Congress Theatre Lucha 09/19

So. There’s a lucha show at Congress Theatre this weekend.

If you can’t read that, it’s Santo & Mistico vs Averno & Mephsito, and then other matches which don’t matter.

Congress Theatre’s address is 2135 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647. Tickets are $10 for kids, $15 for General Admission, and $20 for Ringside; I’ve got no idea what the turnout will be (this is the first time Santo or Mistico have been in and they’ve charged for GA tickets, I think), and I’d don’t know what GA will turn out to mean this time, but I’d pay the extra $5 to be at ringside.

“5:00 PM” is listed (though not on the poster) – I think that’s gonna be Doors Open time. But that’s just a guess.

It sounds like the same basic crew will be in LA on Saturday – check FMLL.net for that info – and Santo’s is in Las Vegas on Friday for with a lot of So Cal types and LA Park. But I’m not going to anyone of those shows.

Is any one else planning to go this show? I’m going to be there; just trying to figure out when and how.

  1. I’ll be there. I might need you CUBSFAN~! to help me interview some of the luchadors in the main event…

  2. I don’t think they’ll be letting anyone near any of the luchadores if what happened at the last show is any indication.

  3. what happened last time torgaman?

I’ve talked to the guys in charge, it should be cool.

Can you translate for me again?

  4. Hello guys,
long time lurker first time poster,
I’ll be there for sure! What’s up Torgaman,
    see ya there, remeber me?

  5. Kuzeh, just when am I supposed to remember you from?If we met at a lucha show please refresh my memory.

And there is a scheduled Santo/Canek interview over Mexico City Radio on the 24th of September at 11am.Now if this show is PRE-RECORDED no problem. If it’s LIVE then there is a MAJOR PROBLEM.I am hoping this show is in the “Can” as they say and will not conflict with Santo being at the Congress tomorrow. However if anything in lucha’s history has shown us is that promoters tend to book guys they can’t get,and then blame the no-shows on the wrestler. Now maybe I am worrying about nothing but Rocky has had a history of booking conflicts, card changes, etc.I just hope he delivers on what he promises because there could be problems if he doesn’t.Announce Blue Demon Jr and he doesn’t show up people will bitch a little.Announce Hijo del Santo and he doesn’t show up….well folding chairs are the preffered weapons of rioting wrestling fans.

  6. And what happened last time is that there was new security and even people working for Mr Frank Arenas were locked out of the locker rooms.

  7. Regarding Hijo del Santo’s radio show I am being told two things:

That the show is live, but that he will fly immediately to Chicago afterwards.Considering the time it takes to get through boarding procedures in Mexico, the time of flight, and then all the customs ringamorole and secuirty at O’haire one wonders if he’ll make the match in time.

Others tell me that the show is in the “can” and he’ll be at the show on time.Anyone know if he showed up at L.A. last night?
