Welcome To The Show Vignette: Averno & Mephisto

Match 1: Universo 2000 (c), Ultimo Guerrero, Pierroth vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo (c), Damian 666, Halloween
Arena Mexico, 11/11/05

  1. rudos
  2. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-0)
Match Time: 8:19
Approx Rating: Usual brawl.
Other Match Notes: Perros pull the "enter thru the crowd" bit. Someone tipped off the cameraman this time. Universo got punked - Pierroth and Ultimo were too busy waiting to meet them at the stage to be in position.

1: Perros beatdown. Ultimo takes the big bumps, of course. Damian holds Universo in position for Perro's middle rope double stomp, and has to keep holding him after while Halloween and Ultimo set up and do the spear, and only then can they finally count the pin. It appears they way everyone's decide to sell that spear now is to obviously jump before hand to enhance the impact.

2: Beatdown continues. Pierroth gets beat here. I'm not sure how he got out of eating a pin last fall. Universo must be winning this one. Instead, he takes the triple dropkick. Comeback happens when they try for the middle rope double le stomp on Ultimo, and Universo just clotheslines Perro before he gets up. Pierroth immediately slaps Halloween with the belt in the face. So not fun. Damian too! Everyone gets more traditional back belt shots, so we've using Ultimo Guerrero the same way we'd be using Mascara Año 2000 here. I dunno about that. Halloween and Pierroth get the first exchange. I know all I've done in the last 213 recaps I've done in the last two weeks is point out faults (or it seems that way), but Halloween tries something halfway between a superkick and dropkick, and if you can't imagine what that looks like, neither can Pierroth, because it didn't come close to him. Halloween throws a wheel kick later - maybe that's what he wanted. Halloween falls out off the ring running the ropes- ultimo pulled down the ropes, I guess, though we don't really see it. Damián ends up toping Pierroth instead, and Ultimo gets Halloween with a plancha. Down to Perro and Universo. Universo teases the Black Hammer but it gets broken up by the refs. Universo shoves the ref who did it, taking him out. Damian in, he misses a dropkick, and Universo gives him the Black Hammer instead! He dead. Universo so covers, but we've got two refs and he only knocked out one. (DQ) Perro slides over Damian and covers him up, very concerned. Halloween too. The Doctor is in - is Damián shaking? Universo's not rubbing it in, but Pierroth is pretty evilishly picking a fight with Perro while he's concerned for his half dead friend. Universo's wondering where his microphone is already, but we go to break before we're treated to that.

Back board in the ring to take Damián out, though the rudos and the rudo are slowing things down by shoving and such. Universo makes the hair challenge.  Perro is ready to respond and take it - but Halloween talks to him and gets the mic instead. Halloween is ticked Universo would do that to his brother, and he and Universo brawl. Everyone just lets it go (all Halloween) for a moment before they pull both sides a apart. Halloween gets stopped by the wresters while Universo gets stopped by security - and security is no match for Universo. Ultimo ends up getting Perro in a figure four sleeper, so Universo beats him  up for more than Halloween. Halloweens ends up ambushing him again, till the numbers get to him. Everyone walks off, but we get tons of replays. There's the Hammer replay I remember hearing about .

Footage of Damian being taken out of the arena. Why is there a flashing Noticia Ultimo Hora graphic?

Stellar Moments
Lance:
Apocalipsis plancha onto Virus
Admirable: Satanico's apron dive senton on Nitro
Triumph: La Mascara betas Mr. Aguila
Insult: Atlantis fakes a fault, beats Mistico.
Rudo: Buca Storm on Santo

Match 2: Rey Bucanero (c), Averno, Mephisto vs Dr. Wagner Jr. (c), Mistico, La Mascara
Arena Mexico, 11/11/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:05
Approx Rating: 86 - pretty good for the time given.
Other Match Notes:
All the tecnicos wear their belts. Mascara's music so doesn't fit him - at least his gimmick. Or maybe it's just not a good song? Rudos do not. I'd so get that Averno shirt, even though it's a classic "where would you wear this outside of a wrestling event?" shirt. Averno & Mephisto are getting separate entrances because we've got so much time to kill, you know? The announcers is wordy even for him. Rudos jump the tecnicos, but just enough to stomp them out of the ring.

1: So we start the match proper with a standoff, and it settles back to 1 on 1. Wagner/Averno not advantage to Averno, ending up with a Samoan drop. Mep takes up for his partner, and gets whipped around the ring for a corner clothesline, corner clothesline and bulldog out. Rey is last., but then quickly bails. El Futbol Player is in the crowd again, this time with family. Rey comes back, and quickly swishes he doesn't, taking a powerslam and being dropkicked in the head. He rolls out, Wagner poses - and Averno & Mep gives him a double dropkick. Double dive fake and pose. Mistico comes in with a plancha, but he's caught and tossed off. Clip here - we're in mid La Mascara come back when it returns. Mistico ends up doing a plancha to the outside while Mistico does a tornillo armdrags at the same time. Rey and Wagner back in. Rey's first kick works, his second is blocked but he punches free. Rey gets a waistlock, Wagner gets the ropes and a back elbow, Rey charges again - and takes the Wagner Driver. (3:48)

2: Rudos regroup with a huddle on the ramp. Rey and Mascara stat, with Rey getting the edge with a clothesline and a taunt. Averno comes in to help, but La Mascara superkicks him while still hooked up with Rey. He uses the normal flip out move on Rey into a headscissors on Averno (and an armdrag on Rey at the same time.) Not sure I've seen that before. Mascara continues his run against both guys, though not as spectacularly until a double jump DDT on Rey. Spinning armdrags for Averno sends him out, and Mascara takes time to pose. TIMEOUT. There are no time outs! Mistico moonsaults in the ring for no reason except he can. Crowd behind him. Mistico misses a dropkick and takes the Averno chest slap. You'd think Averno would have a good game plan for him by this point. Instead, Mistico flips over him on a corner charge, and then evades as Averno chops him, hitting his partner again. Averno gets Mistico the next item, but Mistico sis won headscissors and an armdrag both him and Mep. Mep takes a 'rana and is sent out, and Averno immediately takes the same. Mistico keeps going, with a slingshot 'rana to the floor on Mep. Pose, and tag to Wagner. Rey against him, and not looking that idea till his chest slaps tart to work. Of course, Wagner turns that around and gets in knife edge chops. Rey tells as the fans to stop counting, and Wagner switches to hamstring kicks. Headlock, switch, Rey headlock, shout off, shoulderblock, and Wagner isn't going own. Rey tries again, and gets tossed high with a backdrop. Wagner lifts up Rey's shirt for a better aces on a kick to the back. Wagner backs up, charges, and goes out of the ring when Rey ducks down. Rey quickly lands the slingshot tope con giro, and things are looking the rudo's way. Mistico in and flipping, but Mephisto sneaks in and dropkicks him in the back on the handspring. Mascara in, and Averno kicks him - stereo Devil's Wings. One two three. You don't want to go 2 on 2 with the champs! Rudos clean up tecnicos a bit, and Rey rants to the camera. Break.

3: We're in to beatdown here. Wagner is leaned on the outside of the apron for Rey to slide dropkick to the floor, and then Mistico is slide on top, and Rey slingshot splashes them all! That was choice! Triple face first slam for La Mascara. Rey slaps him down o the outside. Averno and Mephisto work over Wagner on the inside, but he ducks a double clothesline and dives thru the ropes to spear Rey. There's the comeback, with Mascara toping Mep into the first row. Mistico headscissors out Averno, and lights up the crowd with a tornillo. He's so pumped, he just randomly slaps Mephisto on his way. Rey takes his crazy over the ropes monkey flip to the floor, and Wagner adds his crazy tope con giro off the ramp. Other four in the ring, and we have submission holds - that's it. Why don't I have a shortcut key for "La Mistica on Averno"?

Hey, why didn't we get this teased title match? I hate when they do that! I guess that's why you don't bring out the tag belts with you. Don't want to be giving them no ideas or anything.

Match 3: Atlantis vs el Hijo del Santo in the Leyenda de Plata Final
Arena Mexico, 11/11/05

Winner: Atlantis
Match Time: 13:20
Approx Rating: 83; good match, though Atlantis needed to do a bit more here.
Other Match Notes: Atlantis has the half Ultimo mask going. Ultimo's here to be his second, and Atlantis is thrilled to see him. Ring announcer is totally getting paid by the word this week. Santo's music is perfect. Atlantis meets him on the ramp. Santo's not looking for a fight, but when Atlantis pie faces him, it's on. Atlantis stomps him down on the ramp. One fall, because this is Leyenda de Plata final. Break before the match proper.

We pick up with Atlantis bring Santo in the ring and working him over there. DDT! Atlantis still occasionally looks surprised at the reaction. KE Monito is there, though he doesn't seem sure why he's there. Atlantis yanks him into the ring, but Monito walks off. Oh  no, Ultimo's not going to allow that - Press, and toss to Atlantis, who tosses him down on Santo! Monito is out of her before they do more. Atlantis works over Santo in the corner, not even noticing Monito is gone. Time to rip the mask. Mistico is Santos' second, though we didn't see him earlier. Atlantis working over Santo with stomps and punches. Referee warns him about fists, and Atlantis threatens to eject him. Atlantis had a block Atlantis mask underneath the one he was wearing to the ring, and he's showing that off now. Boot choke to Santo. Atlantis takes the fight outside, mostly just to thrown Santo into the ring. Lots of punches from rudo Atlantis. Santo goes into the post. Atlantis poses in the ring some. This gives them some time to show how Santo and Atlantis go here - Santo cleanly beating Negro, Atlantis pretending a foul from Mistico. Atlantis with more corner punches on Santo. Right hands. Whip, Santo back with a running knee. And another - Atlantis flips out of the ring on that one, and Santo crushes him with a tope. I think Santo hurt his head on that impact. Time for the seconds to start waving their towels. Both back in, Santo with an up and over sunset flip, one two no. Atlantis is checking the count when Santo grabs him form behind - and rips the top of his mask off! He got Atlantis much better than Atlantis got him. There's a ton of photographers out here for this one. Santo shoves Atlantis in the corner, and then brings him in the corner for a whip. Backdrop. Santo waits for Atlantis to get up, and when he doesn't, Atlantis snap mare's him down and pus him in a chinlock. Kneeling abdominal stretch - Atlantis isn't going to give. He battles back up with more punches., and again argues when warned. Santo's slumped in the corner, and Atlantis works him over with a kick. Atlantis holds Santo - and unties his mask! He's going to pull it off - no, Santo's battling him. Knee drop to the head. Atlantis brings Santo out, and slams him on the ramp. Elbow drop, elbow drop. Atlantis glares at Baby Richard as he counts them out. Bringing it back in. Choke on the ropes, with forearm shots to the upper back. Atlantis inside cradle, one two NO. Ultimo was ready to storm the ring. Powerbomb? Yes! One two NO! Atlantis would prefer a speedier count. Atlantis put on an armbar from a stated position - for a second, I thought he as going to go camel clutch. Atlantis turns around so he's facing the opposite way of Santo, but doesn't keep it on much. Atlantis brings Santo up to his feet, and they fight with chest slaps. Atlantis rocks Santo with a forearm. Atlantis off the ropes, Santo with a waistlock cradle and back bridge one two NO. Santo off the ropes, reversed by, 'rana one two NO. Santo headscissors cradle, Atlantis reveres it back one two NO. Crowd isn't loudly into the near falls, but who knows. Santo trips up Atlantis, and works him over with strikes in the corner. Corner whip, reversed, Atlantis charges in, and Santo gets him with a corner sunset flip. Atlantis reveres and holds onto the ropes one two - Richard caught and stopped. Atlantis again has a problem with the officiating - inside cradle by Santo one two NO. Crowd got into those near falls. Atlantis with a corner whip, charge, splash, no one home. Atlantis charges out, and takes backdrop. Santo quick up top - tope rope tope knocks Atlantis all the way out of the corner. Santo adjusts his mask and runs - corner tope! Both guys need a moment to get back in. Santo gets in first, but Atlantis gets him with a shoulder to the midsection and heads up. Top rope plancha by Atlantis, Santo rolls thru, One two NO. Crowd thought that was it. Atlantis takes advantage with ac hest slap and sets Santo up top. Seems unwise. More chest slaps, but Santo blocks one and hops off with a headscissors. Atlantis out angina, and Santo up again - top rope plancha! Ultimo's on the floor, talking to Atlantis and urging him to get back up. Mistico waves the towel for Santo. Santo climbs back in. Atlantis craws back in - and then starts to walk out! Crowd gets on him, so eh comes back. Atlantis charges at Santo, misses a clothesline, Santo drop toe hold, camel clutch - no, Atlantis slips free before he gets it locked on. Atlántida - no, Santo slips out. Atlantis and Santo both almost collide with Baby Richard as Santo gets free, and there's a pause before Santo decides to walk to the ropes and bounces off. Atlantis waves him behind, and distracts the ref as Ultimo trips up Santo. Santo gets up, look out the ring to see what happened, and Atlantis shoves his head thru the ropes. Ultimo grabs Santo's mask from the outside, and Atlantis rolls him up. Richard was distracted by Mistico coming in, and doesn't see Santo's unmasked face - Atlantis has it cover up. One two THREE. (13:20) Baby Richard turns back to Mistico, and misses Ultimo throwing the mask to Atlantis, who puts it on Santo. You haven't lived till you've seen Atlantis raising the roof. Ultimo carries him around on his shoulders as they bring on the plaque to crown him champion. There you go.

As Atlantis his showing off the plaque toe the camera, Ultimo must've ticked Mistico, because Mistico jumps him with a dropkick and a four way brawl is on. Mistico is angry tiny man, and Santo's not a good mood either. Santo goes for Ultimo's mask, but he's going to keep his own. They eventually each a standoff, and there's a break.

Next Week: Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Canek, Halloween, Atlantis, Mistico, Hijo de Santo, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Ultimo Dragon, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000, and much more.

Atlantis celibates, Santo yells at him on the microphone, Atlantis and ultimo celebrate some more. Santo wants a tag revenge match. Atlantis just lash at Mistico. Mistico makes the mask/mask challenge, and the rudos are out of here. Replays and we're done.
