AAA Short Line - 08/13/06

Interview: Octagoncito - he's been around the world, but he's back in AAA because AAA's made minis big.

Match 1: Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Chessman vs La Parkita, Octagoncito
Gimnasio Marcelino Gonzalez, Zacatecas, Zacatecas, 08/13/06

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:08 shown
Notes: Joined in progress - joined in progress of La Parkita giving up to a cross armbreaker. Mini Abismo quickly takes care of Octagoncito next, and it not really paying attention his ring positioning, because he almost German suplexes Octagoncito right onto La Parkita. (Mini Parka miraculously recovered to dodge the bullet.) Abismo loses the old and has to readjust, but it doesn't take long. So I guess this is three falls? Oh, right, this is the episode where they screwed up and rewound on air. Replays of stuff we didn't see, and then we're told it's the third fall.

Octagoncito got the surprise pin on Mini Abismo, who refuses to leave. He was monkey flipped out, but Parkita got hit with a chair tope-ing after him. Parkita's selling style leads something to be desired. Anyway, while Hijo de Tirantes busies himself with that mess, Octagoncito gets Mini Chessman in two or three different fall ending circumstances, and finally normal sized Chessman interferes with mist. This took 30 seconds to happen, where Tirantes looked and change his mind multiple times. This drew out Octagon, and both minis ended up getting low blowed, with Octagon throwing his mini  on top before getting Chessman for a tope. That's the match.

Interview: Cinthia Moreno. She's Reina de Reinas International, for all that means (not much.) Cinthia seems half awake or something like that here.

Interview: Rossy Moreno. Why is she feuding with her sister? I think Rossy says it's just a tecnica/ruda thing. She's back off a five year absence, but I assume she thinks he's going to be what she was when she left.

Match 2: Medico (c), Rossy Moreno, Sexy Francis vs Cinthia Moreno, Elegido (c), Pimpinela Escarlata
Gimnasio Marcelino Gonzalez, Zacatecas, Zacatecas, 08/13/06

Winner: Tecnicos (Elegido pin Medico)
Match Time: 8:57
Notes: This is quite the collection of randoms, especially on the rudo side. Medico is doing his best Dr. Wagner impressions. Cinthia has her Mixed Tag belt. Rossy talks to Cinthia to set up a feud going nowhere. I can say this because it's three months later when I type this and I know, but I'm pretty sure I could've guessed it at the time. Yay one fall. Is Sexy Francis a gay vampire? Maybe it's the shirt.

Beatdown at about 1:45. I forget to time the comeback, but I'm sure one happened Rossy and Cinthia go crowd brawling, which is great. Rossy and Cinthia a lot of spots together and look fine doing them, but then you'd expect that. They're far from perfect, though, and get lost on one leg submission hold. Tirantes ends up low blowing El Elegido from behind, but he's stopped from counting and Cinthia and Rossy turn it over (why does Rossy help?) Hijo de Tirantes counts the pin for the win. Ah, this is the Tirantes breakup.

Vignette: To the museum to see women who participated in the war

Noti AAA
- El Hijo del Santo puts a mask on his son, anointing him El Hijo del Santo. This is done in some bizarre room where everything is silver - the wall, the bed, everything. So surely Santo's house.
- Shocker and JJ had a rumble. JJ tried to come off the top rope and paid for it. JJ apparently has no friends to save him - oh, wait, there they are.
- Cibernetico's on a lot of TV shows I don't watch
- Intocable can't stop dancing. I think they have a pill for that.

Match 3: Chessman (c), Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz vs Laredo Kid, Nemesis, Rey Cometa (c), Super Fly for the Mexican National Atomicos Championship
Gimnasio Marcelino Gonzalez, Zacatecas, Zacatecas, 08/13/06

Winner: Sect (Cuervo reverse figure four Rey Cometa)
Match Time: 9:40
Other Match Notes: One fall match for a title? Unusual, though I don't think I'll object.

Mostly just guys taking turns showcasing moves - except Chessman just takes moves and doesn't do anything showy. You know the end is the end because one of the announcers can't stop pointing out the captain is in there, even before Cometa misses a 450. Cuervo gets him with a leg lock, and that's it. Tecnicos got about 75% of the offense and just got beat for missing a move. Most of the offense was dives, so there wasnt' really a moment where you thought the titles were changing.

Interview: Electroshock. Why is his vest cut out to show his love handles? He's ready to take on the people he's taking on and team with the people he's teaming with.

via telephone: Extreme Tiger. What he has to say is so important, they have to hear from him even though he doesn't make whenever they're taping all these bits. He wants Joe Lider and Crazy Boy.

Interview: Alan Stone - he's not down with the lucha extreme stuff. Hey, I knew he had some sense.

Match 4: Alan Stone (c), Electro Shock, Extreme Tiger vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera (c)
Gimnasio Marcelino Gonzalez, Zacatecas, Zacatecas, 08/13/06

Winner: Rudos (Extreme Tiger bodyscissors submission Juvi)
Match Time: 21:49
Other Match Notes: Night of the random crews. Juvi charges the ring and gets jumped by Extreme Tiger. Uh huh.

This is the match with Extreme Tiger's hilariously missed legdrop, where he hurts himself in the process and they replay to show how bad he missed. Chair spots with Joe Lider, check. I'm not sure the man knows how to take a bump correctly. Comeback about 5 minutes in. You know, some of these guys aren't good, but Joe Lider seems like an especially dangerous guy to work with - he doesn't seem concerned at all with taking care of his opponents. This is yet another "you do a move, I do a move" match, but then anyone match with Electro and Alan as your solid guys is a bit worrisome. No one sells things for more than five seconds, and Alan, Crazy, electros and Lider all battle to the back for no reason. I'm thinking they don't have big screens in this arena. Crazy Boy gets a moonsault off the entrance that's promptly forgotten, because Juvi and Extreme Tiger are doing near falls in the ring. They're trying to do Rey vs Juvi stuff, and it's not the comparison you want to have. Fans boo when Extreme Tiger wins, which makes since because he's the rudo, but I don't think that's what they were going for. Having him beat Juvi clean is an attempt to establish him, but I don't know that they could here. This went on for four forevers.

Interview: Shocker - he doesn't want to talk about JJ or this wacky background sound effect we're getting. Oh, is that intro of his song?

Match 5: Muerte Cibernetica, Shocker (c), Zumbido vs Brazo de Plata, La Parka Jr. (c), Octagon
Gimnasio Marcelino Gonzalez, Zacatecas, Zacatecas, 08/13/06

Winner: Tecnicos (Octagon submission Zumbido)
Match Time: 18:45
Other Match Notes: Zumbido has his title here because we're setting up an angle for it. Octagon wastes no time pointing out the title, because that's what we're here for. Porky's fired up to be here. Shocker crotches himself posting, of course, and La Parka mocks him until he thinks about leaving.

Beatdown at 11:00, when Parka gets a bit too wacky. Mostly tecnico comedy spots before then, which Shocker and Zumbido can do well. Tecnicos make a comeback only 3 minutes later. There's a Zumbido/Octagon sequence earl, then late when the one on ones start (followed by Parka and Porky dives), and then once more to close the match (including Octagon pulling down Zumbido's trunks and it getting blurred), all to set up the title defense.

They did some editing thru the show to cut down on the more risque stuff, which I hadn't noticed before. First time I've seen them use digitizing, which costs extra. Octagon wastes no time making the challenge post match.
