Ramstein and Astro Boy were tearing masks in their match.

The Marco/Alex/Rey vs Atlantis/Ultimo/Universo Arena Mexico semifinal is now listed as a Relevos Increible – I don’t remember that being there when the lineups went up. Maybe not a tecnico turn?

Hijo del Santo says he was contacted by WWE, but turned down the offer because he wanted to remain an independent. He may not return to Arena Mexico until late in the year,, he thinks it’s far too soon to compare Mistico to his father – Mistico’s got to make some movies first. Santo says his Cartoon Network show is for 15 episodes. (Ovaciones)

Ovaciones also has an updated lineup for today’s IWRG card:

IWRG (THU) 02/22 Arena Naucalpan Results
1) Mr. Randal vs Volcan Negro
2) Antaris, Kai, Yamato vs Black Jaguar, Black Stone, Vampiro Metalico
3) Coco Blanco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde vs Macho II, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Freelance vs Avisman [IWRG IC WELTER]
5) Bestia Salvaje vs Villano III, Electroshock, Black Pentagon, El Dandy, Hijo del Diablo, Fantasma de la Opera, Suicida [hair, mask, IWRG IC MIDDLE]

The whole undercard changed – maybe Nosawa and Kaz can’t make it now and they shuffled everything else. That title match was originally scheduled for Sunday. That match got changed to a tag match with hair and the title on the line, adding Black Terry and Suicida – guess he isn’t losing his hair tonight.

Does “Mr. Randal” have some dramatic meaning in Mexico? Such an odd name for a wrestler.

WWA (FRI) 02/23 Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno Lineup [Sol de Tijuana]
1) Angel Negro Jr., Silver Star vs Thunder Mask, Thunderbird
2) Depredador, Fobia, King Azteca vs Black Spider, Rubi Gardenia, Super Astro
3) Blue Demon Jr. vs Dos Caras Jr., Espectro Jr., Hijo de Rey Misterio, Infierno, Mil Mascaras, Olimpico, Coco Rojo, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Tinieblas, Super Muneco, Volador Jr. [mask]

This was the show I was thinking of last week. It’s Espectro or Infierno, right? Right.

3) Golden Boy b Black Diamond
4) Pancho Tequila b Hijo de Senor Tormenta
5) Humberto Garza Jr. & Ultraman Jr. b Medico Asesino Jr. & Potro Jr.

The next VIP card is supposed to be announced tomorrow (Ovaciones); Coco Rojo/Super Muneco for the masks has been rumored (which means they’re not losing in Tijuana.) Over on Superluchas, Migrejok responds to responses about a column critical of the VIP concept.

Box Y Lucha 2806 has Mistico, Televisa Deportes winner.

CMLL and Mexico Secretary of Health are partnering in a campaign against tuberculosis. Atlantis and Damian spoke at a clinic about the condition. Even rudos are against infectious diseases. (Ovaciones – pretty good day for them.)

La Presna has a basic preview of the 02/22 AAA TV taping.

Has Kenzo jumped to AAA? They’re always looking for more members of the Foreign Legion. I would put him ahead of Head Hunter I.

  1. The VIP argument at the ByL board got me so confused that I had to ask Chui to explain. It’s a valid argument but honestly… why bother arguing about Super Muneco and Coco Rojo? Who cares about either? And why is it a fraude every time Mistico has a mask match b/c we KNOW he’s going to win but nobody is calling this a fraude even though Super Muneco ain’t losing. Not to mention both are in a mask match tomorrow night as well.

Since Muneco/Rojo is signed, I guess Inferno is losing his mask barring a last second substitution.

There used to be an awesome indy worker named MR. ROBERT. He was my hero. There is a photo of Mr. Randal over on The Gladiatores and he looks nothing like a Mr. Randal.

  2. Oh you know what… maybe Coco Rojo is losing his mask in Tijuana to Super Muneco tomorrow. Migrejok is trying to make the point that the VIP crowd aren’t typical Lucha fans and wouldn’t know the difference between Mistico and Mixteco so how would they possibly know/care that they are witnessing a fraude since one guy lost his mask a week earlier.

  3. That should be on the commission, not the promoters. If the promoters can find people dumb enough to pay extra for a ripoff, then I’m not sure I blame them.

  4. Finally, some of the Freelance vs. Avisman series should make it to TV (!?!) and rest of the re-shuffle looks pretty solid too. I just hope someone is taping it then sending it north.

  5. One guy posted the “Rey de Reyes 2007” card and it does have Kenzo and the final of the tag tourney… still, I don’t know if it is genuine or just what the guy wants to see.

  6. According to Hiroko’s latest columns, Kenzo had his visa cancelled without even knowing it, and following his friend Rey Mysterio’s advice, he contacted AAA to market himself and was welcomed by the CEO. It seems that now he is in the final process of getting his visa through AAA, though there is no mention as to when he will start to work.
