Arena Coliseo, 10/02/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:12
Approx Rating: Good.
Other Match Notes: Group interviews with the rudos before the match - they're all sort of fired up, though that seems like you'd expect with this crew. This feels like the first time I've seen Pantera wrestler unmasked but that can't be right. He's using the theme from Rocky. La Mascara has his belt, and Sangre wants a piece of him.

1: Virus and HsN start. It's a lot of Virus fighting to get on holds, and HsN fighting to get out of them. Sangre/Mascara next, and Pantera/Misterioso last - they do a on the top rope armdrag about 10 seconds in. things break down from there with the other four, and the tecnicos wrap it up

2: Pantera doesn't seem like the same guy without his mask. He gets a showcase to start, and does all his moves, looking sharp, but he just seems like a different guy. Rudos are hesitant to fight for some reason. Oh, I get it - Misterioso has a tear on the back of his tights, right about the spot you really don't want it to be. Terror Chino points it out to him, and then the other two rudos goof around, protecting Misterioso's butt from the harmful stares of the fans. They get some random paper and shove it down the back of Misterioso's tights to cover the hole - I don't think that'll work. Hombre Sin Nombre takes off the black trunks he wears on top of his pants, which may work, but now you've got the fans hooting and hollering at Hombre Sin Nombre. Okay, we're good to go. Virus keeps the crowd laughing at Misterioso. Misterioso yells between each move, and Virus armdrags him after each time. They battle to the floor, and Misterioso gets posted and a headscissors. Mascara and Sangre back in. Misterioso lands a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and Sangre claims that as a foul. Why do they always do that? It makes no sense. Misterioso into take on Mascara, and that spills to the outside for Misterioso to take another headscissors on the floor. Virus in against the other two rudos, and they get their act together, with Sangre giving him a top rope headscissors. Meanwhile, Hombre Sin Nombre takes a HsN shoulderbreaker, and that's that.

3: Rudo beatdown. Virus gets the side backbreaker/flying legdrop combo, and Hombre Sin Nombre actually covers! Tecnicos break it up, and Mascara quickly turns it around on a corner whip. Virus and Hombre Sin Nombre have an epic chop fest. Misterioso runs from Pantera. La Mascara rips off Sangre's mask - rips it to shreds, so Sangre runs towards the entrance to put his mask back on, in darkness. Matches settles back down to one ones after that. Pantera rolls HsN out, and bowls him over with a middle rope tope con giro. Virus backdrops Sangre out, and sets up an Asai Moonsault, but Misterioso kicks the rope out from underneath him and Virus tumbles to the floor. La Mascara pins Misterioso with an up and over sunset flip, but only two. La Mascara charges again, but this time Misterioso lifts him up in a Gory Stretch - Gory Special! One two three! Misterioso is pretty proud of his totally clean win, but is acting like he does this all this time. This appears to have set up a title match the next night in Puebla, though it would've aired after the fact. Dunno.

Poll: Mistico or Black Warrior? Mistico, Black Warrior, Mistico, Mistico, Mistico, Mistico - well, it sucks to be Mistico.

Match 2: Atlantis, Black Warrior (c), Universo 2000 vs Blue Panther, Mistico (c), Negro Casas
Arena Coliseo, 10/02/06

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:14
Approx Rating: On the level of the other post mask match trios
Other Match Notes: Entrances. This is Warrior's first unmasked match, but of course he comes to the ring with the mask still on. He unties the mask, but does not take it off. Magadan was already pushing the Dennis Rodman comparison in the open. It seems like Black Warrior pulls off his mask when he sees Mistico enter, because he's got it off just as Mistico's entering the ring (and of course, Warrior attacks him.) First, we get a pre-match interview with Mistico. Mistico's wearing a mask which muffles his speech, but he's talking about the mask match with Warrior.

1: Rudo beatdown, off Warrior's attack. Warrior presses Mistico, walks around, and drops him for snake eyes. The other four are fighting, but no one's paying much mind to them. Warrior boots Mistico around the ring, and then stares at the crowd as Universo takes over for a moment. Warrior gets Mistico back, and gets to work on untying his mask. Warrior pulls Mistico into a nudo lagureno, and that's the fall. Warrior continues working over Mistico as we watch replays.

2: Beatdown continues, focus still on Mistico. Universo knocks him out of the ring, but Warrior follows him out just to beat him more there. Warrior walks around pressing Mistico again, this time dropping him on the apron. Atlantis and Universo work over Negro on the inside, and Warrior helps out on Panther, though he's easily distracted by Mistico chants. On the outside, Negro smartly helps Mistico retie his mask. That's good team work. (Looking at Mistico later, I think Negro might have actually changed masks here - Mistico ends up with another one tucked into his tights.) Negro's day goes down hill when he comes back and gets beat up some. He does manage a double clothesline, and Mistico comes flying in with a springboard headscissors, sending Warrior out. Mistico follows him with a nice slingshot tornillo, and the other tecnicos immediately get submission finishes.

3: It seems like the beginning of this might be clipped, and we join as Atlantis and Mistico have a discussion which leads to the fans chanting against Atlantis, which leads to Atlantis walking out - all the way out, thru the entrance. He takes a moment before returning, but I guess will only fight if the crowd could stop chanting. Atlantis decides to change strategies and attack, kicking Panther and spitting at Mistico. Panthers gets the advantage from here, with clotheslines and armdrags, and it setting up a half crab with Universo breaks it up with a clothesline. Panther writes on the ground as Universo celebrates, but soon enough, Universo is missing a clothesline and putting his head down a million moments too soon. Universo ends up slaps to the back, slaps to the chest, and a jawbreaker over the top rope. Negro in, but Black Warrior's not in a hurry to face him. So Atlantis will. They punch each other around and don't look that good, but are done quick to make room for Mistico and Black Warrior. Warrior has a skull like image painted in the back of his head. Warrior taunts, and kicks Mistico down. Back to untying the mask. Whip, Mistico flipping around for no reason, duck the clothesline, Warrior gets him up in a torture rack but Mistico spins out into an armdrags, spinning headscissors sends Warrior out. Will Mistico dive on to him? No, Warrior moves, so Mistico holds up. Atlantis requesting Mistico leave so he can get someone else. Negro beats him instead and gets on an abdominal stretch, but Universo breaks that up. Panther in to face him and he quickly gets a sunset flip, but only for two. Universo shoulderblock, Universo to the ropes, and Negro trips him up from outside. Panther knocks Universo out of the ring, and Negro holds him for a Panther tope. Warrior and Mistico back in. Mistico goes for La Mistica, Warrior throws him off, and Warrior yanks the mask. That's it. Warrior keeps the mask, and tries to tie around his waist as a belt. That doesn't work, so he stomps Mistico instead.

Warrior does the postmatch interview - I think he plans to gets Mistico mask for good real soon.
