CMLL GDR - 05/13/06 (#025)
Recapped: 05/15/06

Zhara is back, though now she's Shara for whatever reason.

Interview: Before the match, there's an interview with the rudos and tecnicos. Emilio Charles Jr. looks normal compared to his partners. Felino is the only tecnico with any life.

Match 1: Emilio Charles Jr. (c), Hombre Sin Nombre, Misterioso II vs Brazo de Oro, Dos Caras Jr. (c), Felino
Arena Coliseo, 05/13/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:27
Approx Rating: Run of the mill
Other Match Notes: First fall is a standard opening. Emilio and Dos wrestling, and Dos is kind of a jerk to Emilio, doing "I'm taller than you!" bits. Emilio got on the middle rope to counter, but it backfired. Oro and HSN are next. I don't know if I just hasn't noticed it before or if it's new, but HsN's outfit has a black on black design. They don't go long till tags to Misterioso and Felino. Felino quickly gets the crucifix rollup (3:42) and Brazo does the big sit on a sunset flip to pin Emilio. (3:48) Oro's really not quite big enough to make that work.  Hombre sin Nombre tries a pescado on Dos and gets caught and slammed on the ramp. The problem is, HsN walked around people to cross the ring to do the dive, and he was there before Dos was - it looked way too scripted. Replays, Break.

Shara interviews women about what they look to see in the ring. Some women say the women, and some women say other things.

HsN and Dos start, with HsN acting like HsN. Misterioso gets in a cheap shot from the outside and gets superkicked for it, but it always HsN to sneak in a back elbow and take momentarily control. Dos comes back with an off the top rope 'armdrags that doesn't look good and a superkick that looks fine. Dos runs both rudos - tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for HsN, superkick again for Misterioso, and 619 for no one. Oro and Emilio now. They do a bit where Emilio gets punched in his nose, and the rudos have to check to make sure it's not broken. HsN takes Emilio's place, and Brazo armdrags him around the ring. Brazo gets in a reverse heel kick to the midsection, and HsN sells it as a low blow. No one's buying. Things break down for a second, but it gets settled won to Oro giving a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and then Emilio organizes the beatdown. Emilio spends most of his time holding down Oro in a double choke, while Misterioso is left to deal with Dos Caras. They all end up teaming up on him, and that gets the finish. (4:02)

Q for Lady Apache: Cual Fue El Momento Mas Dificil? What was her most difficult moment? I'm not sure. Break.

Beatdown goes on thru the start of the third fall. They go for a double armbar pose pin on Felino, but the others break it up. Everyone almost gets counted out, and then Brazo de Oro and Felino come in, which actually doesn't work out to well. Misterioso meets him, and ends up getting sent out and toped by Oro.. HsN adds a pescado, Felino adds his double jump somersault dive, Emilio goes to add his dive, and Dos cuts him off with a top rope plancha. Dos gets a drop toe hold and tries for a Majistral, but Emilio shoves him off into the corner. Emilio charges in, Dos moves, and Emilio hits the corner. Dos lands the corner enziguri, and that's that. (2:37) Emilio lost his gum on impact, and the camera zooms in on it till they realize it's only gum and not teeth.

Q for Felino: Como te calificas como ser humano? "As you are described like being human". Yea, I don't follow, but I think Felino explains he's not actually a humanoid cat.

Interview: Same bit with a rudo interview before this match. I imagine the focus is on "will Averno job to Mistico yet again", but Mephisto has harsh words for Ultimo Dragon for whatever reason. (Probably because Universo is taking Lizmark.) No tecnico one, though.

Match 2: Averno, Mephisto, Universo 2000 (c) vs Hijo de Lizmark, Mistico (c), Ultimo Dragon
Arena Coliseo, 05/13/06

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:49
Approx Rating: Good, though not exceptional
Other Match Notes: Monito is out with Mistico. Lizmark is wearing trunks instead of pants - maybe he got a new leg tattoo.

Averno and Mistico start, because they can never stop fighting. I really shouldn't mock it now, when this is like year 2 of a 30 year rivalry. Mistico took apart Averno with armdrags and headscissors like usual, but Averno moved out of the way of a handspring in plenty of time (actually, he never moved IN the way, so it was easy to avoid), and with Mistico down and grabbing a leg, the rudos stormed the ring. Beatdown. Switching from the plan, Mep takes Mistico, and gives him a press slam onto the apron. Averno takes Ultimo Dragon instead. Mistico is brought in for the triple team, takes a big press slam, and the double hiptoss rebound faceslam for the pin. (4:04)

Q for Lady Apache: Que Le Dicies a Tu Familia? Lady Apache says her family is very important her, especially her dad. I have no idea if I'm supposed to read into that. Break.

Fired Up 1 is back, and I'm this close to buying that ATC song off iTunes.

Mephisto rips up Mistico's mask to shreds to start the fall. Ultimo Dragon comes in - and protests to the referee before Averno stops him and goes after his mask. Dragon's mask is hard to rip, I've noticed. Mistico's frosted hair is exposed - Mephisto works on him in the corner while the other rudos keep the other tecnicos out of the way. Mistico is brought down to the tree of woe, Averno whips Mephitis into a dropkick to head. Universo lures Lizmark in, and Averno and Mep take him down from behind. Lizmark takes a weird delayed bumped on a double back elbow, and gets a face first powerbomb for his trouble. Dragon is held near the corner for a devastating Mephisto middle rope elbow. Mep and Universo make a wish with Dragon as well. Mistico back in with his ripped mask. Lots of kids in the crowd cheering for Mistico again. They set up for the GdI sit, but Averno's yanked out by Dragon and Lizmark, and Universo gets beat following. That leaves Mep and Mistico alone in the ring, and that's not working for Mep. Twisting headscissors sends Mephisto out, and Mistico's after him with a slingshot tornillo! Dragon back in, but he's the only one. Lizmark's beating Universo around the ring, so that means Averno is late - Dragon and Averno wait while Universo gets slammed on the floor. Averno's just staring at that fight and Dragon's starring at him. Averno finally realizes someone's waiting for him and they get going - just as Universo comes in. Universo and Averno's attempts at team work go horribly bad - Lizmark ends up coming and powerbombing Universo (3:51) which ends the fall, though Dragon's managed the Dragon Cutter on Averno, and Mephisto is running for his life away from Mistico. Replays, and straight into fall three.

Mistico's tossing Mephisto around on the ramp to start the fall, and they bring it in the ring to get legal. There's a lot of Mistico's face leaking out of his mask - I think a ref informs him, but he fixes it. Mistico slams Mephisto's head intro the side of the apron, and waits for him to get up - but Mep stumbles away. Dragon and Averno take their places in the ring.  Averno does slightly better than he does against Mistico, but celebrates after ducking a kick to the face, and gets kicked in the back of the head. Lizmark and Universo in - Universo's so angry about this matchup, he kicks the bottom rope, causing Mephisto to spill to the fall. Mep's not happy, but Universo tries to make it good with a hug. Mephisto tells him to go beat up Lizmark. Pose off? There's good news and bad news. The really bad news is Lizmark Jr. reacts to open hand slaps by doing Latin Lover dances now. There is no good news. Universo beats down Lizmark in the corner, corner whip, Lizmark moves, and Universo hits the corner. Lizmark hiptosses him out, and then dropkicks him down. Whip, reversed, Lizmark armdrags Universo add he slides out. Universo ducks down to evade a dive, and Lizmark slaps him in the back. Mephisto and Mistico, and no longer Mephisto because he's taking off. Averno's ready to come in, because the man never learns. Crowd chants for Mistico. Now Averno's talking to Mephisto, but it looks like Averno will stay in. Averno wants a lockup, Mistico not sure - lockup, and Mep attacks Mistico from behind. It was all an evil plan, you see. Mep whips Mistico, Mistico reverses, and Mistico backdrops him. Mistico rips up Mephisto's mask quite well as the tecnicos prevent the rudos from helping out. I think that's the most we've seen of Mephisto's face (and the bandana he's wearing on his head.) The tecnicos are ordered to leave, and Averno immediately sneaks in to kick and stomp down Mistico. Averno looks around angrily at the Mistico chant. High ten to Mephisto. Mistico's tossed, but he lands on his feet, fakes out Averno, twisting 'headscissors on Mep, tilt-a-whirl armdrags on Averno, blocking Universo's clothesline, kick for him and a urn up the ropes twisting armdrags there too. That sends Universo out, and Lizmark drops him with a tope. Dragon in, and he misses a wheel kick on Averno. They're crossed up for a second, and then Averno wishes they still were when he takes a hiptoss all the way to the floor. Asai Moonsault, check. This leaves Mep and Mistico in once again. Crowd behind their man. Mistico off the ropes, sliding under, tilt-a-whirl, lands on his feet, Mep misses a clothesline, Mep tosses Mistico behind him on the next pass and low blow mule kicks on the way down! The refs appear to have been checking out the dive participants, so he's going to get away with this one if he'll cover - and he does! One two THREE! (5:54) If you're Averno, are you proud or are you jealous. Lizmark and Ultimo protest, but it won't do them any good. Replay - that mule kick was so big, Mep's heel kicked Mistico in the chest.

And we're out.
