CMLL Guerreros del Ring - 01/14/06 (#7)

Leobardo (on a bus!) heads to Arena Coilseo while previewing the show. He throws to Adolfo, who's in the bazaar outside the arena, passing the masks, and passing it off to Julio, who's inside Arena Coliseo and talking about the matches.

Ring Girl Isela tells us to keep watching.

Match 1: Black Warrior, La Mascara, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Tigre Metalico, Texano Jr., Virus, Felino
Arena Coliseo, 01/06/06

  1. Maximo second rope butt bump Tigre Metalico (5:58)
  2. Virus half crab/hammerlock Maximo (6:35)
  3. Black Warrior CO Texano (7:58)
  4. Felino powerbomb (8:52)
  5. double pin Volador & Virus (11:20)
  6. La Mascara rocking horse Felino (13:36)

Winner: La Mascara
Match Time: 13:36
Approx Rating: 87. Perfectly acceptable cibernetico. Felino looked good. Warrior did not. Volador actually looked to be teasing a rudo turn as much as Warrior did.
Other Match Notes: Metalico's filling in for Satanico. We get entrances, all to Warrior's music - Warrior slips while hopping up on the entrance, La Mascara has (new to me) white dominated outfit and wears his belt, Maximo has sunglasses and very spiked hair (but no belt), Volador has a new half black half white outfit and Virus is wearing the partial mask.

For the first time in forever, we actually get the battle royal to determine sides. Texano press slams Mascara. Lots of slow work near the ropes, and no particular story. Relatively long time before some goes out for a battle royal, but TIgre Metalico takes a backdrop at (1:32) to joining the B team. Volador and Mascara are actually wearing half and half tights, which is odd. I didn't even know they were a team. Virus is next out at (2:30), and I'm remembering why I don't miss not getting these. There's nothing going on. Maximo gets Volador up and over the top rope, but Volador lands on the apron and comes back in. In the meantime, did Felino go out? I don't see him in the ring at all. Texano runs into a Black Warrior backdrop to send himself out (3:20) Volador and Mascara dump Maximo - but it doesn't matter, because Felino indeed was thrown out when we weren't looking. (2:48ish) Virus lobbies to get Maximo on their team to make it 5-3, but no dice. Maximo makes peace with his team - they'll be friends with him as long as he doesn't grope. Now Warrior and La Mascara are having issues - huh. Hey, these teams are split exactly as the graphic shows us at the start of the match! What an amazing coincidence, but it allows them to save time and show those same graphics now. Break.

Leobrado Talks To The Fans: He's surrounded by kids in masks. Who do they like? Mistico. LA Park. Well, duh. Look at the masks.

Texano Jr. and Maximo to start. Lockup, no, Maximo ducks under, walks away, and is happy. Lockup, Texano throws Maximo down. Circle. Lockup, Maximo with a waistlock, quick reverses by Texano, and Maximo grabs his arm to reverse into a hammerlock, then spins him over into a headlock, then Texano spins out into a hammerlock, but Maximo reaches around and grabs him in a headlock, but Texano spins backwards free, so Maximo gives him a heel trip, but Texano kips up to his feet and trips Maximo up, but Maximo immediately kips up, down, up, , down, up, Texano spins him around before he can armdrag him, and Maximo decides spinning is fun, . Texano chest slap shim down. That took 18 seconds. Texano celebrates, grabs Maximo and, Maximo armdrags him. Zero count over, and Texano escapes with a spinning headscissors. Hand slap of good tecnico fun. Black Warrior doesn't seem to improve - he doesn't even want to tag Maximo when it's his turn. Warrior and Virus. Warrior seems unimpressed. Fans start to boot Warrior, and he urges them on. Virus shoves him, and Warrior flicks swat at him Warrior shove, Virus back up with a leg trip, off the ropes, over, into a back elbow. Warrior does his dance. Whip, reversed, Virus puts his head down, Warrior tries a sunset flip, Virus rolls thru, Warrior rolls backwards to evade the cliché dropkick and lands a dropkick of his own. Warrior does a pulling the rope dance. Corner whip, charge in, Virus moves, Warrior takes a lesser knee bump to the floor. Virus to the apron, diving 'rana to the floor! Mascara and Tigre have taken their place in the ring, and are warming up with chain stuff. They reach zero count trips, and have a standoff. Shake. Volador and Felino. Former trios partners. Lockup, Volador with an armdrag, and immediately into the zero leg trips. Felino attempts to block his, but Volador ends up sweeping the leg. They each try to out speed each other, and get caught going for the same move at the same time a couple of times, and trying to counter moves which aren't thrown as well. Felino does his sweeping pose, and Volador tries an angry kick at him. No shake? Guess not.

Texano and Mascara in, Texano immediately landing a wheel kick. Chop, whip, reversed, reverses again, Texano tries a short tilt-a-whirl but Mascara lands on his feet, off, the ropes, under, waved by, Texano throws Mascara up, and Mascara comes down with a 'rana. Texano is slid to the floor, but immediately realizes Mascara is running for a dive and pops up on the apron to pop Mascara with a forearm. Texano grabs Mascara by the mask and tries to give him a turnbuckle smash, but Mascara uses a foot brake and a jumping enziguri to stop Texano. Mascara crawls out of the ring, then hops to the top rope - top rope plancha on Texano!

Volador and Tigre back in - Volador ducks a clothesline, lands a superkick. Tigre's knocked into Black Warrior on the apron by the impact, and Warrior's unappreciative of it. Corner whip, Tigre headstands up and over the ropes, Volador watches, confused - so am I - but Metalico is actually setting up an apron dive; missile dropkick for Mascara on the floor. Volador takes a look, and decides to meet dive with dive - no hands tope con giro! Warrior watches all of this, and he's going to the apron - somersault body press to Volador! Felino double jump somersault body press on Warrior! Virus and Maximo are the only ones left un-dived, and they're fighting in the ring. Maximo misses a dropkick, Virus does not. Maximo goes out, and Virus starts running for a dive - but Volador trips him up and pulls him out. Volador gets an armbar him, but Virus does the corner post run armdrag to reverse. Maximo's going up - plancha on Virus! That's a dive train spot.

Maximo back in, and Tigre Metalico drops him with a top rope plancha. Both up, Tigre runs into a Torture rack, but escapes with an armdrag. Tigre misses a clothesline, Maximo pauses him with a shoulderblock and an eye poke, double jump butt smash! one two THREE. (5:58)  The crowd - sits there. But it sounded like they liked it.

Virus and Maximo now, Maximo off the ropes, over, over, under a clothesline, swinging 'rana by Maximo. Maximo blocks a clothesline, another one, a kick and taps Virus on the nose. Maximo's happy, and ducking a clothesline, but Virus scoops him in a fireman's carry, drops him, and puts him in the hammerlock/half crab (6:35) ending Maximo.

Volador replaces Virus. Volador off the ropes, over, waved by and handstand flipping for no reason. Virus watches, then easily ducks a clothesline. Volador sunset flip, Virus rolls thru and lands the dropkick this time. Virus with a chop, whip, waved by (Volador was confused), Virus ducks another clothesline, and this time he does the swinging headscissors spot. That looks awkward and the crowd lets them know - Volador TOPE on Virus!

Texano and Warrior in, both trying dropkicks, but only Texano's lands. Chop. Corner whip, reversed, Warrior charges in, Texano ducks out of the way, and Warrior takes the hamstring bump onto his feet. Texano charges, and takes a drop toe hold into the middle turnbuckle. Warrior tries a Stinger Splash on him, but Texano moves. Texano charges, but Warrior backdrops him to the apron, hopefully ending these spots for now. Texano forearms Warrior away form the corner, then jumps off the the top rope with a plancha, only to get dropkicked by Texano. Texano rolls out, which is a mistake, because Warrior's diving for a second time, and this time it has to the bullet tope. Texano is wise enough to stand on the Coliseo ramp, so he stumbles backwards and isn't impaled on a chair or person. (7:58)

Mascara and Felino in. Mascara with a shoulderblock, off the ropes, Felino on top of him with a handspring elbow. Mascara goes out, and Felino waits for him. No, Warrior is coming back in instead.  Felino rolls under Warrior's dropkick, and Warrior begs off from the mat. Felino asks the fans, and pretty much just lets Warrior up. Kick, chest slap, whip, reversed, Felino, gets thrown by an armdrag. Felino has to stand bent over waiting for Warrior's next spot (you can see him nod Warrior to do it already), so it's a good thing he counters Warrior's springboard nothing by powerbombing Warrior down. One two three. (8:52) It's Volador and La Mascara (good thing they match) versus Felino, Texano and Virus.

Virus and Volador take their partner's place. Warrior is slow out, grabbing his neck, and the two in the ring stall a bit. Warrior is laying on the  apron as they exchange chest slaps. Virus off the ropes (almost running into to Warrior), and misses a dropkick on the return. Volador stomps him down. Warrior finally is helped to the floor here. Volador off the ropes, Virus leapfrogs, but also lands on Volador's back and bodyscissors him into a sunset flip one two t-NO. Close. Both up and slapping. Virus stops that with a kick to the leg. Whip, leapfrog, Volador slides under this time, headscissors roll, one two NO. Both slow up. Virus misses a punch, Volador does not miss his climb up enziguri. Volador heading out - ah, springboard moonsault for Virus. Volador with a very relaxed cover and counting along one two Virus has a foot on the ropes! Volador can't believe it. Volador chops Virus, whip, reversed, Virus tilt-a-whirls him into a Tombstone position? Ah, he's just throwing Volador forward into a big faceslam. Virus ties up the legs and grabs Volador's legs - a figure four tapatia! That's crazy. Volador breaks loose an arm and refuses to submit, but Virus regrabs it, and rolls backwards, to pin his shoulders to the mat - one two three. (11:20) Who's shoulders? Both shoulders. Referee counted with both hands. Virus is slow to break the leg lock even after, but doesn't protest.

Felino and Mascara in. They're acting like it's the last two, which makes me think maybe Texano was counted out after the bullet tope? If we don't see him (and I can't spot him outside the ring right now), that's what I'm assuming. Felino and Mascara exchange slaps to the face. Felino with a shoulderblock off the ropes, Mascara hits him with a dropkick - sorta. Kinda scissors him, more. Didn't look right. Felino goes up first, charges Mascara, and tries an up and over sunset flip, but La Mascara powerbombs him down, then steps forward and stands up to pin him. One two Felino has a hand on the rope rather easily. Mascara seems frustrated. Mascara kicks Felino, corner whip, Felino goes to the top rope, and Mascara chest slaps him there. La Mascara makes the mistake of trying a 'rana there; Felino, as always, blocks it and drops him with a second rope powerbomb. Felino did it on a bit of angle, ending them both up right near the ropes; he pulls La Mascara's outside arm in to prevent a reach of the ropes, one two Mascara puts a foot on the ropes. Felino pulls up Mascara by his Mascara. Slam, and going up - if the fans think it's okay. They're uncertain, so he's uncertain. And taking far too long to do such a thing.  Mascara has plenty of time to get up, but for some reason tries to headstand on the top rope. Felino just scoops him over and on to his back for a middle rope crucifix powerbomb, but Mascara reverse it a 'rana. There's the rocking house. (13:36) Texano got screwed! Mascara is not whomever they wanted him to be there. Replay of the finish.

Tarzan, Rey and Ultimo talk about how awesome the Guerreros are. Pretty awesome, as it turns out.

Match 2: Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy (c), Ultimo Guerrero vs Dos Caras Jr. (c), Hijo del Lizmark, Rayo de Jalisco Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 01/08/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:48
Approx Rating: 83. Good for this type of match.
Other Match Notes: Entrances. No pre-match attack. Even though it's GdI, I don't expect much out of this one.

Ultimo shoves Lizmark to get it going, but gets confronted by all three tecnicos. That's not fair. Lots of discussing, not yet any wrestling. Ultimo and Lizmark indeed do start - once Lizmark is done acknowledge his chants. Simple chain wrestling, slower than the cibernetico. Lizmark gets a cross armbreaker but must not get it extended or something, because Ultimo doesn't look to be in any high level of pain. They go thru a few more counters to Lizmark getting the armdrag, doing flips, and doing a Michael Jackson like dance. Switch - Rey flips in to take his place, but slips on the landing and falls down. Obviously the ropes were shaking, Rey couldn't have screwed up. Ultimo and Tarzan hold the ropes still for Rey so he can do it again and stick the landing. Oh no, he drew Rayo. Rey steps back out to think about this. Rey's scared of the matador wave. Punching Rayo in the face stops that for the time being. Chest slaps in the GdA corner - they may be helping illegally. Rayo turns it around for chops of his own, including one to Tarzan and one to Ultimo. We look at the crowd while Rayo gets headlock and is shot off - that must've been bad, because they clip out a bit here to Rayo slapping everyone, and then getting the big fat headlock/hammerlock double move on Rey and Ultimo. Rayo off the ropes, under a clothesline, waved by, keeps on running, keeps on running, now Ultimo and Rey watched confused, Rey times the next pass, slap, no, Rayo turned around and Ultimo got it. Rayo gives Rey a knee to the but, which Rayo doesn't appreciate. Switch - Dos and Tarzan. They're not friends. They compete for crowd reaction. Dos surprisingly wins. Dos off the ropes, over, under, into a Tarzan clothesline. Tarzan is happy with himself. Whip, reversed, Tarzan goes under, and then into a leapfrog. Tarzan runs right into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker - he should stop running. Dos tries a La Majistral, but Tarzan shoves him off in the corner, charges, and misses on a corner splash. Dos runs back at him, and hit his corner climbing enziguri. Tarzan rolls out, and retreats far into the crowd to escape a dive. Dos is out after him, but Tarzan begs off. Dos threatens to punch him out there, but gets talked down. Ultimo and Rayo now, with Rayo doing his normal elusive/slap bits. Rayo whips Ultimo into a Lizmark headbutt, which is new. Ultimo moves out of the way of a slingshot somersault senton by Lizmark, and he and Rayo try to double clothesline Rey as he comes in to help. They miss, but maybe on purpose, because Rey ends up running into Ultimo. Rey turns around, and takes a double backdrop. Ultimo gets chest slapped down, Rey jumps at Rayo and Lizmark and gets tripped down on top of his partner, and Lizmark and Rayo tie them up in a double Boston Crab. Ultimo is actually pinned and not submitted, but same difference. (6:30) Tarzan's too busy running from Dos to help out. Tecnicos take their time letting go. Replays.

Ring Girl Caro tells us to keep watching the show. If she says so! Break.

How long till the beatdown in fall two? I'm saying 80 seconds. Ultimo and Lizmark to start, Lizmark getting a quick one leg takedown, retreating to his corner, and cartwheeling and flipping over Ultimo for no reason. Lizmark stands, happy, which allows Rey to slip behind and put him in a full nelson. Ultimo goes for a punch, Lizmark slips free, and Ultimo stops short, much to Rey's relief. They both turn and chop Lizmark down, but this allows him to spinaroonie up - which the camera completely misses! That's odd. Rey and Ultimo gets run into each other, and Ultimo's the lucky one to take the superkick. Lizmark celebrates, and then superkicks Tarzan Boy for good measure! That doesn't seem nice at all. Lizmark does the crane pose! Odd. Dos in, and Tarzan was going to go in, but he's not sure now. Okay, as long as they can do a pose off. Tarzan poses, Dos poses, and Rey punks out Dos while he poses. 75 seconds! That's close enough to count! Rey clears out the tecnicos on the apron and beats Rayo on the floor while Último holds Dos for Tarzan to kick many times. Rayo gets a weakly shot into the steps, and Rey does the huddle dance with a whole bunch of rudo fans. Ultimo keeps Lizmark from getting in while Tarzan works over Dos some more, and then holds Dos down while Lizmark rips up his mask something fierce. Tarzan is happy to stomp him, and lean him on the ropes for more mask pulling. Lizmark gets back in the ring, but is quickly stopped, and Rey and Ultimo easily double backdrop him. Tarzan boots Dos to the floor, and goes out after him. Ultimo and Rey work over Rayo in the ring. Tarzan joins them, double toe hood, and he's stood up for Tarzan's missile dropkick. Ultimo covers one two three. (3:28) Lizmark back in, double whip for him, double armbar, Rey is helped to put him into a crucifix lift, and Tarzan and Ultimo add the double bulldog. Wacky Boston crab/double armbar submission by Rey and Ultimo, and that's that. (4:02) Tarzan left early to help Dos around ringside - hey, look, there's chair 206. Dos is getting a good look at it. Último does the huddle dance with a bunch of fans. Break.

SANGRE AZTECA! tells us to keep watching. Well okay then.

Third fall with Lizmark having the ringside doctor. I love the unflappable ringside doctors. Lizmark's convulsing in pain as the doctor check it out, and the Doctor pays him no mind. Rayo goes in first, because someone has to. Crowd chants for him as the GdI take turns hitting him in the corner. They push him to the mat so Ultimo can do the headstanding sit, which extra effort on the headstand. Lizmark tries to ambush them while they're revealing in killing Rayo, but he's caught. Triple boot for him. Tarzan taunts Dos into coming in, and Dos rushes into to kill him. Lucky he has friends. Double armbar by the Ultimo and Rey, and Dos is kicked down to his knees. Tarzan slaps him around. Off the ropes, kick to the head. Tarzan soaks in the cants for Dos. Tarzan off the ropes, Dos breaks free and takes him down. Dos goes town with punches, Ultimo tries to help, and Rayo slowly walks over and punches him. Lizmark's working over Rey, and the comeback is on. Rayo goes for Ultimo's mask and Lizmark chokes Rey as Dos and Tarzan battle outside and we don't see all that much. Tarzan takes a snap mare on a ramp and gets kicked in the spine. Rayo's almost gotten Ultimo's mask off twice here, but let's go when he gets a count put on him. Tarzan meets seat. Rayo is very slow when beating Ultimo, and Ultimo feeds himself into a headlock because it's too slow. There's the reverse tope. Rayo covers, the referee takes the long way to cover, Ultimo waves for someone to please breaks this up, one two there's Rey, about item. Lizmark comes into fight him. Rey get a quick edge with a back elbow. Open hand slap. Rayo forces Lizmark into the ropes. Ultimo into help, Lizmark ducks the double clothesline and lands the double dropkick. Rey goes out, then comes back in because Rayo has to do a double clothesline to knock them both out. Lizmark tope knocks down the pile. Rayo climbs to the top, big fat plancha on all. We're down to Dos and Tarzan, and Tarzan is besides himself about it. Dos is so pumped, he goes to the corner to tell the crowd how pumped he is. Tarzan misses a clothesline, Dos ducks under, kick to the midsection. Calling for the press, there it is, dropped down into this waistlock, and Tarzan kill him with a low blow mule kick. Tarzan points to his head and covers one two three. (5:16) Point to head! Tarzan makes sure Dos knows he's smarter, and then backs off when Lizmark intercedes. Rayo wants to get more Rey, but the fans hold Rey back (well, they do till security tells him them not to, and then Rayo just knocks Rey back to them anyway.) Replay. Dos' facial expression and head movements are hilarious.

Leobrado talks to the winners: Los Guerreros seem to win all of these. Tarzan doesn't know what we're talking about - that was totally clean. Ultimo says they're taking it to a new level in 2006. Rey says the Guerreros are the best, and pulls in an old lady! The rudo fans love Rey. From the far camera, we can see Tarzan and I think Lizmark fight more, but we instead end with one more replay of the kick.

That's it.
