CMLL GDR - 10/01/06 (#8)
Recapped: 03/16/07
Magadan in sunglasses! He's too cool to stand outside with unprotected eyeballs.
Unmasked: Cien Caras. On the ranch!
Match 1: Apocalipsis, Mr. Mexico, Ramstein (c) vs
Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera, Virus (c)
Arena Coliseo, 09/24/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:34
Approx Rating: Below average.
Other Match Notes: Ramstein is using Iron Man for music. He gets the
pre-match interview. Magadan is now wearing his sunglasses inside. They never
get Tony Rivera's music started, unless he's just using the second half of
Stuka's music. Terror Chino and Rafael el Maya are your refs.
1: Virus and Ramstein start on the mat, which appears to be Virus wrestling a dummy. Ramstein's got quite the gut going. Stuka and Apocalipsis next. Stuka's wrestling in a El Ranchero Gym t-shirt. Ah, he takes it off when they get to chest slaps. Just wanted to get a discount on his gym fees with some free TV advertising. Stuka hangs Apocalipsis on the ropes, upside down, and spins him back into the ring when Virus hits a dropkick to the head. Tony flies in with a frog splash, and all the sudden, that's one pinfall. Ramstein runs into a Stuka spinebuster and gets a standing nudo. That's it. Virus chest slaps Mr. Mexico, who decides to walk away peacefully.
2: Tony/Mr. Mexico showcase. Mr. Mexico still isn't good. Ramstein's not having a good day either. Stuka gets a brief moment, but Apocalipsis tosses him out, and then he and Mr. Mexico take turns tossing Tony around by his hair for a while. It's long - not the hair, but the tossing. Mr. Mexico gives him a powerbomb and poses on him, but stops posing when Virus runs in. Apocalipsis handles him, and sends him to a Ramstein boot. Ramstein adds his own frog splash, and gets three for the fall. Very weak frog action on that, if it matters. Replays, and rudo beatdown as we head to break.
3: Beatdown goes on. Nothing that interesting. All individual moves, with the others standing around. They do get together for a triple boot on Stuka. Virus is brought in for a second time, and takes Ramstein down, but Apocalipsis is on him with stomps. Virus ducks under a (weak) double clothesline, and dropkicks both guys. Tecnicos in and punching. This feels mailed in, though Tony gets in a great running corner plancha. Stuka gets Mr. Mexico in the Gory Special for one win, and Virus puts Ramstein in a standing leglock cradle for the other.
Match 2: Averno (c), Mephisto, Eclipse vs La Mascara, Sagrado, Blue Panther (c)
Arena Coliseo, 09/08/06
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 2:48
Approx Rating: Incomplete
Other Match Notes: No idea why a random match from weeks ago is airing.
Entrances. La Mascara has his belt. When you know the show is going short, it's
kinda annoying to see the time spent watching minutes of entrances rather than
actual matches. Why do Mephisto and Averno come out separate? That will always
bug me.
1: seems like the opening match exchange between Averno and Panther is clipped. Panther is fun to see on the mat once he gets going here, but every time he does, the rudos break it up and the other tecnicos attack them. Panther goes for a three count after a slam, which probably has won matches for him. Panther sets up Averno for a Sagrado springboard plancha, who then sends him out with a springboard headscissors. Eclipse sends out Sagrado with a hard clothesline. LA Mascara comes in with a tope rope armdrags, and gets an up and over armdrag to send Eclipse to the floor. Mascara goes up top - pacnha1 Eclipse could've done a better job of catching. Tecnicos take control in the ring, with Sagrado getting Mephisto with another headscissors before the up and over sunset flip to win the fall, and Panther locks Averno in a weird sideways campana. That's different. That's the fall.
That's the show. This week, there was the final segment got cut, and so no end of the match (or seeing who's underneath the Cien Caras mask!)
