CMLL GDR - 04/22/06 (#22)
Recapped: 05/07/06

Dark Angel and Amapola quickly hype up their hair match, and then we see the finish again. Dark looks sad for Amapola. And Amapola doesn't let people see her face.

Dos Caras Jr. puts Magadan thru a workout. The eating of fruits and vegetables are not included.

Throughout the show, they interviews Perro Aguayo Jr. (in black and white) and Dos Caras Jr. (in color). Neither man is wrestling tonight.

Match 1: Hiroka (c), Medusa, Rosa Negra vs Lady Apache, Marcela (c), Sahori
Arena Coliseo, 04/16/06

Winner: Rudas
Match Time: 9:22
Approx Rating: Bad.
Other Match Notes: This match was one fall, as usual. Lady Apache's red outfit is not flattering. This match went threw one break, at the peak of the beatdown. To put it nicely, Medusa and Rosa Negra looked like two people who weren't ready for this high profile of match yet and Hiroka isn't a women who can be expected to carry the team. They also had no chemistry as a trio. I think Medusa was worse, but you could argue it. The crowd - which had been chanting for at least Marcela and maybe Apache - turned on the match by the comeback, and the tecnicas weren't easily able to get them back. The focus was completely on Hiroka, and they might have not faced anyone else one on one the entire match. Marcela's top rope splash met Hiroka's knee, Hiroka got in her kick to the head, and a back suplex powerbomb for the win. (9:22) Hiroka makes the angry screaming title match challenge for next week, and Marcela accepts.

Match 2: Olimpico, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero (c) vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Mistico (c)
Arena Coliseo, 04/16/06

  1. Rudos
  2. Tecnicos
  3. Rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:55
Approx Rating: Usual
Other Match Notes: Metal must be so jealous - Mistico has two belts and he has none. Mistico's the Prince of Gold And Silver, and he's actually wearing a gold outfit for once.

1st Fall: Everyone knocks each other to start, ending with Mistico getting a springboard headscissors on Ultimo. They had a Wagner/Rey sequence with rudos cheating and tecnicos getting the revenge, and then they started an Ultimo/Mistico exchange before the rest of the rudos interfered and the beatdown started. Mistico took a flapjack onto the turnbuckle, and later a triple flapjack and got press slammed out of the ring by Ultimo. You wonder how Mistico hasn't taken time off of for injury recovery yet. Metal got pinned after the Bucanero Castiga. (5:48) Wagner stalled outside for a while, and they brought him in so they could end the fall. Olimpico did a running sit on the ropes, but it was really more a triple pose to do it. (6:32

2nd Fall: Beatdown continues into the second fall. Metal and Wagner get beatdown first. Wagner comes out of the ring after taking the GdI sit, and throws himself into the (regular) section of Ultimo Guerrero fans. He's had a habit of being angry with rudo fans of late, and I guess that's the same thing here. Mistico doesn't even get a chance to turn around the tables on the sit - while Ultimo and Rye are doing the huddle dance before doing it, the tecnicos rush it and it's on; they do get the revenge sit in on Olimpico. Mistico needs to stop the superkick already. Mistico unties Ultimo's mask completely, Ultimo having to hold it on. Wagner's mask is already united from earlier. Ultimo and Mistico do a sequence with the other tecnicos around, and Mistico lands a running corkscrew plancha. Tecnicos quickly get the pins to end the fall.

3rd Fall: Third fall starts with a Guerreros/Wagner battle. There's some boos from Wagner, but I'm sure I can guess which section they're coming for. Wagner gives Guerrero a springboard spinning DDT and Rey takes his place. Rey does a bit where drops down, and just stays down as Wagner keeps running back and forth. Wagner and Mistico rip Rey's t-shirt up. Wagner and Olimpico last, and Olimpico isn't as good. Metal gets his run, also starting with Ultimo and followed by Rey. Armdrags send them both out. Olimpico loses his balance while being backdropped, and Metal kicking him to the floor is an act of mercy. Bucanero comes back in, trips Metal off the apron, and lands a slip n' slide splash on him. Wagner knocks Olimpico to the floor with a kick, and gets in his tope con giro. That leaves Mistico and Ultimo, and the first move is La Mistica. Ultimo's mask comes flying off in the process, and Mistico is mistaken when he sees them signal the end of the match -  it's for a DQ (4:09) Mistico did untie Ultimo's mask, so he's got no one to blame but himself. Rudos celebrate a hard fought win. Replay shows (Ultimo's face and) Mistico headscissors the mask off in the process of the move. Ultimo didn't do anything to throw it off or cheat.
