CMLL GDR - 06/03/06 (#28)
Recaped: 06/12/06

This week's running bits
- interview with Averno
- promos by captain on each team before their match - and then they go head to head.

Match 1: Dr. X, Masada, Nitro (c) vs Rey Tigre (c), Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico
Arena Coliseo, 05/28/06

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:52
Approx Rating: Below average.
Other Match Notes: The Pandilla appears to have gotten their own versions of the new GdA black with yellow print tights.

1st Fall: Mat work to start, with Blanco and X (fine) and Rey/Nitro (going thru his sequence of moves based on practice, not based on trying to hurt someone), and then then the rudos beatdown Rey Tigre. The highlight of that is Rey Tigre not being able to take a double hiptoss bump.

2nd fall - beatdown. Rey Tigre doesn't look again, very unconvincing make a wish on Metalico (they barely pulled his legs apart). Telegraphed turnaround, with Rey being whipped but held by one of the other Tigres, and coming back with a double clothesline. Triple tope spot is cool. Rey brings himself and Blanco in for the win

in between falls interview: Rey Bucanero hasn't been turned on yet, so he still considers himself neither tecnico nor rudo, just a Guerrero.

3rd Fall: Clipped at the very start, right to Metalico's injury. He tries a springboard reverse tope on Dr. X, but over flips (and perhaps clonks heads too hard), landing hard and out. Dr. X, not showing his medical skills, stomps him right on the head. Metalico is dead weight, so Dr. X sends him out, and it takes a moment before anyone everyone realizes he's really hurt. Rey Tigre and Masada have a sequence - Rey's at least got his pose down. Blanco ends up armdragging Nitro out and going over the top rope into a headscissors on him. Masada backdrops Dr. X into a pescado onto Blanco, leaving himself and Rey Tigre - for a moment, before Nitro comes back. Rudos apparently have disposed of Blanco, and with Metal down, it turns onto a one on three. Masada DDTs Rey out of position, but brings him back for a top rope splash and top rope headbutt combo. One two three.

Metalico gets a back board ride out.

Match 2: Black Warrior (c), el Hijo del Pierroth, Emilio Charles Jr. vs La Mascara, Lizmark Sr. (c), Pantera
Arena Coliseo, 05/28/06

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:43
Approx Rating: Eh.
Other Match Notes: Why does La Mascara have the Mission Impossible theme? For the same reason Pantera has the Rocky theme.

1st: Pierroth and Mascara start on the math, and it's fine, if not inspiring. Warrior tries to liven things up by breaking up part off with a dropkick, and Lizmark chases him around the ring. Hijo de Pierroth does his Salsero dance, which calls into question the point of being Hijo de Pierroth; I guess forging your identity is a rudo tactic? Things come to a halt when Warrior intercedes again, and all six guys end up in the ring and staring at each other. Tired of getting cheap shoted, La Mascara aborts the next sequence with Pierroth to go after Black Warrior, and gets beat up for it - it starts the beatdown right there and then. Warrior works over La Mascara, and that seems to be the focus.

2nd: Beatdown continues. Warrior pulls and tears La Mascara's mask a bit. 3 on 1s are not very interesting. Warrior misses a corner splash on La Mascara, and that's the comeback. With help from his partners, La Mascara gives Emilio a close to low blow dropkick, but they let it go. Same for Pierroth. Lizmark hesitantly corner whips Black Warrior, charges, then slows down, stops, and slaps him. That was dumb. Warrior gets a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker from two of the guys, but it's Lizmark who gets the 'rana win. Not the way they were building it. Mascara unties Warrior's mask after the match - Warrior's got his hair colored in a wacky pattern.

3rd: Pantera and Emilio start, but Emilio's out of there right after the sunset flip roll thru bit. Maybe it's because Pantera had him run the ropes five times before getting it? Mascara and Pierroth fool around. Lizmark gets his sequence on Warrior. He's looking old today. Pantera gets Pierroth out and flattens him with a thru the ropes tope con giro. Emilio and La Mascara in, Emilio gets the hold in place abdominal stretch while Lizmark deals with Warrior. They do a 'rana roll thru spot which is just sad. Extra slow motion, and yet it gets the pin.

That's it.
