CMLL GDR - 10/14/06 (#47)

Interview: Magadan talks to Mistico throughout the show. If I'm remembering my numbers right, Magadan says Mistico sometimes wrestlers up to 15 times a week! I don't find that number unbelievable, but they're going to run this young man into the ground. (Coming to Chicago is a vacation to him, really.)

Match 1: Averno, Mephisto, Emilio Charles Jr. (c) vs La Mascara, Lizmark Sr. (c), Maximo
Arena Coliseo, 10/08/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:24
Approx Rating: Just a match.
Other Match Notes: Rudos jump the tecnicos as they're entering.

1: Maximo turns it around by himself about :40 after the whistle blows. They've still got the strobe lights going off in the entrance way, and it's very distracting/seizure inducing. Tecnicos quickly pick up the win. Lizmark powerbomb did not look fun for Mephisto - he got dropped hard on his upper back.

2: Emilio looks quite not good in the opening exchange against Maximo. Tecnicos take turns getting in their runs for the rudos. La Mascara is fine. I was expecting Lizmark to get punked as soon as he started to start a new beatdown, but he takes care of Emilio and Averno before Mephisto clotheslines him out. Mascara back in. Mascara kicks Mephisto to the floor and gives him a plancha. Lizmark is so slow at this point. He gets in a pescado on Averno. This leaves Maximo and Emil in - and Emilio fakes a low blow. The ref believes him, and that's it for this fall. Tecnicos try to convince the fans otherwise, but Emilio does a heroic job of selling his low blow until. He's sure the fans can't see it anymore.

3: Rudos start a beatdown as the fall starts. Mascara gets the Slip N' Slide splash. Lizmark's worked over with corner charges, and held in a double crab while Emilio and Maximo meet up again - this time, it's Maximo faking the foul. What are they going to rule? The rudos are trying to stop the referee from making the call - but he does. Replays sure seems to indicate the referee saw Maximo fake the low, but we'll let it go this time.

Match 2: Atlantis, Black Warrior (c), Ultimo Guerrero vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico (c), Volador Jr.
Arena Mexico, 10/06/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 6:46
Approx Rating: Too short to be anything.
Other Match Notes: Dr. Wagner finds a kid in a Wagner mask, check. Mistico is great over, check. He brings the Warrior mask he won with him, which is really going to tick Warrior off, I'm sure. Warrior comes out wearing his mask, and then pulls it off and throws it in the crowd. They blow the whistle before Warrior even gets halfway down the aisle - ah, the fight's already going on in the ring.

1: One one one beatdowns. Warrior wastes no time untying Mistico's mask. They've got ref cam going on, and they're actually using it this time (and it's not any good.) Atlantis sets up Mistico with a slingshot, and Warrior adds a middle rope legdrop, but does not cover. Double whip on Wagner misses, and Mistico comes back in with a springboard dropkick for the Guerreros. Spinning headscissors takes Warrior out, and Mistico follows with a springboard tornillo. The other four mix it up in the ring, and the tecnicos quickly beat the rudos - up and over sunset flip by Volador on Ultimo, sit down powerbomb by Atlantis. Warrior escapes to the ramp, Ultimo rolls out, but Wagner keeps Atlantis in and ties his mask.

2: Warrior and Mistico start in the ring, but we see much more of the crowd then them posing. Mistico comes back form that, wit ha little help from Volador, and ends up laying out Warrior with an Asai Moonsault. Wagner and Atlantis in, and Atlantis flattens him with a dropkick. Both their makes are untied, but they stay on as they run the ropes. Wagner gets the better of Atlantis when he drops down too soon, and then whips Guerrero into his partner. Dragon leg screw for Ultimo, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for Ultimo. Tag to Volador, who gets Ultimo with a spinning headscissors before Atlantis puts him down. Both Guerreros try to lift him up, but Volador kicks away and  - well, he tried a rope flip armdrag, didn't quite work. Guerrero sent up outside anyway - Atlantis takes a Volador no hands tope con giro, and Guerreros runs into the path of a Wagner apron tope con giro. Mistico and Warrior back in - this isn't going to end happy. Mistico off the ropes, La Mistica, Warrior tosses him off and yanks his mask. That's that. Mistico's not frosting his hair this week. Warrior rips up the mask, teases stuffing it down his pants, and then throws it in the crowd, so Mistico's not getting out here. Awful nice of Volador and Wagner to stand and watch as Warrior assaults Mistico, then mocks his pose. There's an woman in the front row very angry about all of this. Warrior finds more masks to rip and throw to the crowd. Volador's covering Mistico up now, so Warrior kicks him away and stomps Mistico a few more times. Is that Mistico's mom? The camera's vary focused on her. Hey, Que Monito, I didn't even realize he was here. Just when you think Warrior's done, he drags Mistico back in the ring to beat him some more - legdrop to the midsection. Mistico somehow got a new mask, and Warrior goes to rip that one off two. Now the tecnicos try to run him off - punch drops Volador, but it looks like he's just going have a standoff with Wagner - but he still has time to rip off Mistico's mask AGAIN. Warrior rips that one up as he's walking away. I think Volador found a third mask for him. Warrior argues with the fans on his way out.

Lots of time filling, and that's it.
