CMLL Mini Line - 03/18/06 (#215)

Welcome To The Show Vignette: Los Perros del Mal.

Lots of plugs for Luchas 2000 magazine thru ought.

Clips of training sessions, as they talk about the people who run training and show some of it. They teach mic skills? Kinda shocking!

Match 1: Sagrado (c), Volador Jr., Trueno vs Safari (c), Misterioso II, Metro
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05

  1. Safari
  2. Sagrado
  3. Sagrado

Winner: Sagrado (2-1)
Match Time: 6:45
Approx Rating: a bit paint by numbers.
Other Match Notes: Odd tecnico/tecnico match. No entrances.

1: Instead of working it as a technical matches, Misterioso and Safari quickly turn rudo, with Metro joining them. I guess it makes sense, given where two of the characters are going, but I would've liked a tease of a straight match. First fall is all 1 on 3s, climaxing with a double FU on Sagrado to set up the triple pose/submission deal.

2: Beatdown continues until Misterioso misses a corner charge on Sagrado (about 1:10), spearing the post. There might be a clip right after, or just a poorly timed look at the crowd. Stop using the superkick, Volador! We need to think up a different strike for that situation, just to help. Misterioso gets handspring kicked into the ropes, and hangs there for a while before Volador show sup to give him a slingshot legdrop. Sagrado barely makes it to Safari on the springboard moonsault bodyblock. Another clip between falls.

3: Clips during this fall, too. Metro doesn't seem to have much wind when it comes to Trueno armdragging him around. Safari gets double whipped, but turns it into a tope on Misterioso. Trueno waits forever to do a dive, and Misterioso just pulls him off apron corner. Good move. Sagrado gives Trueno a low German suplex for two. Sagrado side steps a dropkick, and gets a camel clutch on him - but that's just to set up a Volador dropkick. Sagrado gets an up and over sunset flip on Misterioso for two. Misterioso comes right back to try the Gory Special, but Volador breaks that up with a superkick. Sagrado reveres that into a sunset flip for the pin. Safari tries to help out by coming off the rope, but gets cut down by a Volador dropkick, and he's done. That's the match.

Vignette: Backstage on card preparation - all in partial kayfabe, about putting cards together the public will like. Someone actually says here that hey don't want to be too repetitive! They talk about all the other production, security, and other tasks it takes to put together a show.

Match 2: Universo 2000 (c), Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero vs Perro Aguayo Jr. (c), Hector Garza, Terrible
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05

  1. Perros
  2. Perros

Winner: Perros (2-1)
Match Time: 10:09
Approx Rating: Usual.
Other Match Notes:
Perros get attacked as they enter.

1: All Universo's side winning the brawl. Perro is knocked into the first row, and bodybuilder chick and boyfriend fan him back to life. Hector takes a three man wheel barrow suplex.  Terrible gets a superbomb from Ultimo, and they'll actually cover him for the pin. They need one more, but Perro's staying away from the ring. Rey collects him for the GdI sit on the outside, in for the Bucanero Castiga, and then he's held upside and kicked until he gives. Yet, Universo keeps on kicking, and they overturn it.  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

2: Again, the beatdown continues. Turn around is Perro Rolling out of the way from a double elbow drop, and Los Perros del Mal storming the ring. Crowd is quite anti-Perros this week. Perro gets in a dive, and catapults Ultimo into the seats. Perro chases Universo threw the crowd all the way back onto the stage, and then brings him back into the ring. It settles down to a one one one Universo Perro encounter in the ring, until Universo misses a charge and spears the post. Ultimo and Rey come in to help, but Gaza helps his partner, and Perro ends up giving a silla to Universo. Garza fights two on one for a bit, but the number get him. Terrible gets dropkicked off the apron, and Rey is sent into him with a monkey flip toe con giro. Garza and Ultimo are left in the ring, and they fight for leverage in a odd way. Ultimo gets sorta an upside down abdominal stretch, but it's still the same stalling bit as usual. That takes one ref. The other dumbly wanders too close to Perro and Universo as they brawl in the ring, and gets a chest slap from Universo, knocking him down. Universo tries a low blow kick, Perro blocks , Perro connects on his low block kick. Ref recovers to count, one two three. Ultimo tried to help out, but Garza low blowed him as well. Straight falls. Lots of replays and probably some talking.

Stellar Moments
Combination:
One Rayo Tapatio tosses Caligula up into a missile dropkick form the other.
Tecnico: Maximo pins Ohara (listed here as Okumura) with a German suplex
Painful: Masada spikes Pantera with a fisherman's buster. Pantera is backboarded out
Sensational: Negro Casas silla Mephisto
Insult: Atlantis and Monito having a falling out after Atlantis tosses him on Mistico.

Match 3: Mr. Aguila (c), Damian 666, Halloween vs Mistico, el Hijo del Santo (c), Negro Casas
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:43
Approx Rating: could've been a lot better
Other Match Notes:
Mistico has a tiny Mistico. I wonder if there's same kid as with Dr. Wagner a couple weeks ago? Looks about as big. He gets the pose with Santo and Mistico, so good for him. Mistico presents a plaque to celebrate Santo's 23rd year of wrestling. Where did Negro go? Santo's like "dude, get in the picture." Negro's never one not to get in the picture. Aguila wears a crazy wolf mask to the ring; god knows why. Why don't they have a combo La Familia de Tijuana video? Rudo side seems a little bit out matched here. Halloween almost forgot he was going to do introductions - ah, it was just a clever ruse to attack the tecnicos.

1: Beatdown. Halloween whiffs on the giant swing/dropkick Mistico spot. But he gamely goes on like nothing's odd. Santo gets the triple legdrop. They end up missing a corner charge on Mistico a whole 90 seconds in, and there's the comeback. The fans boo? I don't get it. It settles down without really any hot moves, and ends as soon as they get back to the ring. Negro gets a standing version of the corner square dropkick on Damian to beat him, though he's in the ropes so Baby Richard bails on the pin. That's fine, because the other two have taken care of business by then - Santo comes off the top with a tope for Halloween and puts him in a camel clutch, and Mistico gets Mr. Aguila with an up and over sunset flip. That'll do.

2: Familia de Tijuana teasing a walkout? CHECK! Santo bumps around both of them in the most usual way, and Aguila takes a spinning headscissors out as well. Next up is Mistico, who decides to listen to the fans and not shake Halloween's offered hand. Of course, Damian does it for him, and they end up hugging. FdT is much better 2 on 1 here, quickly kicking Mistico and lifting him up for a Aguila missile dropkick. FdT on a double rolling leg bar and Aguila keeps help from coming as Mistico gives up. Santo is in, so he gets beat up, and eventually tossed up in the air so Halloween could spear him from the middle rope. That looked good, though I don't know if I take a bump that causes my head to bounce off the mat if I'm El Hijo del Santo. Negro, who was no help here, immediately checks on him.

3: Back in a beatdown to start this fall. For all of 45 seconds before Mistico starts another comeback. 619, CHECK. ANOTHER 619, CHECK. Aguila and Mistico both appeal to the crowd before they lockup - this is a potential interesting "I used to be YOU (now look what happened!)" story, but they just immediately set up a dive, Mr. Aguila's Asai Moonsault. This leaves the other four in place. Negro actually contributes a thrust kick! It's not really his fault, he's got nothing to do. Santo planchas both FdT guys and Negro helps cover for two. Negro and Santo are two strong for their clotheslines, and FdT take the slide out. Dive time - Mistico scares them in position with a 619, and we get a Silla and a tope. Aguila and Mistico left. Mistico has to wave to the crowed before starting up. They play kick evasion, Mistico lands a dropkick to the knee, and then we have a mirror off the ropes spots, and Mistico gets La Mistica immediately.

Match 4: Atlantis (c), Jado, Gedo vs Dr. Wagner Jr. (c), Dos Caras Jr., Hijo de Lizmark
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:36
Approx Rating: By the numbers
Other Match Notes:
Jado, at least, is wearing a CTU shirt. We don't get to see Gedo pre-match because there are no entrance and they attack the tecnicos immediately.

1: Beatdown. How usual. Crowd cheers loudly for Wagner, but Atlantis is methodically beating him on the ramp. Atlantis tries to get Ke Monito to come in the ring and help him against Dr. Wagner, but Monito wants no part of it. Atlantis tries to talk sense in him, but Monito slips thru his legs and walks up ramp. That distracts Atlantis enough to get broadsided by Wagner, but Atlantis quickly comes back with a kick and a DDT. Rudos eventually get organized and start doing three on ones. Triple boot for Dos, Dos is hung on the ropes for a double top rope axhandle to the back by CTU duo. Wagner gets worked over in a non-specific way, and Lizmark takes corner charges. Crossface of Jado takes care of him, and Jado takes his time letting go.  Gedo gives Dr. Wagner a swinging neckbreaker. Atlantis starts to pin him, and then asks Gedo to whip Wagner to him - Atlántida for good measure.

2: Beatdown continues. Crowd keeps chanting for Wagner, even though he's doing nothing but being choked by Jado. Wagner fights his way to a comeback about 1:10 in, kicking and clotheslining the CTU duo when they put their heads down too soon for a double backdrop. Comeback stuff. Wagner gets a revenge suplex on the map. I'm completely numb to this after four matches laid out very identically. It settles down to Jado and Dos Caras Jr. in the ring, and they almost immediately blow a sunset flip, Jado getting too far. They still go on and do the roll thru because that's what we do. Get to the finishes. Gedo has no idea a German's coming after the press slam until Dos starts doing it, and he takes it hard. They go directly to a SKY ad one second after the finish. Atlantis and Wagner tease stuff on the ramp, and Wagner ends up power slamming Atlantis and punching him a bunch. Wagner threatens to use the grilling on the ramp on Atlantis, but the refs aren't down with that idea.

3: It's the fall where the tecnicos get to their sequence. Dos/Gedo, Lizmark/Jado, and Wagner/Atlantis, of course. Crowd is strong behind Wagner. Wagner does the Wagner pose, and Atlantis does his own Wagner pose! The wrestling is okay too. Wagner ends up landing the apron tope con giro. The other four hit the ring. Lizmark taking the the complete shot looks like Lizmark clotheslining Gedo. Superkicks and springboard dropkicks on the comeback. Both Mexicans get near falls, only for the other Japanese guys to break it up. Even more superkicks! CTU just escapes the ring and begs off outside of it, and the Mexicans follow, in some delayed comeback revenge bit. Dos suplexes Jado on the stage before they finally give the focus back to Atlantis and Dr. Wagner. Dr. Wagner ends up with a corner sunset flip, but Atlantis rolls it back and grabs the middle ropes - one two three. Atlantis is thrilled to be the winner.

Wagner challenges Atlantis post match, but Atlantis just mocks him and walks away.

Next Week: Rey Bucanero, Jado, Misterioso, Hijo de Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Ultimo Guerreros, Universo, Hombre Sin Nombre, Santo, Hijo del Santo, Negro Casas, Averno, La Mascara and much more.

Replays and we're done.
