03/04 Plaza de Toros La Esperanza [marcomejia2, rfc]
1) Rey Imagen & Virutal X b Euforia & Iron
2) Orus & The Mummy b Apolo Negro & Ben Hur
3) Mini Chessman & Mini Psicosis b Mini Path Finder & Octagoncito
4) Humberto Garza Jr. & Xochitl Hamada b Miss Janeth & Rey Infernal
5) Antifaz, Cirujano, Jordy Stone b Corazon de Barrio, El Brazo, Mascara Divina
6) Brazo de Plata, Chessman, Octagon b Fuerza Guerrera, Hator, Nicho

Magazines
Super Luchas 202 has Super Crazy picking up Mistico at the airport. Question for Mr. Ocampo: why do you post more of your magazine on Box Y Lucha’s forum than your own site? Super Luchas has your IWA-MS guys in AAA pictures, for those looking.
Luchas 2000 358 tease mask vs hair. They’re also teasing Lizmark Jr. rudo for what seems like the third or fourth time in the last year. Put aside that Ultimo could do a lot better than Lizmark Jr. – Julio Cesar Rivera would seem to be plugged in about these things, but this one has gotten stuck. Lucha 2000 Special 19 has moves moves moves.

I’ve figured out why Robert is getting different tag team results than I am – he’s reading a different recap (el martiente) than I am (Satanico’s Mansion.) One recap says Zumbido caused a double pin (which can’t be anything but a 1 point each draw), one recap says clean pin for Zumbido. Double pins are easy to miss if you’re not at the right angle or looking for ’em, so I tend to believe it’s a draw, but I’ll wait for AAA to confirm.

03/25 AAA TV lineup

Previous: 03/10 (lineup), 03/18 (lineup), 03/19 (lineup)

this is the second taping I’m posting today – see the previous one below and the change to the Rey de Reyes lineup

1) Gallego & Mr. Condor vs Chiva Rayada I & Chiva Rayada II
2) Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis

4) Alan Stone, Hator, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido vs Alebrije, Intocable, Oriental, Zorro
5) Cibernetico vs La Parka Jr. vs Nicho [bull terrier]

Air Date: (projected)
Mexico: 04/08
US: 04/28

That main event is interesting. If La Parka Jr. was ever going to go rudo, that would be the moment to do it. Neither of these two tapings (nor really Rey de Reyes) seem to be moving much along, but obviously that main event could shake things up.

Nice to see Lady Rabbit get her annual TV appearance. I have no idea what they’ll be doing with Reina de Reinas and I’m not sure it matters much. (Though Miss Janeth is back on TV and actually wearing the belt. Took 9 months.)

No Mexican Powers, no Consgrados, no Octagon for two weeks after Rey de Reyes. Hmmmmm. I’d trade the Mexican Powers for the Chivas any day.

Next taping is probably not until April, I’d guess.

03/19 AAA TV taping lineup

Previous: 03/03, 03/10 (lineup), 03/18 (lineup)

AAA TV (MON) 03/19 Domo De La Feria de Leon Lineup
1) Aero Star, Jesse, ? vs Ghefar, Policeman, Toxico
2) Pimpinela, Mascarita Sagrada, Sexi Star, Billy Boy vs Polvo de Estrellas, Mini Abismo Negro, Fabi Apache, El Apache
3) Pegaso, Super Fly, Rey Cometa, Laredo Kid vs Cuervo, Scoria, Ozz, Espiritu
4) La Parka Jr., Elegido, Zorro, Super Porky vs Abimo Negro, Antifaz, Mr. Niebla, Histeria
5) Cibernetico, Chessman, Charly Manson vs Nicho, ?, ??

Air Date: (projected)
Mexico: 04/01
US: 04/21

I hope that’s not a typo and Mascarita Sagrada is back and healthy. It’s Mini Abismo on the other side, so I imagine so.

This is one day after Rey de Reyes, so they’ll be backlogging TV tapings again. This is an off Monday for TNA – no taping, so the guys who worked the night before will be available to be the mystery guys on this show. As usual, the mystery guys in the main event are unnamed Foreign Legion members.

First time four of Fuerza Aerea have been together since last summer, because of Laredo Kid’s elevation and the AAA Tag Tournament. Nemesis isn’t there, but Pegasso has been treated like an official member of the group. Looks like Sexi Star – new spelling? typo? who can say – is going to be a regular.

Card seems short a match – maybe because we’ve no longer got a tag team tournament, maybe because that opener is dark match material. There’s going to be some long matches, or a lot of filler.

Note Gronda II going back to being Ghefar – there’s been talk lately that Groon might turn up back here, but he (predictably) wants too much money.

CMLL guys are running this building on 03/09, with Mistico/Rey/Metal vs Perro/Garza/Aguila.

Next taping is 03/25.
