Match 1: Apolo Dantes,
Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000 (c) vs Ultimo Dragon, Sagrado, Mr. Niebla (c)
Arena Coliseo, 12/23/05
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 17:46
Approx Rating: By the numbers, but certainly had a time to get everything
they wanted in.
Other Match Notes: They keeping playing the Capos music until Apolo
comes out. What a random tecnico trio. Niebla is wearing the Storm Trooper
helmet. Ultimo Dragon has a bizarre Eagles (Philadelphia? doesn't quite look it)
mascot with him, giant head and all. Sagrado just has a Sagrado T-Shirt. Well,
they all have valets too.
Niebla and Mascara start off. B-Team announce crew. The horn is working over time to get a chant started, but it's not coming thru well. Chain wrestling, you've seen it, I'm too lazy to call it right now. Mascara Año's having a good hair day - his blond hair looks about 10% less horrible than usual. The second part of the sequence, more on the mat, doesn't look especially good - I can't tell if they're slightly screwing things or I'm just not following it. Niebla gets his headscissors and we move on. Apolo and florescent green Ultimo Dragon. Apolo's wearing green too - that's why they're fighting, I'm sure. Mat wrestling, and fine acceptable stuff, I guess. Ultimo blocks a drop toe hold (because it catches him by surprise), and that's a hard bit to do realistically. Apolo appears to roll himself into being pinned at one point. I think he's doing more of the work, but what do I know. Apolo ends up getting Ultimo on his shoulders, and gives him an FU rather than a DVD, and doesn't try for a pin - going for a bodyscissors sleeper instead, oddly. Ultimo reveres into a grounded crucifix rollup for about zero, and they decide to switch again. Sagrado versus Universo, huh. Sagrado tires to pick up the speed a little bit, but Universo evades him, and then gets freaked out/annoyed by his flipping. Universo manages to block everything but the armdrags, but Sagrado manages to do plenty of them. Sagrado starts to get chest slaps, and the rudos decide to storm the ring. Tecnicos are dealt with quick, Ultimo taking a bump to the floor. Capos work over Sagrado. Sagrado gets whipped into a Universo spear, and it's very much the same problems I have seeing Stunners in lucha - it's indy-rific in comparison to the WWE version because the victim isn't taking the same bump. Apolo and Mascara hold Sagrado up so Mascara can do the big sit on him, and that's the end of Sagrado (7:22) Niebla in - wonder why they just didn't make Ultimo the captain, and the highlight of the work on him is Magadan explaining what VIP means in English. Reyes brothers hold up Niebla, and Apolo lands the missile dropkick. That's the fall. (7:55) That fall was about 30 seconds away from being longer than any match on the first show. It was a long fall. Replays.
Interview: Mistico talks to Adolfo about the match vs Atlantis later. He's in the aisle, and they've got security close to prevent a mob scene.
Roxana wishes us a merry Christmas and happy new year and we should keep watching.
Second fall continues the beatdown. Apolo gives Ultimo a big backdrop, and the other two give him a big gutbuster. Apolo dropkicks him out. Sagrado in and worked over. Strange set up for an Alabama Slam, and Sagrado is then tossed onto the top rope before being knocked out. Niebla in, and I bet it'll turn right there. Mostly because there's that pause. Double whip, and I'm wrong - Niebla eventually takes a drop toe hold into Universo's boots. Capos take turn slapping Niebla on the back. Universo gets in a lout one and celebrates. Niebla gests whipped again, but his partners grab him, Niebla sidesteps the double team move and gives the big slap to Apolo. Comeback is on, Sagrado getting Mascara, Niebla on Apolo, and Ultimo on Universo, though he quickly switches with Niebla. Niebla gets his hard slap in the back revenge. Apolo takes a double clothesline to the outside, and the tecnicos hold the ring. Mascara comes in, takes a Sagrado tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, a Ultimo heel kick and Niebla slap to the back. Universo comes in, and manages to get in a couple shots before Niebla ands the handspring elbow. Sagrado sorta hits an enziguri, and Ultimo picks up the pin with an Asai DDT. (3:40) There's like two people booing, I think. Replays.
Interview: Atlantis talks to Leobardo about how he's going to beat Mistico later.
Third fall starts with Ultimo and Apolo in the ring. Apolo wants a handshake, but Ultimo wants to consult the crowd. Apolo goes down on his knees begging for one, but Ultimo's gotta think this over a bit more. Apolo's assuring him he on the level, but Ultimo thanks he may be setting him up. Apolo finally gives up on it, and just chest slaps Ultimo a few times. Apolo slaps Ultimo's face, he's so angry about not getting that handshake. Corner whip, clothesline. Kick, Corner whip, Ultimo kips up and out, and drop toe holds Apolo as he turns. Ultimo runs over Apolo's back on the way to the other corner for a WOW plancha. Apolo stops this for a moment with a kick. Chop, forearm to the back. Whip, Ultimo rolls under the clothesline and pops up with a spinning headscissors. Apolo starts to go out and stays in, chest slap to Ultimo, off the ropes, Ultimo backdrops him to the floor. Ultimo running, stopping, confused - guess Apolo bailed, but we never saw it. Sagrado and Universo, and they're far too pumped about facing each other. Sagrado does some flips, and Universo back elbows him down. Universo works him over in the corner, but a corner whip goes bad. Crowd shot in the middle of this, and the fans seem a little upset when we come back. Ultimo gets some chest slaps and chops, and eventually a headscissors to send Universo out. Universo ducks down, so Sagrado slaps him in the back. Universo's back hurts, so Mascara rubs it and has tome fans help. Mascara in, versus Niebla. Standard Niebla sequence - he does the dance, he gets the handspring elbow in again. He sends Mascara out, Apolo and Universo try a double clothesline, Niebla ducks, and they're dropkicked out by Ultimo and Sagrado. Tecnicos setting up - TRIPLE TOPE! Everyone's down, and Mascara is halfway up the aisle. Replay shows no one died, which is good. Captains make it back in first, and Niebla's pumped about it. Universo shoulderblock him, off the ropes, Niebla tries jumping back elbow and fails. Universo with a corner whip, Niebla runs up to the middle rope and dances, Universo charges in (waiting for Niebla to get done first), and they have a chest slap battle while Universo's standing on the middle rope. Niebla decides just to pull them both them off the rope, with Universo going to the floor and Niebla briefly landing on the apron before Apolo dropkicked him off. Sagrado comes in with a springboard Silla on Apolo, one two NO. Dropkick, 'rana, no Apolo powerbomb one two Ultimo breaks it up. Ultimo waiting for Apolo to get up, off the ropes, flipping out of backdrop, ducking a clothesline, kick, Mascara breaks it up before he can do the DDT. Mascara with a whip and a flapjack. Elbow drop, one two no. Ultimo gets in a kick catch enziguri, and then three kick combo, but Mascara won't go down. KickwhamAsai - no, Apolo slips behind Mascara and catches Ultimo on his shoulder. Shoulder powerslam, and Universo is suddenly on the top rope - top rope splash, one two three. (5:53) Well forget what I said about Ultimo not taking a pin. Of course, we need one more and no one cares - wait, no, Apolo remembers, the director just doesn't. I think that was a Falcon Arrow on Sagrado, but whatever it was, it was Good Enough. (6:11) Here's a HINT to whoever's directing these things: stick with the action until the referee raises someone's arm. It's pretty easy.
Leobardo talks to Universo, though Niebla threatens to interrupt. The Capos decide they're greatest trio off all.
Isela and Caro remind us of the Atlantis/Mistico match to come.
Match 2: Atlantis vs Mistico
Arena Coliseo, 12/25/05
Winner: Mistico (2-1)
Match Time: 12:28
Approx Rating: 88. Good but not as great as the Perro and Ultimo matches.
Other Match Notes: Atlantis is out to the GdA music. He hugging and
kissing the kids on the way to the ring. Ke Monito is out with Mistico. Mistico
wisely gets ready outside the ring, though I think Atlantis kicks him as he
comes in - we don't really get a good shot of it.
Atlantis tries it again as Mistico gets to the apron, but Mistico sidesteps him, and clotheslines him. Mistico tire to come in with a springboard dropkick, but Atlantis steps out of the way and kicks him when he's down. Atlantis wastes no time in ripping up Mistico's mask - he's blond this week. Head into the turnbuckle. Mistico tries to fire up, but it doesn't help much when you're being slammed. Atlantis going up? No, just kicking Mistico in the hamstrings. Mistico pulled out to the apron, and his head is smashed into the side of the ring. Atlantis takes Mistico to the floor, and shows him seat 254 up close. Here's a ring post! Here's the sole of Atlantis' boot! Atlantis throws Mistico in, and Mistico's is trying to draw from the crowd, much to Atlantis annoyance. Chant's started. Whip, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and Atlantis loves it. Clothesline. Elbow drop, elbow drop, elbow drop. What now? Half crab, and Mistico gives up quick (2:10) though Atlantis doesn't let go quick. He and the ref get in an argument and he gets warned about the fall being overturned, but it's all good.
Between falls is clipped down to about five seconds. Mistico is still down, and Atlantis is still celebrating Mistico being down. Mistico is put in the Tree of Woe, and Atlantis slaps him in the face before kicking him in the chest. Fans getting on Atlantis, which annoys him - so does the ref trying to free Mistico. Kicks and knees. Mistico chant starting again, including by someone close to the microphone. Atlantis pulls Mistico down to better chest slaps and punch him. Knee to the head. Corner whip, corner splash but Mistico ain't home. Drop toe hold, there's the 619. Twisting 'rana, sends Atlantis on to the opposite ropes, so why not another 619? Mistico goes for Atlantis' mask, but Atlantis slips away - only to be kicked in the butt. There's the big mask rip - half of Atlantis' face is expose in the process, and Mistico going for the other half. Now he's dragging Atlantis around by his face. WE look at the crowd, and the ringside doc looks quite bored. Atlantis going out, and Mistico is after him, knocking down on the floor with a chest slap, and later getting a superkick. Atlantis into the post. Atlantis begs the fans to stop cheering for Mistico, but it's not working. Mistico brings it back inside. Chest slap. Whip, Mistico back with La Mistica, and that's that. (3:33) All tied up. What do they have for the last fall? Ke Monito's after Atlantis; Mistico pulls him off and warns him not to get him DQed, but Monito pounds Atlantis some more, and then superkicks Atlantis to prevent him from getting involved. Mistico and the referee talk to Monito about his anger control problems. BREAK.
Atlantis is looking for that timeout when we return. I don't think he's going to get it this week either. No opening whistle? Monito does the twenty count, and Atlantis is going to take 18 of the 20 - actually, he's not, because the referee gets' distracted and loses count. Mistico goes out after Atlantis, Atlantis comes in, Mistico comes in, Atlantis is out of ideas. Okay, so they'll fight, and Atlantis will knocks down Mistico repeated with open hand chest slaps. Atlantis takes time to kindly ask fans to quiet down and stop cheering for Mistico - he's talking seat to seat. When it doesn't work, Atlantis is oh so frustrated. Mistico back up, and now Atlantis chest slaps have no effect. Mistico gets in the superkick again, off the ropes, and flipping for no reason. Twisting headscissors, Mexican armdrag, and out goes Atlantis. Atlantis ducks down, so Mistico detours to the top rope and nails him with a plancha! Both men down on the outside as we take a look at replays from multiple angles. Mistico back on the apron and setting up for an Asai dive, but Atlantis yanks him off by the ankles and Mistico hits his head on the apron - that's no good. Atlantis throws him back first into the ring apron. Set up on the apron, and Mistico smashes him head first into the side of the ring, and repeats with the elbow drops again on the outside of the ring. Posing pin, which would be good if there were in the ring. After the ref warns him, that's where Atlantis goes. Mistico is just stirring as the referee returns to the ring. He's hurt, but he should make it. Crowd makes sure of it with another Mistico chant. Atlantis meets Mistico with a punch, and covers one two NO. Powerbomb? Yes. , feet on the middle rope one two NO. I think the ref caught that, and Atlantis is angry at ref Tiger Hispano for his trademark slow count. Mistico chant again. Corner whip, reversed, Mistico gets backdropped to the apron, Atlantis celebrates because he thought Mistico went to the floor. Atlantis turns, and takes a springboard dropkick. "rana one two NO! I hate dramatic slow counts. Atlantis complains to the referee about something, and Mistico surprises him with a dropkick to the knee - la Majistral, one two NO. Atlantis keeps surviving - how about a bodyscissors rollup one two NO. Crowd trying the Mistico chant again. Atlantis misses a clothesline, Mistico lands a springboard plancha one two thr-NO. That was a late kickout. Mistico trying to draw from the crowd again. Atlantis charges, and Mistico gives him a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Mistico's calling for something spiny. Mistico runs, and he does spin - into a Atlántida! Atlantis is spinning him, and Tigre Hispano immediately gets clipped by Mistico's legs. Ke Monito runs over - low blow uppercut on Atlantis! Mistico inside cradles Atlantis! One two three! (6:45) Magadan is aghast. Monito and Mistico hug a bunch. Atlantis can't believe he was robbed like that. Replays. Epic positioning by Hispano on the ref bump - he couldn't help but get kicked.
That's the show.
