CMLL GDR - 03/18/06 (#17)
Recapped: 03/25/06

Reoccurring features:
(more) Outside the ring with Dr. Wagner:
Lots of stuff I don't quite understand, but I'm sure it's good. No, really.
Survey:
Magadan canvases the people (and mostly kids) outside of the arena - who do they like, Mistco & Dr. Wagner or Los Perros? Mistico/Wagner. Perros. Perros. Mistico - a little kid gets bleeped while explaining! Mistico. Perros. Perros. Perros. The reasoning seems to be either "I like tecnicos/rudos" or "they're the best." Later, Magadan talks to two girls - one who's rooting for the Perros, one who like Mistico.
Time change notes: Let me write it down, just in case the website confuses me again this week.

Caligula, of all people, gets to do one of these spots. La Nazi threatens to hurt us if we don't adjust to the new schedule

There's a break before we go to the first match.

Match 1: Hombre Sin Nombre, Sangre Azteca (c), Okumura vs Pantera, Virus, Volador Jr. (c)
Arena Mexico, 03/10/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:24
Approx Rating: 87. Lots of neat spots held together.
Other Match Notes: No entrances. Possibly interesting choice of captains - we'll see if it means anything.

HSN and Virus are starting in the ring while we're looking at the valets. They don't get too far before tags. Next matchup is Pantera and Okumura. They do basic chain stuff before getting in each other's faces for slaps and working off that. Shoves lead to a six way standoff that leads to nothing. Onto the captains, though they choice camera angles specially not to showcase the the best mat exchange so far; even if there's a good deal of zero fall stale clichés, they're go at it at high rate of speed. Nothing's resolved, tagged back to the first sequence.  Virus does a lot of running, over, rolling over and springboarding into a crossbody. HSN's armbar is blocked, Virus runs up to the corner for an armdrag but doesn't quite get it - he ends up sending him out anyway. Okumura comes in and clothesline Virus down, and then sets him up on the top rope. Virus elbows Okumura as he tries to join him on the top rope, and Virus dives to the floor for 'rana on HSN! Volador dropkicks Okumura out, urns, fakes the dive, and watches as Pantera gets Okumura with a tope instead. Captains left in - Volador misses a corner charge, but manages to backdrop Sangre to the apron. Punch exchange is won by Sangre, but Volador meets him up top while he climbs up. Looks like this is going to be his finisher while he lasts - top rope flip urange! One two three. (4:29) The crowd digs it, which is good.

Between falls, we get the La Nazi spot, and Jesus talks to Hector Garza and Perro Aguayo Jr., in tonight's main event, who are in quite the laughing mood. They're not the slightest bit worried. Break after.

Captains start out, for about five seconds before HSN simply in. Volador, unaware, tries a handspring elbow and HSN kills him with a back suplex. That shall never get old. It doesn't go to beatdown, just a simple two on one which Volador is able to flip out into a double armdrags and flip around some more for no reason. Tags to Pantera and Okumura. Headlock/shoulderblock sequence, but Okumura manages to stand on impact. Back to the face slapping with those two. Pantera takes Okumura down and goes back to going off the ropes, the two being evasive till Pantera lands the reverse tope. Pantera celebrates and ends up getting a chop, but a reversed corner rope allows him to pull out the corner headstand dropkick. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker is pretty typical. Virus and Sangre in now.  Virus makes Sangre look big. HSN comes into help throttle Virus, and they beat him out of the ring. Volador tires his luck, and Okumura rejoins the rudos in the ring as we officially move into the beatdown section. Big move on Volador is HSN hanging him off the apron for a Sangre top rope double stomp - Sangre ends up colliding into his partner after impact, but everyone lives. Pantera never made in, and they're working over Virus some more. Sangre and HSN team up for a Veg-o-matic on Virus, which is great - if there's one thing worth taking from the FBI, that's it. Okumura and HSN cover for the pin (2:39) but wise captain that he is, Sangre realizes they need to find one more man to beat. Pantera brought in for multiple clotheslines, then set up on the top rope, facing out. Okumura behind him, so he can do his own neck threatening finisher: second rope German suplex on Pantera. It doesn't go well. For one, HSN lives in a special universe all his own this moment, because he apparently believes this is a weird Japanese way of doing a powerbomb, because he attempts to spike Pantera on the way down. For his part, Pantera opted not to take a flip on the move, instead more just sliding backwards on his shoulders and back (twisting as he landed to land more on his right side rather than flat back.) Looked quite scary and unnecessarily so. That's it for him. (3:10) Break.

Third fall starts with the rudos still in control. Virus is battling back against Okumura, but gets a long eyerake. HSN works over Pantera in the corner, so he must be sorta okay. Pantera rolls out while they work over Virus - triple boot for him. Pantera brought in, and he takes a triple boot too. Volador in and stomped down by Okumura. Triple boot works all three times! Sangre's whipped by his partners for a dive, but Virus smacks him hard with a forearm as he begins to go thru the ropes. Pantera adds a middle dropkick on Okumura to take him out, but HSN stomps on his head to stop more. Corner whip, reversed, and Pantera follows with a clothesline. HSN set up facing out on the ropes, and pulled into the Tree of Woe. Sangre comes back in to help his partner, but Volador gets him with a honest to god good superkick. Sangre's whipped into HSN, and Volador and Virus trip him up. Pantera adds the dropkick to the head while Virus and Volador pull, sending Sangre's crotch into HSN's head. Okumura back in - WHOA, he just dropped Pantera on his head with a release German suplex! Was he upset the first one didn't kill him? I screamed watching that. Okumura covers for one, before standing up to meet Volador. Pantera rolls out. Okumura catches Volador's punch, kicks him, scoops him up, sets him up, and give shim a reverse DDT. One two Virus breaks it up with a dropkick. Virus off the ropes, clothesline is caught by Okumura, Okumura tries a full nelson, Virus drops down free and bodyscissors Okumura into a cradle one two NO. Okumura tries a a clothesline, Virus catches it, pulls it around to a hammerlock, and picks Okumura up - nudo! Virus drops to his feet - Okumura is broken and gives! (2:43) Okumura attacks Virus from behind, but Virus back elbows him down. Springboard elbow drop, no one home, one two no. Virus' punches are blocked, and HSN gives him a double knee to the midsection gutbuster. One two three. (3:07)  Volador, and immediately sending HSN out with a spinning headscissors. Volador jumps to the top rope - Asai Moonsault! He got some height there. Pantera, still alive!, tries to rush Sangre with a boot before he can get it, but Sangre catches it and shoves him back. Sangre heads up top, but Pantera charges the corner and pulls him off with a headstand headscissors! (Panterasphere doesn't quite roll off the tongue.) Pantera heads up himself - top rope NOTHING meets dropkick one two THREE. (3:45) Sangre Azteca is excited. Actually, by that angle, he's a bit too excited but let's move on. Break.

Magadan's usual interview with the main tecnicos here. Dr. Wagner has a plan!

Match 2: Perro Aguayo Jr., Mistico vs Perro Aguayo Jr., Hector Garza
Arena Coliseo, 03/12/06

  1. Perros
  2. Tecnicos
  3. Perros

Winner: Perros
Match Time: 11:55
Approx Rating: 80
Other Match Notes: They sorta list captains in the graphic, which is odd - it's Mistico and Perro even though it doesn't seem to matter. There's a different ring announcer for Coliseo than usual - I know you care. Maybe it's Justin Roberts? I don't think so - not enough r's. Not wasting any time, Hector works in his prayer during his introduction. Will they attack the tecnicos in the aisle? Monito is with the tecnicos. Mistico's cape gets ripped off by fans, I think. Wagner is wearing the UWA belt. No attack! Oh, wait, Hector dropkicks Wagner as he comes up to the apron, and it's on. Perro and Mistico have a standoff, which lasts until Hector can attack Mistico from behind.  Perro goes all Perro on him. Wagner takes a Flair Flop off a corner clothesline. Wagner is sent out, and then Mistico is hung upside down over the ropes for Perro to beat up. Perro makes a move towards Monito, and Monito takes cover. Wagner chases Perro around the ring while Hector dropkicks Mistico hard to the floor. Hector helps out with a sliding dropkick on Wagner again. Perro takes Mistico, and throws him hard and far into the ramp. Garza works over Wagner in the ring some too. Perro leaves Mistico outside and helps on Wagner. Clothesline, and some posing. Dropkick to the head/kick to chest combo. Garza covers, one two three. (2:14) Mistico in right after, but he's immediately worked over with chops. Perro mocks the Mistico chants. Lots of noise for this match. Double hiptoss into a face first powerbomb. Perro and Hector aren't on the same page on the followup - Hector does a dropkick to the head while Perro kinda just watches. Perro asks Garza to put him in position, and heads up. Slam, Perro to the middle rope, double stomp, one two three. (3:03) Perros are awful casual about it. Not Monito! They rip off his Mistico top and force a PdM shirt on him! Dropkick/kick to the chest combo! Mistico and Wagner angrily charge in. Mistico covers up Monito to prevent further violence, but the Perros are pretty satisfied. Mistico takes the t-shirt off, and he and Wagner tease ripping it. Monito's carried to the back - I guess he's done his work for the night. Wagner and Mistico finally do rip the shirt up, and Mistico takes some time to rip it into very tiny shreds. Replays, while the crowd makes all sorts of notices. Break.

Crowd is chanting WAGNER as we return, but he's still getting beat down for all the good it does. Hector strips off his shirt as the fall begins. Crowd switches to a MISTICO chant for a bit. Perro spends a moment untying Wagner's mask, but not long - it's time for the comeback already? Wagner ducks a double clothesline, Mistico hits a springboard plancha but the rudos catch him and toss him behind, Mistico lands on his feet and Wagner uses the distraction to double clothesline the rudos. Superkick (1!) on Garza while Mistico clears Perro out. Spinning armdrag sends Perro into the rope sat out, and Mistico explodes out of the ring with a tope on him. Meanwhile, Perro is rushing around the ring, managing to duck a Wagner clothesline on one pass, but getting knocked silly by a Mistico clothesline. Wagner waits for him to stumble over his way, and drops him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Mistico's mask untied, and I don't know when that happened. Mistico brings Perro in as Wagner digs Garza out from the crowd.  Crowd chanting for Mistico as he threatens Perro in the corner. Wagner back in the ring with him. Mistico throws Perro around by his hair, and out he goes. Tecnicos opt to pose and point rather than follow the rudos out of the ring. They work on coordinating the chants.  Perro back in and trying to ambush Wagner with a dropkick, but he moves. Mistico laves, but Hector comes in. His clothesline is turned around into a powerbomb setup, and now Mistico's back in - La Mistica on Perro, powerbomb on Garza. They don't show the pinfall, maybe Garza got his tights pulled again? Didn't look like it. One two three. (3:02) No break, no replays, but perhaps a clip - straight into fall three.

Tecnicos hold the ring with the rudos regrouping on the outside. Perro mockingly leads on the Mistico chant. Another clip. Once things get settled, we've got Mistico and Garza in. Long crowd shot, but I don't think we're getting a clip. Garza insists on Mistico looking at something behind him, and Mistico falls for it. Garza's quite satisfied with himself when he kicks Mistico down. Whip, clothesline misses, Mistico with handspring, but Garza catches him in a waistlock. Garza puts Mistico down in the corner, and - spanks him lightly? Okay. Garza regrabs Mistico and places him on the top rope. Punches to keep Mistico there while Garza clowns around. Garza tries to bait Wagner in, but he won't go for it. Garza turns for a surprise punch on Mistico blocks it with a kick and comes off the middle rope with a spinning headscissors. Mistico teases the dive with a handspring flip, and Wagner comes into pose with him. Crowd shot, but no clip this time. Perro and Hector talk it over on the outside, and Perro comes into take on Wagner. Crowd chanting for Wagner. Perro with a chest slap, but that just ends up getting him ore pumped. He urges Perro to give him another, and it fires up Wagner more. Perro loads up for a big one, Wagner blocks and trips him up with a kick. Wagner poses a bit, and Perro is able to ambush him with a flurry of strikes. Perro glares at the crowd, which boots. Perro off the ropes, and into a Wagner powerslam. There's the dropkick to the head too. Perro rolls out, and Wagner stares at him - missing Hector come into dropkick in the back. Kick to the back too. Perro rolls back in to help, though he doesn't get as far as standing up. Whip for Wagner, he goes over, under, rolling over, and manages an armdrag on Garza. There's another. There's - no, Garza pulled up short at the time, and Wagner went down alone. Garza decides to kick him while he's down. Corner whip for Wagner, Garza charges in, and eats a back elbow. Garza rolls backwards on impact, Wagner chases him and gets a sunset flip, Garza rolls thru, Wagner covers up to protect himself for the dropkick from Garza, and Perro dropkicks his head from behind! Mistico in, and dropkicking Perro out. Mistico sizes up a dive, but Garza cut shim off with a clothesline to send him out. Wagner knocks Garza over the top with a clothesline, and goes to the apron himself. Lots of posing while Garza has to stand around - apron top con giro! Mistico and Perro back in, and Perro doesn't like it. Mistico waved by, and there's La Mistica rather easily. Perro's close to the ropes - now he's got the ropes, because Hector pulled his hand onto the ropes. That was right in front of the ref, who yelled at Garza but is letting it stand. Mistico somehow know what happened without ever seeing it, but Perro takes him down with a dropkick to the knee. Perro slams him, and signals that he's going to end it. Going all the way up this time. Top rope - somersault senton? How unlikely, except for Mistico moving out of the way in time. Mistico covers, one two Shane McMahon Hector Garza pulls out the ref. That can't be legal. Hector plays innocent and distracts Mistico again. Mistico manages to duck under a clothesline from behind by Perro, Mistico gets a waistlock and tries for a rollup, Perro sorta kicks him off towards Hector, Hector pulls Mistico's mask, and Perro gets him in an inside cradle. Ref? He's talking to Wagner on the floor, so while Perro's getting a count of infinity, Garza (who has to run all the way around the ring) shoves Wagner out of the way and throws the ref back in. One two three. (5:51) Perro spanks Mistico for good measure, and Hector sneakily gives him the mask back. The ref says that's it - I guess that's why they called captains earlier. I wish they were more consistent or made some sense with that.

We've got plenty of time left, but it's because it's time to cut promos to set up next week's match. I'd think Mistico would want Hector, but the challenge appears to go to Perro. Perro rallies his fans and eventually agrees to a singles match - for Hector vs Mistico. Hector doesn't like this idea at ALL. Perro rants to Magadan and I guess settles on taking the match himself, because that's what we end up with. Mistico runs Perro off and does his own interview Magadan. They chat about Maximo's hair somehow during this, and Magadan is very angry.

That's it.
