CMLL GDR - 11/25/06 (#53)
Recapped:
12/10/06

Hey, it's Mistico's music video.

Person Who Lost Their Mask: Rey Bucanero. I bet it'll turn out to be Rey Bucanero. Hey, I have that mask. No, like that mask - it looks like someone bought it for Rey off the street five minutes ago.

Match 1: Arkangel, Loco Max, Sangre Azteca (c) vs Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Texano Jr. (c)
Arena Mexico, 11/16/06

  1. Tecnicos
  2. Rudos
  3. Tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:26
Approx Rating: Not good, definite below average for this spot.
Other Match Notes: Loco Max is superman here for reasons only really clear to Loco Max. Texano does seem like the most responsible guy in the tecnico trio. I mean, Fabian has dance fever and Leono still has the huge gloves for no reason.

1: Fabian and Arkangel got the long stretch again each other. They neither embarrassed nor impressed. Sangre and Texano got lesser time, and they did impress. It never quite occurred to me how small Leono is, but when you see that he's not that much taller than Loco Max, that's small. They're okay in their short exchange. Leono climbing enziguri and submission hold leads the other four to get in the ring. As they're setting up dives, Loco actually gives up to the time killing abdominal stretch. Fabian uses the ropes for a tope con giro on Arkangel, and Texano gets a big sit down powerbomb Sangre Azteca for the fall.  Isn't really a match till Sangre tries to break his neck, and the way he's grabbing it here, mission accomplished.

2: They're trying to have Fabian act like every CMLL midcard tecnico ever, and he's not agile enough to pull it off, and it's neglecting his size. Texano works with Sangre as well as he's worked with anyone, but that may be Texano. Leono gets tripped up by Sangre when fighting with Loco Max, and there starts the beatdown, about three minutes in. Texano takes the double press onto Loco Max's boots. Sangre gives Leono a middle rope atomic butt drop, I guess. Look painful. That's it for him. Arkangel returns the dive from Fabian earlier with one of his own.  Are they going for the countout? I Guess Texano's disappeared. Yea, they grab Arkangel and get the countout.

3: Rudo beatdown continues on, of course. Texano first, Leono for some corner moves (and a horrible pumphandle slam bit from Arkángel.) Fabian sorta gets a double boot to the head on the apron, but Arkangel slips on that. Texano back in for a second. Back to Leono, and they're running out of things to do. Ah, there's the lazy missed clothesline, and Leono gets to dropkick them when they're not doing anything. Fabian in with a double dropkick of his own, and the crowd seems to turn on the match. A lot of standing around waiting for other people to do stuff. Now all the tecnicos are looking at part of the crowd. The comeback just ends, and it's suddenly Loco Max and Texano. Loco tries to get the crowd back into it. All of Loco's superman powers won't allow him to knock over Texano. Loco manages to trick Texano to diving to the floor, but Texano posts him. Sangre gets a plancha on Texano, taking him out. Loco has a wild top rope springboard moonsault to the floor. That leaves Arkangel and Fabian, and Fabian gets a blown cradle for three (or more one, and then two more). That's not good. Loco Max in, and dropkicking Fabian down. Bodyscissors try on Texano, but he verses it to a cristo, and we're done here. Crowd not happy

Match 2: Black Warrior (c), Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero vs Mistico (c), Ultimo Dragon, Volador Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 11/18/06

  1. Rudos
  2. Tecnicos
  3. Rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:05
Approx Rating: Fine for the time. Kinda surprising finish.
Other Match Notes: There's a valet who's essentially wearing a belt as shorts. It's a wide belt, but still. Volador is using Jump and doing the Cena hand wave. Mistico's wearing green and red today. In the pre-match interview, it sounds like he'd like a shot at Warrior's NWA Title or a mask/hair match. Warrior's latest wardrobe addition is a white tuxedo vest and bowtie. He's still go the yellow robe going too. In a shocking turn of events, he rushes Mistico and Monito.

1: Rudos make sure to work over Mistico and Monito. Monito is a serious hazard - either he gets beat up, or you get beat up saving him. Perhaps he needs to be left at home. Mistico spins on the floor after being booted out once, which I find great. Slingshot hold for a legdrop on Dragon, who's just sort of hear. Volador takes the jumping sit. Mistico and Volador get tired up for the Ultimo Guerrero Spinny Special - and that's it for them. Warrior unties Mistico's mask one more time for good measure. Split screen replay! Someone's break out the high tech tonight. It's a war with Televisa Deportes, for sure.

oh my god, Rey Bucanero IS Rey Bucanero

2: Warrior gallantly clears the path for the ring gear by back elbowing Mistico out of the picture. And them Warrior throws Mistico into the ring girl, which works out okay for him. Tarzan Boy and Ultimo Guerrero are busy using tag team maneuvers on Ultimo Dragon for some odd reason. Dragon ducks the low clothesline, Volador gets the dropkick, and Mistico - Mistico did something I didn't se. I would assume dropkick. That seems to be the way. Volador goes over the top with a tope con giro on Tarzan. Mistico gets in his tornillo, and both Ultimo are all that are left. Dragon gets in his 3 Kick Combo and Dragon Cutter with no problem. Uh, Warrior's the captain? Referees know and are counting him out, though no one else seems to be so aware. You can see them get to twenty, but it's tough.

3: Tecnico showcases. Volador first, racing Tarzan Boy and Ultimo Guerrero out of the ring before superkicking Warrior and leaving him for Mistico. Warrior actually starts to wrestle Mistico before getting out of the ring on a whip. On to Dragon and Tarzan instead. Dragon ends with his usual outsmarting spots on both the Guerreros, though he doesn't look as sharp as usual. Warrior tries to come in, Dragon takes him down, boot scrapes him, and tags Mistico, but Warrior is out before Mistico is in. Guerrero vs Mistico instead. Ultimo Guerrero tries to get the crowd to quiet down, which doesn't seem to work when Mistico's in there. Mistico off the ropes, and tossed down hard. Mistico ends up sending Ultimo out with a great looking twisting headscissors, and follow shim out to give him a springboard spinning headscissors to the floor. Mistico back in, and Tarzan takes a headscissors too. Warrior in, kicking Mistico down from behind. Corner whip, charge in splash, but Mistico moves out of the way. Drop toe hold onto the ropes, 619 is ducked, Warrior tries him up, Warrior 619 connects!! Wheel kick sends out Mistico, and Warrior starts running - thru the ropes toe con giro! The other four all in, Volador attempting for a fancy springboard move but Ultimo crotching him in the corner, and killing him with the Guerreros Special. Meanwhile, Tarzan escapes the Dragon Cutter and gives Dragon the Devil's Wings - very trendy move. Rudos win! Warrior does the Mistico pose. Rudos celebrate and then just leave.

Oh, they're just going to talk to Magadan. In case you've forgotten, Ultimo Guerrero (and his team) are a higher level. Replays.

That's it. Well, one more look at the music video, and that's it. Well, one more discussion with the band and Mistico, and that's it. CMLL needs to pay someone to carry Mistico's mask where it's cut for speaking with him all the time.
