CMLL GDR - 10/28/06 (#49)
Recapped: 11/04/06

Ellos Usaron Mascara: Halloween, who turns out to be Halloween. His old mask is great.

Before almost every break, they plug Mistico shooting the music video on 10/30. If only I watched this sooner.

Match 1: Hombre Sin Nombre, Loco Max, Sangre Azteca (c) vs Mascara Purpura, Maximo, Virus (c)
Arena Mexico, 10/20/06

  1. Tecnicos
  2. Rudos
  3. Rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:40
Approx Rating: eh
Other Match Notes: No pre-match attack.

1: Virus and Loco Max get two whole minutes to work on the mat, which is strange and great. I'm fearful of the Purpura/HsN pairing. They don't embarrass themselves, but it's pretty much missable. One of the refs is wearing a ref camera, and I hope we never see it. Maximo and Sangre last. Sangre vs Virus for 2 minutes on the math would have been super.. And Loco vs Maximo would've been good too, now that I think about it. W e get a spot where Maximo dances, Sangre knocks him down, and Sangre dances. Maximo comes back with a monkey flip and the dance. Walking the ropes armdrags ends Sangre out, and Maximo teases the dive. The one on ones cycle back over to to Virus and Loco without incident, with Loco trying to out do Sangre Azteca's monkey flip sell. Virus gets to a campana from the mat rocking start, and that's the end of Loco. Everyone else in - Maximo with a cross body for Sangre, Purpura with a 'rana for Sangre, one two three.  Maximo gets in a couple butt bumps on HsN and covers for three, not that it matters.

Either I know less Spanish than I thought, or Alex Koslov is yelling at us in Russian before this break. I'm not sure, except that he'd like us to call him Alexander.

2: Sangre teases locking up with Maximo, but just lures him into position for the beatdown. We're punished with shots from the ref cam. Purpura takes the hanging leapfrog sit. Maximo gets Sangre's low dropkick. Virus takes the Kiss Of Death, and that's three. That was worthless. Johnny Stamboli will never be forgot!

3: No comeback - we pick up with Loco and Maximo fighting, and there might have been a clip. Maximo gets a near fall off a missed senton, and Loco gets a victory roll for two before Purpura beaks that up with a dropkick and takes over. Purpura tries to get the crowd into it, but they're not coming. Purpura's bodyscissors roll gets two. HsN takes care of him, and Virus comes into take care of HsN. HsN stops him with a clothesline for a two count. Whip, Virus slides under a leapfrog and tries a bodyscissors. HsN blocks it on the way to something else, but Virus reversed to a big DDT for two. Both men running, HsN misses a clothesline, but moves out of the way on a Virus running cross body. HsN starts to leave the ring by himself for no apparent reason, sorta slips and pauses on the apron (Virus might have said something here), and then comes back in the ring, tentatively stomping Virus. HsN grabs Virus, and Virus armdrags him out. See, HsN had started to go out, because he knew that was were he needed to go next, but he forget to actually take a move to go there. He's a complete goofball. Virus sets up for a dive, stops to amiss a clothesline on Sangre, and takes a spin kick. Virus grabs the bottom rope, and we miss it, but apparently swings thru the ropes to a headscissors on HsN. Sangre's not sure what he should do, but walks right over to the tecnicos corner to take a Maximo top rope headscissors. Loco Max cuts him off with a back elbow. Sangre stands on the apron, right in the middle of the ropes, waiting, as Loco Max starts to whip Maximo, then stops and chops him one. So Sangre keeps waiting in that obvious spot. Loco finally whips Maximo, and Maximo collides into Sangre - Maximo falls down, Sangre is unbudged. Loco holds Maximo's legs apart for Sangre's slingshot low dropkick - and we can only assume that's what happened, because we get a horrible angle from ref cam. One two three. (2:28) Mascara back in with a springboard dropkick to take out Sangre, and a tilt-a-whirl, uh, slam on Loco Max. That wasn't right, but Mascara Purpura's more concerned with going up. 450 is aborted and Purpura lands on his feet when Loco moves. Purpura tries a 'rana on HsN, but HsN blocks it and hangs him for Sangre dropkick. One two three. (2:58) That got much less good at the end. I blame Hombre Sin Nombre.

Match 2: Alex Koslov, Hirooki Goto, Pierroth (c) vs Damian 666 (c), Halloween, Mr. Aguila
Arena Coliseo, 10/22/06

  1. Foreigners
  2. FdT
  3. FdT

Winner: FdT (2-1)
Match Time: 7:44
Approx Rating: Not good.
Other Match Notes: Famila de Tijuana are all wearing badly torn up jeans with tights underneath. Why they are doing this, I do not expect to know. Goto is wearing a Japanese flag bandana with Japanese characters to remind us that he is in fact Japanese. I guess he's been hanging around Koslov too much. Sadly, Pierroth is not wearing a Puerto Rician hat. Why are rudos facing rudos here? Too many people booked for the show? Of course, FdT will handle their own introductions. The ring announcer has no problem with this. Pierroth, on the hand, kicks Halloween down in the middle so his speech. How rude!

1: Pierroth side beatdown. Hey, La Nazi's here. Thanks for interfering blatantly. This would be a THEME. I figure these three guys would have no chemistry, but Goto and Koslov do manager to get some combo stuff. This appears to be one of those days where Pierroth is a lost cause, though beating a man with a pumphandle armbar has some charms. (2:57) As soon as I give Koslov and Goto some cried, they're completely lost on a double team they try to do on Aguila, though it eventually comes together - a surfboard around the ropes with Goto adding a dropkick. Pierroth makes sure to pick up the pin. (3:27)

2: We return to see Pierroth fireclay protesting someone - is La Nazi getting ejected? La Nazi is getting ejected. Oh well, Pierroth will just go boot choke Damian instead. I like how Damián punches Pierroth when Pierroth is putting on armbar, and Pierroth just decides he's going to ignore it. This is fine work. Somehow, La Nazi eludes security, interferes, and comes back to the ring. Pierroth may finally be giving her the okay to leave. Aguila and Damian are busy yelling at her that they don't quite help out Halloween getting beat on the other side of the ring. Now they're talking to the announcers. Suddenly, it's a wrestling match, with Damián and Goto going one one one - till a leapfrog goes horribly wrong. What the heck is this. Time for Koslov to get his Russian dancing kicks in. Aguila and Koslov trade punches. I feel like I've misses something here. Aguila doesn't quite manage the backflip over the double clothesline, but Halloween and Damián do manage the double spear on Koslov and Goto, and that's it.  Pierroth chooses peace, and failing that, running to the back. Halloween and Damian decide now is the time to bet up their rivals, because it' between falls and things don't count. Hey, why haven't they tried walking out yet? Damian gets Koslov's hat and does the Russian dance kicks, and Halloween does the lowrider strut with the bandana on.

3: Beatdown never stops between falls, Koslov taking a triple facebuster just as the fall offal starts. He's sent out, and FdT get the Quadruple legdrop on Goto. Oh gosh, this means Pierroth is going to fight. Pierroth tries chopping everyone, and then bends over so everyone can him in the back as always. Koslov  and Goto attack form behind and somehow get back control, so Pierroth can get in his belt shots. That's just great. He's getting Damián and Halloween in the face too, which can't be fun. FdT don't want back in while Pierroth has the belt, so Aguila and Halloween distract - while Damian comes in the other side with a cookie sheet. Shot for Goto, shot for Koslov, shot for Pierroth - no, he ducked and Halloween took it. Pierroth's using the belt to the head again, and gets the cookie sheet to use himself. I'd be fine with a double disqualification here, but they suddenly rule it as a DQ against Pierroth. (DQ 2:03) Apparently, everyone's allowed one illegal weapon, but only one! I dunno.

This is followed by a lot of talking which goes nowhere.
