Welcome To The Show Vignette: Halloween

Match 1: Arkangel (c?), Sangre Azteca, Hijo del Pierroth vs Sagrado, Crazy Boy, Satanico (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/02/05

  1. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 3:05
Approx Rating: Crazy Boy HEARTS moves
Other Match Notes: Joined for the last fall. This is Crazy's CMLL debut. Something's off with the sound to start the match - the announcers are really loud, the crowd is muted, and the mat is isolated. It distracts me during the Ark/Sagrado opening. Crazy Boy moonsaults in the ring, because that's who he is. Hijo gives him a wheel kick. Crazy ducks under an inside clothesline for a reverse stunner, and Hijo de Pierroth entertains me by flopping around like a dead fish. Roll thru sunset flip lead to a knee to head. Crazy Boy can't stop doing moves - there's a torture rack into a face crusher. Satanico and Sangre are last. Satanico's bald from a loss around here somewhere, and looks okay here. Back to Sagrado and Ark, who handspring elbows Ark out and follows him out with tope. Hijo de Pierroth and Satanico are in, and Satanico gets him with an abdominal stretch cradle. One two three. (2:39) Sangre boots Satanico out (sorta) and Crazzy takes his place. Crazy tries a crucifix double knee head crusher, and it looks awful. Moonsault to get one more move, in pose for the pin - and Hijo del Pierroth comes back into break it up. (DQ 3:05) Haha, no pin for you! Hijo del Pierroth is going insane, smashing his own head into the buckle. Huh.

Match 2: Dr. X, Neutron, Kronos, Safari vs Volador Jr., Nitro, Leono, Texano Jr. in the Group B Cibernetico in the G1 Junior Tournament
Arena Mexico, 08/05/05

Winner: Texano Jr.
Match Time: 15:41
Approx Rating: Slightly better than last week, but La Mascara was the better winner.
Other Match Notes:
You know, between this week and last week, they sure didn't include many rudos. Volador is looking quite pirate-y this week for some reason. I guess we're getting all the entrances. Safari has anew mask. This is Kronos' debut (as Kronos, at least), the last time Leono would be on for months, and the last time Neutron been on at all. Break after introductions.

And we're getting the battle royal. Not that I probably wanted to see it, but they could've shown the whole first match if they edited out the unnecessary things here. The Pandilla reps have chosen to wear fuchsia today. Bizarre. Dr. X is thrown out first - he's hanging in the ropes when someone dropkicks him to the floor, and he sorta lands head first. That's not good. They check on him for a while. Neutron is next. Safari runs into a Volador armdrags, and so he's done. Texano clotheslines Kronos out - right near where Dr. X is till down, and that completes the team. Dr X. is finally stirring, but he looks a bit hurt. We get a replay of his fall from the ring - yow, right on his head. In the ring, Nitro's tecnico partners are somewhat giving him the business, but I think that's unfair of them. They don't focus on it, but Dr. X is helped to his corner and goes down there too. He wants to keep going, but the Doctor doesn't need to see the replay again to know that he shouldn't. It's lucha, so I presume they'll let him. Break.

After all that, it looks like they clipped out the start of the match. Great. Kronos and Volador Jr. are finishing up their sequence, so we pick up with Nitro vs Dr. X. Nitro doesn't like it, but slaps Dr. X hand five. Dr. X with a waistlock, takedown, front facelock on the mat, Nitro rolls free and on top for zero, Dr X zero leg trip. Both up, Nitro armdrags, and out goes Dr. X. Both happy to be done with that, they leave. Leono and Neutron taking over. Battling for control, Leono ends up with a snap mare, but Neutron reverses things and gets one of his own. Leono waved into the ropes, cartwheeling over, and giving Neutron an armdrags. Zero leg trip, zero leg trip, standoff, that's pretty much the template.

Safari and Texano Jr. Lockup, break. Lockup, Texano with a waistlock, Safari tries for a headlock, Texano gets his back again, takedown, Rolling up Safari's back for a headlock, Safari reverses, and we're into zero leg trips covers. Another stand off, and we look at people in the crowd - who are looking at the camera, not the match. Eh. Kronos and Volador in. Kronos is much bigger than Volador. While he's trying to get a Kronos chant started, Volador tries chopping him down. No dice. Enziguri does work. Headlock, shoot off, back trying to slide under, Kronos catches him in a waistlock and tires to lift him up, Volador back elbows free, Volador off the ropes, under, into a monkey flip.  Kronos nods, and there's a monkey flip. Tilt-a-whirl, Volador escapes out to his feet, Kronos gives him a Rock Bottom anyway. Volador tries rolling out, but Kronos dropkicks him all the way out. Tags, and we're back to the Guerreros again. They're both like "what? how does this keep happening!" Dr. X goes over, under, rolling over, waved by, Dr. X gets a spinning headscissors. Dr. X tries jumping kicks, Nitro slides under, and we have a standoff - and they both leave! Ha! You can't make them fight more than that. Nitro and Leono again, and Neutron gets a quick armdrags. Leono off the ropes, under, into the monkey flip. Neutron follows up differently than Kronos did, being waved by and coming off a springboard for an armdrags. Leono knocks him down with a back elbow, then picks him up for a while, reversed, Neutron misses the clothesline and Leono lands the twisting headscissors. Neutron goes out, Leono quick to the apron - Asai Moonsault! That was nice. Safari and Texano in, and Texano taking control with some strikes. Whip, Safari gets his own hiptoss when Texano was thinking the same thing, and lands a wheel kick too. Corner whip, Volador's knocked off the corner in the process, Safari charges, Texano moves - and Safari goes thru the ropes to kill Volador with a tope! That was neat. Texano's like "now what do I do?" Is he setting up for a dive? Yes, running slingshot tope con giro! Kronos and Nitro in, and Kronos gets a powerslam one NO. Kronos off the ropes, somersault senton misses, and Nitro dropkicks him in the head. Kronos doesn't know what time it is and Nitro picks him up - airplane spin! Kneeling figure four? I have no idea what that is, but it's enough! (5:14)

Dr. X is theoretically in to take Kronos' place, but instead he celebrates his usual partner's win with a high five and a Guerreros huddle dance. And then he dropkicks Nitro in the back! Always fun. Leono is already is going up - top rope headscissors sends Dr. X out. Leono off the ropes, but Neutron scoops him up for a fireman's carry. Neutron going up - but Leono dropkicks him out! Leono running for a dive again, but Safari's in - so Leono goes over, and comes back off the ropes rather than diving, getting a spinning headscissors on him (which could've been better.) Leono stomps him a few times, and then is off the ropes - and into a dropkick to the knee. Leono sells it like it's the end of his knee, and Safari angrily stomps him down. Safari off the ropes, Leono up and moving, ducking a clothesline, catching Safari and spinebustering him down. Leono looks to pick him up, but Safari pulls him into a grounded headscissors roll one two three. (6:29) Leono is bleeding from the right cheek here, and who knows how that happened.

Nitro and Texano have picked it up, Dr. X missing a dropkick and Texano chopping him a bunch. Corner whip, reversed, Dr. X charges in to a back elbow, and Texano sorta lands a second rope missile dropkick. He really should be using clotheslines. Dr. X is sent out, and Texano explodes thru the ropes for a tope. Dr. X bangs his elbow on a chair on the way down, and now he's holding THAT. Not a fun match for Dr. X so far. Volador and Neutron pick it up in the ring, and when Neutron is happy to do forward rolls and show off, Volador dropkicks him. Chops by Volador. Corner whip, Neutron with his run up the corner reverse tope one two NO! Oh no, that's a bad sign for Jimmy Neutron. Chest slap exchange, and then Neutron hits Volador questionably low. Magadan assures us that's a clean shot. Corner whip, Neutron gets backdropped to the apron but fights back From there. Volador stops him with a chest slap - ah, it's time for the one man flipping Rock Bottom. That'll do. (7:56

Safari in, Volador ducks a clothesline and drops him with a up and over faceslam. Neutron sells it big, and we look at the kids - just back in time to see a swinging backbreaker. Volador is tentatively climbing the ropes, and it's going to cost him - moonsault meets boots. Safari pulls Volador in position and heads up - but Dr. X beats him, landing a top ropes splash first! One two three. (8:51) We're down to Texano and Nitro vs Safari and Dr. X.

Safari's is not a happy man, and he and Dr. X shove. Also not a happy man is Nitro, who kicks Dr. X in the back, sending him out. Nitro gets dropkicked out in turn by Safari, who sets up for a dive and sends Nitro into a front row fan with a tope. Back inside, Dr. X sidesteps a Texano wheel kick and gives him a few slaps. Corner whip, reverses, Dr. X sends Texano to the apron with a backdrop. Dr. X stares at the ref a while, and then is knocked back by Texano. Texano goes up, plancha is sidestepped by Dr X., Texano hits the mat, and looks up only to get a dropkick to the head. Somehow, Dr. X lets Texano corner whip him, Dr. X does kip up and out, so maybe that was his plan. He dropkicks Texano into the corner, and then pulls him out for an Eye of the Dr. X. One two NO. Both up and both really tired. Texano tries to run the ropes, but Dr. X grabs him by his hair and pulls him into a spinning neckbreaker - one two NO. Dr. X is a bit frustrated. Corner whip, reverses, Texano is sent to the apron yet again, Dr. X is slow to pick up on it again, and Texano forearms him away. Texano climbs up, but waits there, with one knee on the buckle. Dr. X rushes over, strikes him, and tries to lift him off for a valaguesa, but Texano pushes him away. Texano comes off the top, Dr. X moves, so Texano just jumps down to his feet. Dr. X's clothesline is turned into a pumphandle slam one two three. (11:30)

We miss Safari knocking down Texano while looking at the crowd. Safari gets caught in a fujiwara armbar soon after, but he won't give and survives it or a while. He's turning his body for quite a bit, and manages to get his finger tips on the ropes. Texano tries the pumphandle again, but Safari slips behind and pushes him in the corner. Forearm to the back, waistlock. Texano elbows him away and tries a springboard twisting senton, but Safari moves. Safari covers him, one two no. Safari lifts him for something that looks like a Tombstone, but actually turns out to be a shoulderbreaker. Safari climbs up, but Texano meets and fights him there. While they're battling, Nitro enters the ring and slips between Texano's legs to powerbomb him down and superplex Safari in the process. Nitro covers Safari, and Texano crawls on top as well - one two three. (13:25

Hmm, for once we're left with two guys on the same team left, and the referee explains that they must immediately go on. Texano is either slow picking this up or distracted by the Texano chant - because Nitro is able to inside cradle him easily. One tow no. Open hand slaps by Nitro. Whip, sunset thru to a Nitro dropkick. Nitro take a moment to add the Guerreros taunt, and then slams Nitro. Nitro going up - but too slow, and Texano dropkicks him out. Now, as Texano's going for a dive, they feel the need to replay to last week's finish - there's Texano doing a running slingshot tope con giro at the same time. Both are slow in, Nitro ducks a clothesline, Texano catches his neck, and gives him a pump handle backbreaker, one two no. Nitro walks Texano to the ropes, whip, clothesline. Nitro picks him back up, whip, reversed, Nitro tries a 'rana (but can't get up for it,), Texano reverses to a powerbomb one two three. (15:41) Texano is pumped. Nitro is despondent. Replays and break.

Stellar Moments
Dive:
Leono running slingshot tope con giro onto Ramstein.
Sensational: Dark Angel's plancha on Amapola
Triumph: La Mascara beats Sangre Azteca to win Block A of G1
Tecnico: Mistico's big springboard armdrags to Olimpico on the outside
Castigo: La Mistica on Olimpico (mislabeled Olimpico)

Ad for Hector Garza vs Pierroth, hair vs hair.

Vignette: GdI talks in the park. They talk about the Casas brothers, but the highlight is Olimpico doing his Groon impression. Break.

Match 3: Ultimo Guerrero (c), Rey Bucanero, Olimpico vs Negro Casas (c), Heavy Metal, Felino
Arena Mexico, 08/05/05

  1. Casas
  2. GdI
  3. Casas

Winner: Casas (2-1)
Match Time: 11:11
Approx Rating: 85. Last fall seemed rushed, but I can not turn my back on a match which didn't feature a beatdown in 2005 CMLL. This thing just doesn't happen all that much.
Other Match Notes:
Felino is wearing Kid Tiger tights here - that's his son, who wrestles in IWRG. Guerreros get slightly separate entrances. They promote the 08/07 Torreon show during the first fall.

First fall is all on the mat, with pairs of Olimpico/Felino, Ultimo/Heavy (by far getting the most time) and Negro/Rey. Negro gets trapped in a hold, Olimpico comes into break it up, and that's the end of the fall for them. Metal gets Ultimo with a 'rana and they count it too, but the falls kinda over. (Explanation I just figured - each ref was counting a pin/submission, but didn't know for sure the other pin/submission happened, so they had to keep counting just to be sure.) Break.

Second fall features an amazingly contrived spot for Felino to dropkick Ultimo's butt, sending him head first into bottom turnbuckle. They keep the wrestling relatively tecnico, with sequences of Felino/Ultimo, Rey/Metal, and Olimpico/Negro, which turns into Olimpico versus the world when he gets close to the Casas corner and everyone gets involved. Felino ends up getting him with a double jump tope con giro, Rey takes a backdrop to the floor (the had way - no rope grab) and Metal gets him with a backdrop pescado. Negro and Ultimo are left in the ring, Negro tries another Majistral, and Ultimo slips out and pins him with his feet on the ropes. Replays and no break.

At the beginning of the third fall, the announcers mention Loco Max. Victor's recap says they're talking Loco being out, injured. (Which would explain last week's absence.) Magadan also brings up Tigre Metalico's injury. Fall starts with a Ultimo/Negro brawl, ending up on the apron, and with Negro doing a ringpost Sliced Bread #2 (sorta - he didn't have footing.) Negro gets in his silla while he's at it. The other four end up in, and the tecnicos are sent to the brawl. Olimpico does a springboard plancha on both Metal and Felino, and they all sorta collapse in a heap - it looked like the tecnicos wanted to catch him there to set up the next fall. Ultimo comes in, and helps Rey with the monkey flip tope con giro. That leaves Negro and Ultimo standing, and Negro quickly works in the square dropkick to the face. Ultimo stands up from it and battles back. Sunset flip, reversed, Negro grabs the ropes one two three. Replays.

Vignette: Hijo del Pierroth talks to his father, Pierroth, at the cafe. Pierroth seems confident - there's a shock. Hijo questions his judgment in teaming with Halloween and Damián to take on the PdM - aren't they Perros? Pierroth says they're loyal to him, and sometimes you need dogs to beat dogs. Hijo del Pierroth pledges his loyalty to Pierroth.

Match 4: Pierroth (c), Halloween, Damian 666 vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo (c), Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy
Arena Mexico, 08/05/05

  1. Perro
  2. Perro

Winner: Perro (2-0)
Match Time: 4:20
Approx Rating: All angle
Other Match Notes:
Pierroth comes out first, and alone. FdT come out to their music. They're wearing Pierroth family t-shirts! "Made In Heaven, Puerto Rico (back) Used In Hell, Mexico" Pierroth takes a moment to talk about how great Puerto Rico is, and thanks FdT for teaming up for him. Pierroth hides under the steps. Tarzan Boy appears alone, and spots Pierroth in his hiding place, but decides to go the ring - where FdT attack him. Everyone's getting separate entrances. Unlike Tarzan, Hector is wearing a PdM shirt. He confronts La Nazi on the apron - the better to get him attack from behind by Pierroth. Pierroth goes to the same place to hide, as if Perro didn't just see that from backstage. You near know, he might not have. Pierroth ends up beating him behind with the aluminum foil pipe which always seems to be hanging around for these occasions - I guess it's good since he's doing it before the bell.

Pierroth is beating up Perro and Hector while Halloween is screwing around in the ring. Damian is at least choking Tarzan with a camera code, so he's helping. FdT work over him together - Tarzan gets crotched on the post. Since they're busy with Tarzan, the numbers eventually catch up to Pierroth - but then he blatantly low blows Hector, so it doesn't matter. (2:03) Pierroth's team celebrates like they won the fall - Pierroth did cover him, but they don't know how he did it. Tarzan Boy backs up into the crowd to get away from everyone, and Pierroth talks to the announcers. Replays of the low blow.

Pierroth and Perro start in the ring - well, for a second before Perro rolls out. FdT throw him back in, and Pierroth thanks them. Don't know where everyone else is - UI guess Garza is still down form the low blow and Tarzan is in hiding. Are FdT teasing walking out? It wouldn't be a FdT match if they didn't tease walking out, but here it would make less since than usual. Oh, I see, Tarzan's hiding up  by the ramp. Now FdT are coming while Pierroth is working over Perro in the corner. Hector stops them - and then turns to stare at Pierroth, with FdT as his side. Pierroth sets Perro on the top rope, unaware of the group behind him. Perro tells him to turn around - to see FdT have ripped off their Pierroth shirts to reveal PdM shirts underneath. It was a setup! They all beat the holy heck out of him.

In the ongoing quest to figure out What Exactly Is The Deal With Tarzan Boy (during this stretch), let's note that Tarzan appeared totally out of the loop about this Master Plan. He was standing on the ramp not participating when they all turned on Pierroth, and FdT made a special note to beat up him (not taking it easy) and not Perro and Hector when they were pretending to be with Pierroth. Tarzan's a group player, and forces his way into help kick down Pierroth, who's destroyed in the center of the ring. La Nazi tries screaming, as if it will help. Tarzan seems to ask Halloween and Damian what the first fall was all about during this, and they give him handshake/slap fives. La Nazi runs to the back after they all pin Pierroth. (2:17) El Hijo del Pierroth, looking like a huge geek, runs back out with La Nazi, and gets destroyed. They rip up his shirt and try to do the same with his mask. La Nazi goes to the back again, but I don't know who's she's going to find there that'll want to help. El hijo del Pierroth's mask is destroyed, and he has to cover up his face. Perro and Hector give Pierroth a double suplex and then do their t-shirt removal spot. Pierroth occasionally gets back up, and gets beaten back down again. He gets put over the big blue step for a top rope double stomp from Perro, and then Hector makes sure to get his arms raised where Perro can see it. Hector talks some trash on the mic, and stomps Pierroth some more. Perro talks as well. Tarzan sometimes participates in the beatdown, and sometimes hangs a bit back. Break.

Next Week: Mistico, Perro Aguayo Jr., Atlantis, Hector Garza, Halloween, Dos Caras Jr., Marcela, Dark Angel, Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Sahori, Universo 2000, Lizmark Jr.

Ad for the hair match.

Back to the ring, where Tarzan is walking off while the others are still working over Pierroth and celebrating. Replay of the turn. Lots of dead time at the end, but I guess that happens when the main event ends early!

That's it.
