CMLL Mini Line - 10/08/05 (#191)
Recapped: 07/20-27/06

Backstory: I missed this the first time, caught it on the Vuelta, moved it off my TiVo onto my computer when it got full, forget about from there, and haven't been able to get it back on my TiVo yet. I guess I could so something crazy like watch it on my computer.

Welcome To The Show Vignette: Groon. Well, not here, but they air a vignette for him changing masks and coming. in.

Match 1: Arkangel (c), Veneno, Flecha vs Maximo, Alan Stone (c), Chris Stone
Arena Coliseo, 05/03/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:46
Approx Rating: Ordinary.
Other Match Notes: Sangre Azteca is listed instead of Flecha, but he's not here. No entrances, and they might have clipped the first fall.

1: Opening exchanges Alan/Veneno, Maximo/Arkangel, Chris/Flecha (Flecha looks like he stole a Super Calo outfit here - perhaps that's why they're fighting!) Flecha gets a brief advantage on Chris, so the tecnicos help out - Alan with a headscissors to send him out, Maximo to meet him there with a tope. Veneno gets dropped off screen, and Alan kinda sorta gets Arkangel on a moonsault bodyblock (not good) 659 and Chris connects on a missile shoulderblock to take care of Veneno

2: in progress when we return from a break. Maximo and Ark start again, with Maximo getting in his but bumps, and Ark taking the safe way to floor. Onto Flecha and Alan, which ends with Flecha taking a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on the floor. Chris and Veneno, Veneno fired up and serious and still putting his head down too soon. Roll thru sunset flip spot, CHECK. Back to Maximo and Ark - time for the beatdown? Ark keeps is on the level, getting the edge and taking in Flecha to take over. Flecha clotheslines Maximo, taunts the tecnicos, and tags in Veneno, who works on Maximo's arm. Suplex,, hold for an Arkangel slingshot - stomp, huh. Guess that wasn't the idea. Ark lets Maximo tag in Alan, and then beats up Alan - that's an idea. Veneno comes into help out, and the rudos finally get around to the beatdown. Missile dropkick for Alan, and Ark puts on a weird submission. Flecha posts on a submission that's not La Flechaera, but equally tough. Arkangel gets some post fall revenge to have done it.

3: Rudos still in control to start this fall. Alan tries to out strike Flecha for a comeback, but Veneno takes him down. Arkangel has a nice jumping knee. Maximo sells a pumphandle like a blow blow - maybe that's what was meant? I dunno. Corner charge on him goes bad, and there's the comeback. Not much of a beatdown to get worked up about. Comeback leads into a Maximo and Veneno chop exchange. Veneno whip, head down too soon yet aging, Maximo cradles him for a clean 3. Ark powerbombs (or drops) Maximo and adds a running senton to take out him. Chris in, and dropkicking Ark out to set up a tope con giro, landing on his feet in the end. Alan hits Flecha with a bad springboard wheel kick, Flecha immediately reverses a whip but misses the charge. Alan charges, Flecha attempts to lift him to the top rope, but that doesn't work. Alan aborts, Northern Lights suplexes Flecha, and chains it into a German suplex one two three win.

Match 2: Black Tiger III (c), Taguchi, Okumura vs Atlantis (c), Satánico, Black Warrior
Arena Mexico, 05/06/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:16
Approx Rating: Okay.
Other Match Notes:
No entrances. Okumura is listed as "Okumura Jr." I don't want to know.

1: Taguchi and Warrior start with a minute long bit of dueling poses, and then wrestle for about 3 seconds before all six guys hit the ring. It settles down for a bit, they wrestle ten seconds more, and then the ring floods again. The four extras fool around with each other on the outside, which allows Warrior and Taguchi actually to wrestle. Next sequence is Tiger/Satánico who have a great slap exchange to start. Satánico teases the senton to the floor, but gets knocked off the apron by Okumura. Atlantis comes in and armdrags him all over the place before dropkicking hi out. Taguchi gets the advantage on Atlantis with elbow smashes to the head, but Atlantis clotheslines him and racks him around the post with some help from Warrior. Satánico quickly finishes Black Tiger. Atlantis slams Okumura on the ramp for fun.

2: This goes five seconds before the rudo team is all attacking Atlantis, though he manages to rally back from that with some clothesline avoidance at the right time (plus Tiger standing on the outside.) Taguchi makes Atlantis's tuff look good. Warrior deals with Black Tiger, outsmarts Taguchi, and kicks Okumura before doing his pose. Tiger slams Satánico and lands the triple moonsault for a clean pin! The rudos and the refs are aware Atlantis is the captain, but too many others, it seems. Atlantis gets rammed sternum first into the bottom turnbuckle - it works, just not looking what you might expect, and Taguchi puts on a sharpshooter for the win. Rudos continue the beatdown thru replays, and we see Ke Monito hiding to avoid being caught up in it.

3: 3 on 1s underway - except the try for a triple something on Black Warrior goes horribly awry, to the point where I couldn't tell you what they wanted. They now want Warrior to roll out of there, and he does. Black Tiger sneaks in a low blow on Satánico (or at least Satánico thinks so), but the refs miss it. Atlantis in, and despite asking for a one on one, he's not getting it. He sneaks in a monkey flip on Warrior, and starts the comeback about 1:20 into the fall. Satánico nearly gets Taguchi with a grounded crucifix, but he's in the ropes and grabs the ropes. Satánico simply does the same roll up again, a bit farther from the ropes, and gets a three count - but Taguchi's boot is touching the ropes this time. No one makes a clear indication that this is not actually a three count, so it's quite confusing when Taguchi pops back in the match - after a Tiger/Warrior typical exchange and a very short Okumura/Atlantis bit - and starts attacking Satánico as he would if he were still legally in the match. Which I guess means he is legally in this match. Taguchi holds Satánico for Tiger to hit, Tiger thinks about, and that's enough time to get Satánico to move.  Taguchi takes the dropkick and goes out, Black Tiger gets Satánico with a wheel kick, Warrior gets Tiger with a float around DDT, Okumura gets Warrior with a missile dropkick - oh, no he, doesn't, he moved. And that's it for team Japan; Satánico locks on a seated hammerlock on Okumura, and Atlantis gets Atlántida on Taguchi. Warrior keeps Tiger off the apron, and the tecs win.

Coming Soon: Gronda - you were warned!

Stellar Moments
Lance:
Messala with a top rope splash for Molotov.
Tecnico: Maximo tope connects with Loco Max just enough. Kinda was wide, though.
Castigo: Alan Stone missile dropkicks Nitro right in the side of his head.
Vuelo: Lizmark Plancha to the floor on Último Guerrero.
Rudo: Mistico  gives the 619 to Mephisto, and Asai Moonsaults right into Mephisto's boots

Vignette: Último talks to Averno and Mephisto about the next match. They're taking it to a new level, they're going to be new stars. They're playing the old WCWSN music, I think.

Match 3: Último Guerrero (c), Averno, Mephisto vs Heavy Metal, Dos Caras Jr. (c), Último Dragon
Arena Mexico, 05/06/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: rudos
Match Time: 11:31
Approx Rating: Just okay.
Other Match Notes:
One entrance for both guys with the same music here. Último and Último are brawling before the match, and the other four guys just watch.

1: That fight gets broken up before the match gets started; we get a minute of stalling and discussion and even a word from the commissioner before someone locks up. Long and fine Metal/Averno exchange. Mephisto draws Dos, who doesn't look as smooth and gets much more of advantage than Metal did. Dragon faces Guerrero, of course, and Dragon quickly gets the Dragon Cutter for the win. Guerrero thinks he got quick counted, but he just got beat quick.

2: 3 person chant for Mephisto to start the fall. Dos gets a bigger one posing. Mep gets the early advantage, but Dos rallies back to beat up both Infernales, culminating with a corner enziguri on Averno. Metal wants to start with him, but Mep stands instead - and gives Metal a hug? Mephisto immediately get to chest slapping, and Metal ends up running thru both men, looking better than his partner. Metal has a Heavy Punch for Averno to end it, and threats one for Baby Richard. Último vs Último, with Guerrero blowing up Dragon and going after his mask - the other rudos rush the corner, so I guess we're into the beatdown. It never seems like Guerrero gets much of the mask. Metal is brought in, and given two pump powerbombs to finish him. Dos takes a set of corner charges, a spinebuster, and double top rope headbutt for his fall. Looks like Dragon's mask did rip - Guerreros sets him up in the corner for more in between falls.

3: Dragon is dead weight as the fall starts. Averno yells at him to get up, but Guerrero has to pick him up to get this going. He immediately reverse whip into the handspring elbow for the comeback. Guerrero gets him with a senton, but that seems to be by accident because everyone's rallying back. Dragon's mask is ripped up pretty good, and he returns the favor to Guerrero, and that's the focus. Dragon makes sure to bring Guerrero over to the photographers when he's doing it - he's no dummy! Guerrero takes the knee bump to the floor, and Dragon lands the Asai Moonsault. Seems like endgame time - Metal and Dos evade each other when whipped into each other, and Dos lands a running enziguri on Averno. Dos boosts Metal into - well, whatever it was, it was a horrible attempt, and Mephisto heroically throws himself into a Metal 'rana. Dos gests the usual finish on Averno, and that's that. Dragon brings Guerreros back in to rips his mask some more, with Guerrero getting a bit of a comeback of his own. Doctors have to check on Averno - Dos checks on him too, while Guerrero and Dragon are still working spots. They smarten up to go outside and away from the injured Averno. Of course they replay the blown spot in slow motion. Averno takes a stretcher to the back - he did get pretty crushed by that German.

Match 4: Perro Aguayo Jr. (c), Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy vs LA Park, Mistico, Dr. Wagner Jr. (c)
Arena Mexico, 05/06/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:32
Approx Rating: 86. Everyone was working hard here, fun to watch.
Other Match Notes:
Joined at the tale end of Wagner's entrance. Mistico has his belt. Rudos out last, all to Perro's music. Hector and Perro have the WWA Tag Team belts, I think. Both captains are strongly cheered.

1: Perro attacks Mistico on the outside to get things started, but the tecnicos don't let it get bigger from there. They force it back in the ring, where Perro immediately matches up with Mistico, and kicks him around. Mistico rolls out after taking a dropkick to the back of the head and getting nothing. Perro follows him out to run him in the chairs, the tecnicos follow, and now the beatdown is on. Brawl. Mistico takes a Garza front suplex into a Perro gutbuster. Perros suplexes him, and swats him in the head a bit. Slap to the face. Park tries to dive in and help, but he's held off with stomps. Tarzan gets to do the super flapjack, and Garza runs over a kneeling Mistico with a kick to the chest. Perro chops Mistico loudly. Mistico rallies back after a while, forearming Tarzan, dropkicking Perro out, and knocking him into the first row on a tope! Perro's scared now,. Wagner watches Mistico get some revenge, and he gets jumped by Garza. Garza stays in control till Wagner sidesteps a corner charge. Wagner gets knocked down in the corner, and Tarzan charges into a drop toe hold into Garza. Wagner clips Park, setting him up for a Park spinning headscissors. Park tries a spinning something on Garza, but it falls apart - Park ends up with a pancake piledriver for two. Wagner dropkicks Garza out, and slides out to set up Tarzan and Garza for a Park top rope corkscrew plancha. That leaves Mistico and Perro back in, and again Perro knocks Mistico down (this time with a dropkick to the knee), but Mistico turns it around by running up the ropes on a corner whip and coming back with an armdrags. Perro stops him for a moment with a chop, but throws himself out of the ring. Mistico after him - no, Garza cuts him off with a  dropkick. This quite the back and forth first fall. Tarzan grabs Wagner win a waistlock, Park eventually sunset flips both of them, Garza covers Wagner while Park has Tarzan, one two NO. Garza slams Park and heads up, but Park's already getting up before Garza's to the middle rope. They both fight, and Tarzan sneaks in underneath - Park superplexes Garza while Tarzan powerbombs Park. Everyone's down waiting for a splash, and Wagner provides - top rope frog splash on Garza, one two NO. Both fights end up in the corners, with Park and Garza whipped together, and Park winning that one. Dr. Wagner gives Tarzan a leg screw, and both Park and Wagner lock on a submission while Mistico comes flying back in with a springboard plancha on Perro. 'rana is blocked, and Perro powerbombs him before thrashing him with punches. Wagner drops Garza and levels Perro with a punch. Both Park and Wagner stomp Perro a bit, but Garza makes the save and knocks both heavyweight tecnicos out of the ring. Perro grabs Mistico - press slam to the outside, onto Park and Wagner! That's a DQ, I think. Yea, that's what the ref is calling. Perro brings in Mistico anyway, and completely rips off his mask - I guess if you're going to get DQed, it doesn't matter. The refs finally are able to raise Mistico's arm to end the fall, but he's done and staying there. Replays

2: Rudos firmly in control to start this fall. Mistico may have gone to the back to get a new mask, because I only see Park and Wagner, and they're messing with both of their masks. Brawling. Garza sets up Wagner upside down and hands him off to Perro so he can dropkick him in the head. Mistico rushes back to the ring with a odd blue mask; he's in such a hurry, he slips a bit upon stepping in the ring. He superkicks Perro, and that starts a momentary comeback, but the numbers till work for the rudos. Park is whipped into Mistico and knocks him down. Mistico is whipped into Park and does the Mistica spinning setup to escape to his feet and lead the charge on Tarzan and Hector. They take out those, Perro takes off those two, and Wagner and Perro have a drag out fight. Wagner plants Perro with a jumping powerslam, gets the dropkick to the head, and tags in Mistico. Mistico headscissors Perro out, but gets tripped by Wagner before he can do the dive. The other four all in, and the rudos can't get the tecnicos with clothesline. They're not going to go down. Tecnicos hit spears on the third try, and then the match comes to a halt for a sec as the tecnicos try to figure out what to do next. Park sets up some bodies and heads up. Wagner is behind him, and they're taking a lot of time setting up - top rope splashes hit! Perro breaks up the cover, but Mistico breaks him up with a dropkick. Again Garza gets Mistico with a kick before he can do anything else. Wagner and Park dropkick out Wagner and Tarzan, and tease a dive when the rudos duck down. The Perros yank them out, and all four fight for a second on the floor while Perro meets Mistico. Perro kicks Mistico, loads him over his shoulder, and  urns him sternum first in the corner. Perro sets up Mistico, a bit farther from the corner than normal, and heads up. Top rope tope con giro misses! Wagner's senton misses, Garza's slingshot senton misses! Parks splash misses! Tarzan's missile dropkick misses! Finally, Mistico connects on a normal dropkick and Park follows out with a tope. Garza setting up - suicide moonsault onto Park. Wagner's pumped, and heading out - bowling ball tope con giro from the apron. Once again, we've got Mistico and we've got Perro. Mistico charges, sunset flip one two NO! Crowd was going nuts for a second there. Mistico back up, Perro shaky, Mistico 'rana one two NO! Garza would've broken that up at about 4.5 He's on the apron now, and watching as Mistico tries La Mistica. Perro back drops him away, and boots Mistico low. That's that. Two falls, two DQs, tecnico sweep.

Dr. Morales: "Foul! FOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL!"
Magadan: "What are you talking about?"
hahahaha

So anyway, this sets up the singles match, which I saw months and months ago.

That's it.
