AAA Mini Line - 06/03/06
Recapped: 06/22/06

Match 1: Gran Apache, Mini Abismo Negro (c), Tiffany vs Billy Boy, Martha Villalobos, Mascarita Sagrada (c)
Plaza de Toros, Salamanca, Guanajuato, 01/29/06

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 17:57
Notes: This is 3 falls for whatever reason. Piero is the ref.

Beatdown for the first two falls, comeback, and then the normal mixed match in the third fall. Didn't really get into it. Billy Boy kept his submission on Tiffany a long time - not every tecnico of him. Apache and Billy Boy exchanged hair match and Fabi comments after the match.

Match 2: Zumbido vs Histeria in the finals of the Mexican National Middleweight Tournament
Plaza de Toros, Salamanca, Guanajuato, 01/29/06

  1. Histeria top rope moonsault (5:39)
  2. Zumbido top rope moonsault (2:07)
  3. Zumbido pin (7:00)

Winner: Zumbido (2-1)
Match Time: 14:46
Notes: Bizarrely, Apache is Zumbido's second. I guess Shocker is busy doing...something. JJ is Histeria's second. Sergio Gonzalez is here representing the commission. Unlike all the other tournament matches, this is three falls. Hijo de Tirantes is the ref.

First fall is all clean, with Histeria controlling the last couple minutes, and working in a dive before the finish. Zumbido comes out on fire in the second fall, still not cheating, and wins it clean in a short amount of time. Zumbido is relunctantly looked at by a doctor just as the third fall is supposed to start. Something with his right knee. I guess he hurt on the moonsault; he's having a hard time getting up and limping after that. Watching a replay, his knees come down really hard on the mat, so it's possible, but the way Hijo de Tirantes hurries to tease a match stoppage makes it seem like a work. Of course, Zumbido wants to go on, and they would seem to only let that happen on fake injuries. The match picks up about a minute after the bell, while in replay. It goes on like normal from there, with Zumbido not selling his knee, then hurting again and a teased match ending - it's just odd. Really shouldn't think so hard about Zumbido doing backflips and 'ranas with a supposed broken knee, and Hijo de Tirantes being in a hurry to end this match and not a dozen other when a person is hurting worse. JJ cuts off Zumbido from a dive with a missile dropkick - Hijo distracting himself for no reason for quite a while. JJ ends up holding Zumbido for a Histeria dive (thus switched what I expected rudo/tecnico in here - and what had been done before, so maybe it's just AAA being AAA), and not only does Zumbido move, but Histeria comes up way short on his tope. He doesn't get hurt, it just looks bad. Apache tosses JJ into the crowd while Zumbido pins Histeria with sort of an inverted surfboard pinning move, I guess. It works.

I liked the idea of a totally clean title match, and it was that for two falls, but got off the rails quite a bit in the third. Eh. Shocker wanders out with the belt; so now he's not busy? Why didn't they have the belt to start with? Anyway, Shocker gives it to Zumbido, though for a moment I think he's going to keep it for himself.

After a break, Zumbido makes piece with Histeria, and Shocker and he beat up JJ. Histeria's like "whatever". Shocker ends up throwing him back in the crowd. Security eventually pulls JJ away. They seemed to be building JJ up as a challenger here.

Noti AAA:
- Latin Lover is still recovering.
- AAA in Acapulco. This is the tieup they talked about last week.
- Konnan, backstage in TNA, promises to take care of everyone when he gets back, specifically Shocker. I guess he's talking about bringing in TNA guys, because we get two promos at the same time, another with him introducing various TNA guys (he's going to bring in): Monty Brown, AMW, Abyss, Sean Waltman, Austin Aries (I think), Sabu, and Jarrett. Haha, they cut off Jarrett talking to the camera. That's the way to go.
- Pena responds from his office.
- Reina de Reinas is coming
- Some AAA people are going to South Korea.

Charly Manson, Chessman, Monsther vs Zorro, Electroshock, Alebrije is joined in progress.

Match 3: Charly Manson, Chessman, Monsther vs Electroshock, Alebrije, Zorro
Plaza de Toros, Salamanca, Guanajuato, 01/29/06

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 6:20
Other Match Notes: This match, which isn't what I had listed, is joined in progress. At least here it is. It's a bit odd, but they join it just before the comeback, so it must be on purpose. The story in this match is Zorro decides to go nuts on Charly Manson for whatever reason, taking great pains to bust him open, and Electro doesn't like it. He takes away Zorro's cane and teases using it on Zorro. And then doesn't, and Zorro doesn't more, and Electro teases turning on him, and on and on and on, like someone missed a cue, except this is how it is AAA. They stop the match to cart Charly and his very bleeding forehead out of there, and then continue on like nothing's up. The sequence of events which led Electro and Lady Apache to think it was a grand idea to get matching huge dragon wings tattoos on their backs must make for an outstanding story. And a whole lot of regret. Zorro, who seems in the wrong here but is totally the tecnico, challenges Electro to a fight, and Alebrije tries to play peacemaker. Electro ends up shoving Zorro and leaving.

Match 4: El Brazo, Espectro Jr., Pirata Morgan (c) vs La Parka Jr. (c), Triple A, Octagon
Plaza de Toros, Salamanca, Guanajuato, 01/29/06

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 12:55
Other Match Notes: Espectro is wearing a title which the announcers seem to identify as the National Light Heavyweight championship, but that can't be right. Brazo is doing his Zumbido/Porky impersonation. Triple A is "Super AAA" here according to the graphic. Rudos get sick of Parka's dancing really quick. Back to one falls for this. Refs are the Tirantes.

This match has SKITS. I have no use for this match. Brazo turns on his teammates for comedy's sake. I think he does a stinkface, and they edit it out. After 12 minutes of goofing, Espectro just random ally pulls off Triple A's mask. And then Tirantes turns on el Hijo de Tirantes for goofiness earlier. In anger, Hijo de Tirantes takes off his suspenders, throws them down, and stomps on them. Tirantes punches him again and leaves with the suspenders. Whatever.

After a break, the tecnicos dance while we get an insert about Abismo Negro being out due to injuries suffered at the last TV taping.

La Parka Jr. vests a children's hospital as part of Televisa's fundraiser.

Classic Footage of past chain matches to build up to the main event.

Match 5: Cibernetico vs Vampiro vs Shocker in a three way chain match
Plaza de Toros, Salamanca, Guanajuato, 01/29/06

Winner: Cibernetico
Match Time: 12:57
Other Match Notes: After last week's Vampirotaker bit, Vampiro show sup wearing a loud pink jacket and acting like normal. So, whatever. It's a three way chain, connected together in the middle.

Shocker and Cibernetico turn on Vampiro from the start, and it's just alternating periods of them working over Vampiro and Vampiro rallying back. They do occasionally tease actually winning the match, but only Vamp seems focused on the idea. Cibernetico just unties the collar and walks off around the 10 minute mark, which would seem to be illegal. A couple minutes later, Espiritu and Chessman run out to attack Vampiro. Shocker doesn't know hat's up, but wants no part of it. He unties himself from the chain. Cibernetico proposes merging forces with Shocker, and Shocker thinks about it. Shocker agrees when Cibernetico agrees to put his name first, and Ciber's okay with that - and then orders his men to rush Shocker. Shocker's a MORON. He totally deserves this low blow kick. Ciber, very considered with giving me a finish, manages to touch all six corners - untied from the chain, and with both his opponents down. I'm touched. Shouldn't Zumbido be making the save? Maybe his knee is hurting again. Ciber promises a turn to come.

After a break, Vampiro and Shocker recover and bump into each other. They do not hug, but they don't fight. Vampiro steals a camera, and that's about it.
