CMLL Mini Line - 02/18/06 (#206)
Recapped: 05/11/06

Gala skipped a week here. BOOOOO.

Welcome To The Show Vignette: Mistico

There's a weird clip in the first segment talking bit. They show the entrances for the next match in the previews, but not the match.

Match 1: Halloween, Damian 666, Tarzan Boy (c) vs LA Park, Dos Caras Jr. (c), Ultimo Dragon
Arena Mexico, 08/19/06

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 11:03
Approx Rating: Okay.
Other Match Notes: Yet we still have time for Halloween to do his entrances. Looks like all is good with Tarzan and FdT this week. Damian does half Halloween's introduction in English, which is always fun.

Tarzan and Ultimo do a little bit of chain wrestling, and then it descends into the beatdown. Damián distracts the referee and gets in a low blow kick on Dragon. Dos takes the triple legdrop. Park is isolated in the ring and FdT gives him the worst 3D ever - Damian isn't in position on time, so Park takes a sort of flapjack driver. He grabs his head and rolls out, and Dragon takes his place. He's held up for a top rope elbow smash from Tarzan, and that's enough. (2:36) Dos comes back in, and gets beat down because we need another pin. Mexican Stunner, laving Dos standing and staggered, Damian adds a back cracker, and Dos stands back up so Halloween can get in the Spear. That's the fall (3:06) Break.

Back for replays.

Beatdown goes into the second fall. Park is brought and Halloween has a good superkick. Dos turns it right after, when a corner whip springboard bit gets turned around. FdT tease walking out, because it is a FdT match. Park strut spot, check. Halloween and Damián kiss spot, check. La Park does all the work, and then Dos comes in to get the cross arm breaker on Damián (3:48) Park gets his own cross arm breaker (not so good) on Halloween (4:01) Tarzan gets the Dragon Cutter for good measure. Break

So, back to Tarzan and Dragon since they've got one more fall to go. Tarzan sells Ultimo's kicks as being more painful then most, but then we give it back when Tarzan is too strong to be knocked down. There's a crazy mascot in the tecnico section today, and it is indeed crazy. They cut to a crowd shot immediately after Tarzan's been dropkicked out, so something's happened there. We pick with Dos and Halloween in mid sequence. Tarzan watches this - Halloween taking the corner enziguri and Damián taking tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and a slide to the floor - from the ramp with a disgusted look on his face. I have no idea what that's all about. Dos teases a dive and leaves, and we're back to Dragon and Tarzan. Dragon tries, but does not get a pin after three three kick combo. Tarzan escapes the Dragon Cutter by doing nothing, which is odd. Tarzan does not gain a pin after a suplex. Tarzan slams Dragon and makes a slow trip up, only to get dropkicked to the floor. Ultimo gets in his Asai moonsault here - so what happened before? In the ring, Dos immediately powerslams Halloween, but the ref doesn't count right away and everyone's waiting around and confused, because Park's late coming off the top with a sunset flip to cut off Damian. Now they count, and now they all get two counts. Fall away slams, with Dos trying a bridge for two. Park stands and watches as Dos presses Halloween drops him, and superkicks Halloween into a Dos German suplex. Dos can't hold the pin, but floats over to cover, while Park runs to the apron and goes over to the ropes to sunset flip powerbomb Damian to the floor. That didn't look right, and Park's holding his knee. Oh, Dos got the three, though we didn't see it. Tecnicos bring Park back in, but he's hurting. Replays make it look like Damian ended up landing on Park's knee, so maybe that's it. Damián kinda tried to take a safer bump and failed.

Stellar Moments
Sensational
: Bronco does a Silver King dive.
Castigo: The camera focuses on Warrior taking out Ultimo with a tope, but I guess we're also supposed to see Heavy Metal drop Rey with a apron tope con giro.
New: Sensei with a suicide tope con giro on Super Comando
Spectacular: La Mascara top rope plancha on Texano in the G1 Climax final.
Tecnico: Texano Jr. gets La Mascara with a tope con giro of his own.

Match 2: Mistico, Perro Aguayo Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs Atlantis, Universo 2000 (c), Ultimo Guerrero in a relevos incredible match
Arena Mexico, 08/19/06

  1. Universo
  2. Wagner
  3. Wagner

Winner: Wagner
Match Time: 12:43
Approx Rating: 90. Great crowd, fun match.
Other Match Notes:
Pyro for this match. Perro and Mistico meet on the ramp and exchange shoves, which works out bad for them being partners and all. They make it to the ring but argue there while Wagner's entering - he has to break it up, and blames it all on Perro. Ultimo has two belts - the CMLL LH one for sure. The other one looks like a CMLL one, but I'm guessing it supposed to be the WWA Tag belt he just won with Perro three days prior in Puebla. Atlantis, out last, is getting a mixed reaction from the first note of his song. Lots of boos when his name is announced. Universo starts attacking people before Atlantis is even in the ring - we see Wagner pose in the captain after, but it's tough to tell if Universo started the beatdown because they show the matchup graphics, and then Universo's team is in control.

They break it down to the individual rivalries pretty quick - Universo/Perro and Mistico/Ultimo on the inside, leaving Wagner and Atlantis in the center ring. The crowd - at least the vocal portion of it - hates Atlantis. Mistico hates his knees, because that's what he lads on when Ultimo press slams him out. Universo's team (which I'll call the rudos from here on out, because that's what they are) isolated Wagner to be worked over, as the crowd cheers for him. They bring him to the ramp, and Atlantis waves to the fans before doing the GdI sit on Wagner. Lots of punches too. Clothesline. Atlantis wants to be friends with all the kids, but all the kids are wearing Perros del Mal t-shirts. Meanwhile, Mistico's getting worked over the ring. They dislike Atlantis more than they like Mistico. Universo and Atlantis set up Mistico on the top rope, and Ultimo has no problem giving him the Guerrero Special. For reasons I can't possibly understand, Universo shows Mistico out rather than pin him. Wagner back in, whipped to Atlantis, and there's the Atlántida. (2:20) This week, Atlantis is playing it like he can't hear any boos. I think we see Perro for the first time this fall, standing over Mistico on the outside, and seemingly wondering what he missed on his coffee break. This ain't his fault. Universo and Ultimo bring Atlantis over, and they do the GdI huddle dance - that's it, he's a rudo! And he's blowing kisses. Replay of Ultimo killing Mistico. Do you really want to break your fall with your hangs on that bump? I'd think you'd be liable to break your hands. Replay of the finish too.

Second fall starts with Wagner and Mistico laid out in the ring and Ultimo and Atlantis high ten-ing. Why does Atlantis make "I want the belt" motions? He has the belt! Maybe he wants Wagner's other belt. Ke Monito is here - he came with Atlantis, and now Ultimo is yelling at him to help out and hit Mistico while Ultimo holds him down. Monito grudgingly goes along with it. Mistico's all "what was that for?" and Monito's in a tough spot for a blue monkey. Atlantis is entertaining himself by untying Dr. Wagner's mask, although Perro pulls him away from that for a moment. Universo's brought Mistico out onto the ramp to throw him around. Crowd chanting for Wagner the loudest, but he's kicked down on the ramp. Seems to be a clip here - both Wagner and Perro are resting on the ropes while the rudos are working over Mistico on the ramp. Ultimo and Atlantis decide to charge the resting duo, and end up taking backdrops into the ring. Mistico breaks free form Universo and Wagner springboards him into a double dropkick on Atlantis and Wagner. Perro beats down Universo on the ramp while the tecnicos get their revenge in the ring. Mistico has an array of kicks and he'd like to use them all. Wagner unties Atlantis mask in the middle of the ring. Perro slams Universo on the ramp. Wagner' snow trying to take Atlantis' mask off, but Atlantis is blocking and the refs are trying to get Wagner free. He's got it almost all off, but Wagner's using it to cover his face. Crowd is chanting for Perro, who's posing in the corner. Things settle down to a singles match, and of course Mistico want to take on Universo. Universo isn't in a hurry to get in till the crowd starts chanting Mistico, which enrages the Capo. Mistico lands a dropkick but misses the second one, and gets stomped down by Universo.  Corner whip, Mistico with a double jump cross body, Universo catches him, slams him down, and kicks him on the ground. Universo poses - and Perro dropkicks him from behind. Crazy stomps! Perro stops, to get Mistico up so he can help stomp. Atlantis is protesting this on the apron. For absolutely no reason, Dr. Wagner urns cross ring, and punches Ultimo in the face. This is a crazy match. Perro and Mistico double backdrop Universo, and then Perro boosts him into the dropkick. Perro whips Mistico into a slingshot tope con giro too. Atlantis decks Perro with a dropkick - Perro flew on that one. Perro escapes the next, clotheslines Atlantis down, and gets him with the running double stomp. One two three. (4:57) Wagner gets Ultimo with the grounded octopus, and that's it for this fall. (5:02)

No break again. Crowd sort cooled down during the break, but they're back in a Mistico chant immediately. Mistico and UG start, Mistico doing his normal handspring backflip routine, and then getting knocked out of the ring hard by a UG shoulderblock. Universo gives that two thumbs up. Perro encourages Mistico to get back in. Mistico gets to the apron, and connects on a 619 to Ultimo's midsection. My video freezes up a bit here, but I'm thinking Mistico probably such under a clothesline on the way in, came off the far ropes, and then I pick up with him running into the gigantic flapjack. Ultimo gives him a mask mare, and rips it up some more - his face is partially exposed. Whip, Mistico backflips off Ultimo's chest, jumps to his shoulders, and pulls out a 'rana. Ultimo slides out and ducks down to avoid a dive, so Mistico gets him with a slingshot 'rana instead. POSE. Tag to Wagner, and Atlantis in to opposite. Crowd not chanting for Atlantis. We take a look at them, and miss Wagner knocking Atlantis down. Corner whip, Atlantis kips up and out, Wagner charges into an armdrags, Atlantis charges and lands a tilt-a-whirl armdrag, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and another tilt-a-whirl back baker. Crowd boos Atlantis' offense, and when poses. He's starting to get hurt a little bit. Atlantis goes back to Wagner. 'rana is turned into a powerbombs, and the WAGNER chant starts back up. Snap mare, Wagner off the ropes, dropkick to the head doesn't look quite good because Atlantis is ducking to avoid it. Wagner opts to go after the mask again. Universo comes in and breaks it up with a kick, which draws Perro in. The other two roll out while Universo works over Perro with kicks. The crowd is behind Perro here (not Universo and his odd olive green outfit.) Corner whip, charge, Perro moves, and Universo hit the buckle. Perro with a big powerslam and some stomps. Universo gets stood up for chops. Whip, reversed, Universo's hiptoss is blocked, Perro gets an armdrags. Universo up and booting Perro. but he misses another corner charge and spears the corner post this time. Perro backs all the way up on the apron, and rushes him with a silla. It's breaking down in the ring - Wagner's in, but he's takes a drop toe hold from both the rudos into the buckle. Mistico comes in and ducks a double clothesline before dropkicking Atlantis out. Ultimo charge Wagner, Wagner moves, and Ultimo takes the knee bump to the floor. Wagner goes to the apron while Mistico goes to the far corner - Wagner ramp toe con giro, Mistico tope rope plancha! Universo and Perro are back in, and Universo flattens Perro with a clothesline. Senton! You really should cover, Universo! He's going up instead. Top rope splash misses (mostly - legs still connected, but apparently didn't hurt that much.) Perro drags Universo by his hair to another corner, quickly double stomps him, and then heads up for the exclamation point - top rope double stomp. One two THREE. (5:21) Crowd approves. Replays. The rudos pose on the stairs, to boos.

Vignette: Perro, Garza, - who meet women as they leave the leave their elevator - talking about today being The Day. They've got a limo ride to the arena. This is so a Four Horseman homage. Garza is a bit nervous, but I guess Perro has a plan. Perro does the "we're not tecnicos or rudos" bit - well, this match for sure. Los Perros and the women enter with fans cheering for them, and then Perro yells at security for some reason. I guess they've decides this room is their dressing room, and thrown the security out.

Match 3: Hector Garza vs Pierroth in a hair match
Arena Mexico, 08/19/06

  1. Hector tornillo moonsault (1:08)
  2. Pierroth pin (1:27)
  3. Hector pin (5:53)

Winner: Hector (2-1)
Match Time: 8:28
Approx Rating: Acted out fine.
Other Match Notes:
Tarzan's with the crew now, wearing the PdM t-shirt. The whole group comes out with Garza. Halloween's not wearing his makeup, but he still looks sorta orange. While everyone else is wearing black shirts, Perro's wearing a white one. Pierroth has an army of Perro masked people - Hijo del Pierroth is one, but it seems like trainees who aren't working security. They're all being Pierroth, which is nice. Pierroth is met on the ramp by a member of the commission, who seems to have had enough of this silliness. We've got about two dozen people out here, and the commissioner decides each side is only going to be allowed one corner person. Pierroth huddles with his bunch a bit, and chooses Hijo del Pierroth, but makes his way to the crowd to give specific instructions to La Nazi about something. She goes to the back, as the other Pierroth's are sent thru the crowd to the back. There's a stock crowd shot they keep showing during this - to hide cuts, I guess, but if you use it three times in a minute, it becomes apparent. Hector's told the same rule, and we're too busy looking at the Pierroth's filling out (while yelling at the crowd) to see that he's chosen Perro Aguayo Jr. or that Pierroth's jumped Hector in the confusion.

Whip, clothesline by Pierroth. PdM member are still leaving as Pierroth dropkicks Garza down. Pierroth tries for a 'rana, and Garza powerbombs him as he should. Hector thinks about going up, but the crowd seems to tell him no, and he tells himself no. There's another powerbomb,, and now he pulls Pierroth towards the corner. Going up for sure this time. Top rope pose, tornillo moonsault one two three. (1:08) Well, that went bad for Pierroth. Perro in to check on his guy while Hijo de Pierroth acts crazy. (Acts?) Break.

Back for replays.

Garza is on Pierroth immediately after the bell with a dropkick. That knocks Pierroth out of the ring, but Hijo del Pierroth picks him up and holds him. Perro knocks Pierroth away and holds Pierroth instead, and Garza goes up - but Pierroth gets away, and Hector moonsaults his corner man. Pierroth's gotten part of the grill of the ramp, and smashes it on Hector. Pierroth brings it back in. Corner whip, corner clothesline. Fans boo. Corner whip, charge into a drop toe hold, and Pierroth his the corner buckle. Hector slams him, and slowly heads up. Taking too long. Top roe plancha is rolled thru, Pierroth puts his feet on the ropes (I think - overhead angle makes it tough to tell) while holding onto the cover, one two three. (1:27) Hijo de Pierroth is begging off about something - maybe he held Pierroth's feet down? Garza is taking this directly to the commissioner, and I think he's ejecting Hijo de Pierroth for his interference. Hijo de Pierroth is slow to accept this. The commissioner gets a microphone and makes his case a bit louder. This still takes some time to accomplish. They show replays while he finally leaves. Looks like Pierroth initially had his feet on the ropes, then under the ropes, then hooked around the ropes, and finally held down by Pierroth. Garza was madly kicking out the whole time. Break just as they're signaling the start of the third fall.

Pierroth is walking Garza around ringside by his hair. Obligatory trip to the announce booth. Back to the ring. Perro slaps Pierroth in the back. Garza's really grown his hair out. Pierroth misses with a clothesline, Garza tries one of his, but submission master Pierroth grabs it and turns it into a fujiwara armbar. Hector pounds the mat in pain, and then grabs the bottom rope - Pierroth is slow to let go but does. Pierroth tries to do a came clutch instead, but Garza blocks it, before slipping free and putting his own one on. Fans are chanting for Garza. Pierroth eventually fights free, sending Garza out. He pulls Pierroth out to join him, and pounds him a bit. Slam on the floor. Perro gives advance to his man. Garza brings Pierroth back in, whip, sunset roll ends with a Garza dropkick to the back of the head. One two NO. Garza slaps Pierroth in the back. Whip, powerslam. One two NO. Garza whip, reversed, Pierroth puts his head down too soon and gets kicked in the back. Garza clothesline one two NO. Perro gets the fans chanting Garza's name again. Slam, and he's headed up. Perro tells him not to do it, and Garza takes it under consideration - and heads up anyway - top rope moonsault comes up empty! Pierroth pins him with a forearm to the face, an arm very obviously hooked around the ropes. The ref ain't having that and gives Pierroth a five count to let go. Pierroth and the ref end up having an argument. Garza kicks Pierroth when he turns around and powerbombs him. Garza going up again, and the crowd is unsure. So is Garza, and it's causing him to go very slow. Why is La Nazi on the stage with the metal pipe? Garza's wondering that too, and climbs down. Pierroth uses the distraction to roll Garza up from behind, but the ref is still looking at La Nazi, so that does him no good. Perro - apparently having circled thru the crowd to get behind La Nazi on the stage - attacks her from behind and gets the pipe himself. Shot to La Nazi's head (flattening on the pipe, as usual. Now Pierroth is the one who gets up to stare, and Garza's the one taking advantage - low blow kick, clothesline to knock him down. Garza covers, scissoring a leg, and the ref turns around - one two three! (5:53) The crowd goes nuts. Perro, who was getting yelled at by the commission, comes in to celebrate. The rest of Perros del Mal make it out as confetti falls - mostly on the ramp, where no one's at, but the thought is nice. The barber's in the ring, but first Hector yells at Pierroth, who want one more fall. Pierroth is kicked down and stomped. The Perro stuff the leaves down Pierroth's mouth, in revenge for Pierroth stuff dog food down the Perro's mouths last week, which they show us in a replay. They don't actually get to cutting before a break...

Celebrate Mexico: Arena Mexico mini documentary/commercial. They have a montage of highlights at the end which sure seems to include Arena Coliseo highlights. Oh well.

Next Week: Santo, Mistico, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Ultimo Guerrero, Hector Garza, Dr. Wagner Jr., Dos Caras Jr., Negro Casas, Averno, Mephisto, Ultimo Dragon, Universo 2000, and much more.

...and now we get the head shaving. Hector holds Pierroth in place while the barber does his work, which is probably a good idea. Halloween's mocking him at the same time, which is probably not a good idea. They leave the back fringe on, to make him look funny. And then they stick his head in the leave bag and stomp him a bunch. Tarzan is watching this from the ramp, but he's wearing the shirt. Replays of the finish. Replays of the haircutting, but they're running short, I guess. Live, Pierroth is trying to rally back with the small steps, but gets pounded once again.
