CMLL 12/15 Lineup

CMLL’s announced the lineup for it’s last major show of the year, on 12/15.

CMLL (FRI) 12/15 Arena Mexico Lineup
1) Super Nova, Flash vs Super Comando, Artillero
2) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Hiroka, Princesa Sujei, Amapola
3) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucnaero, Dos Caras Jr. vs LA Park, Olimpico, Eclipse
4) Mistico, Volador Jr., Ultimo Dragon vs Averno, Mephisto, Efesto
5) Shocker, Universo 2000 vs Marco Corleone, Kenzo Suzuki [hair]

Main’s listed as a double hair match, so Marco and Kenzo are surely going down.

I have no idea who Efesto is supposed to be. I presume a typo, but that’s not close to anything – so a new Assassin? Mistico wouldn’t have been able to work if the show as 12/01, and now he’s in the semi-main. Had to be a factor in the rescheduling.

I’d assume it’s still on PPV. Tickets go on sale next week.

CMLL’s all announced the winners of it’s bodybuilding contest, which took place 11/29. There were 40 participants, and the winners were:

Mini: Pequeno Damian
Women: Dark Angel
Newer: Super Nova
Intermediate: Mictlan
Advanced: Olimpico

All those fruits and vegetables paid off! Mictlan still has yet to actually wrestle in a match (though, if he’s being listed in the intermediate category, he probably has been around a while and wrestled as someone else – the Soberano idea seems to make as much since as anything, since he’s vanished.)

  1. Unless they add smething like Los Guerreros V PdM for instance, I’d be pretty amazed if that 12/15 show is PPV.

Flash and Super Nova have only recently been brought up to Coliseo opener level, and haven’t even had an Arena Mex match (to the best of my knowledge), never mind one on PPV. Also, only 5 matches and far too many big names missing for a PPV.

And besides – Volador, Ultimo Dragon and a newcomer in a PPV semi is just not going to happen. Even Averno and Mephisto in there is pushing it.

  2. What a wacky card.:/ It will be strong from a workrate standpoint though. I’m not too against it b/c it’s a bunch of fresh matchups and not the usual boring shit aside from Ultimo Dragon being booked. Mini’s would have been nice but oh well. Flash and Nova will impress and the rudos will just bump all over for them. Women… bleh. The new guy better be a typo for ULTIMO GUERRERO.

  3. It’s a good card. Not a blow-away card but on paper it looks better quality-wise than the last PPV (if this IS a PPV).

Wouldn’t mind seeing it on PPV, but I wouldn’t shed tears if it ended up just being the top 2 matches on TV either.

  4. 2006 Year In Review: November

the big story: the best known man to wear the Huracan Ramirez mask, Daniel Garcia, passed away on 11/01. He was 54. There were a lot of obits covering Garcia’s life, and explaining the legal issues which led to him…

  5. 2006 Year In Review: December

the Big Story: Both promotions held major shows to close the end of the year. AAA’s Guerra de Titanes show certainly trumped CMLL’s year end card for meaningful storyline conclusion. The company spent the last quarter of the year building…
