AAA Short Line - 10/07/06

They're at an outdoor stadium for this taping. Seemed to be pretty full, and the crowd into the action. It got dark about the 5th match, but everything was pretty well lit.

Interview: Tiffany - tries to make sense of why she's a tecnico in the feud vs the TNA people, and why she's on Cibernetico's side

Match 1: Mini Charly Manson, Polvo de Estrellas, Tiffany (c) vs Estrellita (c), Mascarita Sagrada, Pimpinela Escarlata
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 12:54
Notes: A slightly lesser version of the usual mixed match; these minis aren't (yet?) as good as someone of the others, and Polvo didn't look good. Focus was mostly on Tiffany/Estrellita. Around 12:00 in, Elegido wandered out and annoyed Tiffany (by dancing!), eventually kissing her.  Tiffany really wasn't distracted, but the pin followed. Rudos blamed Tiffany for losing, when they actually didn't bother to break up the pinfall at all.

Match 2: Kaoma Jr. vs Chiva Rayada I in a semifinal in the Dream Tournament
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Kamoa Jr. via belly to back piledriver
Match Time: 7:25
Other Match Notes: Kaoma's announced as a Viper here. And a America fan! Good match which doesn't get me too exciting about either guy - Chiva's did moves, but I was more distracted by his consent sock adjustment. Kaoma was the more interesting guy. The finish is a piledriver and a didn't seem cautiously applied.

Interviews: Rey Cometa and Gran Apache talk about their match. Apache has far more to say.

Match 3: Gran Apache vs Rey Cometa in a semifinal in the Dream Tournament
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Gran Apache forward roll cradle
Match Time: 16:41
Notes: This one was far more compelling; Cometa got in flashy moves early (leading to a Apache taking a greatly amusing physics defying bump over the barricade), and then Apache controlled most of the match from there, only letting Cometa get in breif spurts of offince. Good old guy vs young guy story, worth seeking out.

Interview: Laredo Kid and Pesadilla talk about their match.

Match 4: Pesadilla vs Laredo Kid in a semifinal in the Dream Tournament
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Laredo Kid 450 Splash
Match Time: 9:34
Other Match Notes: Pesadilla is an indy guy who's seen many spots and knows how to do them, but doesn't seem to have a clue why he's doing them. Laredo Kid's not that much better - expect he has flashier dives - so this seems likes empty calories after the last match - they're just taking turns doing moves. Sometimes control would change on a chop, sometimes control would change on a missed pescado to the hard floor, it'd mean the same thing. Pesadilla gives Laredo Kid a Spanish Fly (which really needs a generic name) to the floor, and Laredo Kid's lucky not to separate a shoulder on it, because he turned and didn't flip over near enough. Laredo Kid was back to getting moves in ten seconds later, and they both just exchanged finisher moves until they finished getting all their stuff in.

- Apache talks about the Dream tournament final. He thinks he's way ahead of the other two.

Interview: Oriental, who keeps moving too far from the microphone.

Match 5: Cuervo (c), Ozz, Scoria vs Elegido, Oriental, Zorro (c)
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Dark Family
Match Time: 12:33
Other Match Notes:
The match is announced as a single fall, and then three falls, and then one fall. At least they get it settled before the match starts. Zorro's wearing the iron mask here. Dark Family wastes no time using clubs on the tecnicos; no DQ, though Tropicasas does try to take them away. Beatdown and comeback ends about 6 minutes, and then we're reset like nothing happened for the tecnicos to all get their runs. Oriental has agile spots, Elegidio has the same dancing spot, repeated. He's not what you would call good

Interview: Super Porky. He wants a hair match. They talk about the differences of a chain match in a six sided ring. It's 50% harder!

Match 6: Scorpio Jr. vs Brazo de Plata in a bull terrier match
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Scorpio Jr.
Match Time: 4:35
Other Match Notes: the match has not yet started before break, but they're outside and Scorpio's bleeding when they come back from break. Porky is bleeding soon after. Scorpio looks like Flair, and not a good Flair. They both accidentally bump the ref. Porky gets five corners and low blowed. Scorpio gets six, but the ref's not up to see anything but the last one. The fans try to convince Hijo de Tirantes that Scorpio didn't touch all six, and Hijo de Tirantes teases counting it for a while. Long enough for Scorpio to go touch all six once again if he wanted, and long enough for all the fans to get their opinion in. Tirantes eventually gives Scorpio the win. Hijo de Tirantes sees the low blow on the announcer's monitors (at least that's the story), and thinks about over turning it for just as long. Scorpio eventually just runs Tirantes to the back to end it.

Match 7: Charly Manson, Chessman, Muerte Cibernetica vs Intocable, La Parka Jr., Octagon
09/03/06, Plaza de Toros, Tula, Hidalgo

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 16:05
Other Match Notes: Better than usual AAA main event; seemed like less annoying shtick, even though the whole match was about building up Chessman versus Muerte Cibernetica, with Chessman hitting his partners with a chair by accident multiple times. Last time led to the finish. Manson seemed to be trying peacemaker, but slightly leaning Muerte's side.
