CMLL Mini Line - 08/06/05 (#182)

Welcome To The Show Vignette: Dr. Wagner

Match 1: Nitro (c), Veneno, Dr. X vs Safari (c), Sagrado, Virus
Arena Coliseo, 03/01/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:58
Approx Rating: Average
Other Match Notes: Entrances included. Veneno seems very angry. Dr. X and Nitro pose with newspaper articles - I think the stories are on Veneno.

First fall is standard chain wrestling. Veneno and Sagrado have a pretty good exchange, thanks to Veneno. Dr. X/Safari next. Nitro and Virus are the first to go off the ropes. They end up on the floor, but don't do much there. Safari and Veneno back in, and after Veneno spazes out while taking chests slaps, it breaks down a bit from there into a four way with Sagrado and Dr. X. Virus finishes Dr. X with a Nudo (5:21) and Veneno is finished by the other two with a double armbar/legbar hold. (5:32) Break, then replays.

Second fall is immediately into the beatdown. Doesn't go long, either. Nitro splashes Virus to take him. (1:31) Veneno gets Sagrado in a modified Boston Crab to take care of him. (2:05) Replays, as they keep working over the tecnicos

Sagrado gets corner whipped, and does not move, getting killed by clotheslines and boots. Virus's turn, and he gets dropped. Safari gets a triple boot, but slides out on a corner whip, and that turns the tide. Dr. X hilariously tries to take three tecnicos and gets pounded for it. Tecnicos rune wild for a while, but Safari gets pulled out on a double Heart attack try. Virus finishes his clothesline, then turns and drops Dr. X with a tope for pulling out his partner. Veneno adds a slingshot tope con giro to the pile, leaving Nitro and Sagrado as the only ones in. Sagrado blocks a kick, gets a hammerlock, and then an inside cradle for three. (3:21

Match 2: Mephisto, Taguchi, Okumura vs Satanico, Misterioso II, Alan Stone
Arena Mexico, 03/04/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 6:29 shown
Approx Rating: outside of the finishers, nothing noteworthy
Other Match Notes: First fall is not shown - we join right at the beginning of the second fall.

Normal one on ones to start this fall, with Misterioso II/Okumura to start. Alan versus Taguchi next. Taguchi has thin legs. The stupid fire alarm is going off again, distracting me, but Taguchi does a fine job without distinguishing himself. Satanico and Mephisto mix it up with chops, and Mep waves in his partners to help. Triple boot there, and the beatdown is on. Camel clutch/dropkick to the face, of course. Triple powerbomb for Misterioso, but they're still not pinning anyone. Satanico brought back in. Everyone grabs an appendage and pulls, and that's it. (4:35) Alan back in to break it up, but the falls over, so Mep just throws him out. Look at the fans, look at the replays.

Alan tries a 1-3 to get the fall started, and it doesn't quite work. Triple corner clothesline for him. I think the tecnico referee actually talked the Japanese rudos into leaving the ring for a moment, but then Mephisto smartened them up. Satanico almost gets into a fight with the referee about keeping him out of the ring. Corner whip, for him, Mep charges and gets backdropped. Satanico back elbows him to the floor and lands the diving senton! Comeback is on - at least until Okumura and Taguchi block clotheslines, and turn them into Dragon and German Suplexes! That's that. (1:54) That comeback lasted like ten seconds and then they were dead. Break.

Match 3: Vampiro vs Black Warrior in a lightning match
Arena Mexico, 03/04/05

Winner: Vampiro (brainbuster)
Match Time: 5:43
Approx Rating: 75.
Other Match Notes: I believe the backstory here is this was supposed to be the lead in for Arena Coliseo Guadalajara going to more strong style wrestling, except for other reasons this turns out to be Vamp's last CMLL match for the time being. If that's what they were going for, you can see it - they're certainly doing something other than lucha style, and there's plenty of stiff shots. There's also a horrible chokeslam two minutes in which may be Warriors fault for not going up. It doesn't seem like the crowd is sure what to make out of this match. Warrior gets beat a lot early, but gets a back suplex, and then knocks Vampiro out of the ring so he can land the tope. Warrior takes control off offense from there, including a spinning fisherman's suplex and something faintly resembling a STF. Vampiro gets to the ropes. After Warrior works over Vampiro's right leg, they bang in to each with clotheslines, then Vampiro surges back to full power out of nowhere to kill Warrior with a brainbuster. That'll do. (5:43) Leg's hurting now.

Stellar Moments
Lance
: Ultimo Dragoncito with a thru the ropes tope con giro on la Sombrita
Combination: Okumura and Taguchi pull off the same suplex combo on Sagrado and Safari last week.
Doloroso: triple dropkick to Negro as he hangs in the tree of woe.
Tecnico: Negro gets revenge with the corner dropkick to the face on Mephisto.
Spectacular: Ultimo's off the top rope flipping front slam on Mistico - that got him DQed.

Match 4: Cien Caras (c), Mascara Magica, Apolo Dantes vs Brazo de Plata, Negro Casas (c), Mascara Magica
Arena Mexico, 03/04/05

  1. a
  2. a
  3. a

Winner: a
Match Time: a
Approx Rating: a
Other Match Notes:
Includes entrances, and Porky dancing. Crowd very loud for it.

Standard opening. Negro works with Cien, Porky with Apolo. Magica blows a springboard elbow on MY2K, but dropkicks him out and topes him anyway. Negro gets a Majistral on Cien easily (4:13), and Apolo tries a sunset flip on Porky. (4:16) Replays. Break.

Negro and Mascara starts, and Negro takes his typical near death back suplex bump to start the beatdown. Nice slingshot into a DVD combo. Cien gets a reverse figure four on Mascara to take him out. (1:45) Apolo gets gets revenge splash to end the fall. (2:25)

Beatdown continues thru falls. Apolo tries to break Negro in half with a camel clutch, and then a half crab. Magica takes corner shots., and then gets Porky whipped into him. They try to do the seem to Negro, but he pulls Apollo in the way, Apolo gets sandwiched, and that starts the comeback. End game has the Capos working better as a team - Mascara blasts Negro with a big boot as he's going for La Majistral, and Cien turns into a grounded crucifix for the pin. (4:08) They hang Magica upside down some, but the fall's over.

Vignette: Rey and Ultimo talk - Ultimo's very down after losing to Mistico last week. They agree he totally got screwed by the ref.

Match 5: Ultimo Guerrero (c), Rey Bucanero, Hector Garza vs Dr. Wagner Jr. (c), Mistico, Dos Caras Jr.
Arena Mexico, 03/04/05

  1. Tecnicos
  2. Rudos
  3. Tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:21
Approx Rating: 84. The Mistico/Ultimo storyline stuff was very well done.
Other Match Notes:
Ultimo Guerrero attacks Mistico mid entrance, but Dos and Wagner cut him and Rey off from getting at Mistico. Hector takes his time getting there. Ultimo keeps trying to get around people to get him, and Mistico keeps ducking him. Ultimo's steamed.

Last week: Mistico pulled the mask and won!

Meanwhile, the match has actually started, Wagner and Rey in there. Wagner easily destroys Rey. Garza and Dos next. The mean chants of the crowd hurt Garza's ears. Garza does not win the leg kick battle - Caras loses when his enziguri is too high. Garza taunts Wagner into coming in, but nothing comes from it, yet. Rey and Garza try double teaming Dos, which doesn't go so well. Finally, Ultimo and Mistico - Ultimo chases Mistico around the ring, so Mistico does a 619, and Ultimo goes flying out of the ring after his legs. Ultimo in Mistico out, Mistico springboard armdragging back in. Ultimo heads out of the ring after a headscissors, but Mistico drops on him with a tope rope plancha. The other four all in the ring, and the tecnicos take it with a Dos Caras German suplex on Rey and a hammerlock/headscissors submission on Garza. (5:15, 5:16) Lots of Wagner masks. Everyone pose. Replays, break.

Ultimo still wants Mistico to fight him face to face, but the tecnicos are slow to return to the ring, and Ultimo's not getting his match quite yet regardless. Instead, he and Wagner exchange chops. Nice running tornado DDT by Wagner, and while Ultimo's down, Wagner tags in Mistico - missile dropkick! 619! Tag to Dos before Ultimo can recover. Dos adds a F5, and  Ultimo is slow up. Caras swats him with a kick, and makes the tag to Mistico. Mistico flips off Ultimo's chest with a dropkick, and then flips Ultimo over with another. spinning armdrag, Ultimo sleds out, and Mistico pulls of a 619 into a headscissors on the floor. Rey tries his luck against Wagner, and we almost have death - Rey tries a face first powerbomb, Wagner tries turn into a bodyscissors rollup, but only succeeds in landing on his neck. That's it for him. (2:18) Garza gets a rolling reverse rocking horse on Dos, and he's done. (2:31) Referees check on Wagner's neck. Replays - Wagner gets killed every time.

Rolling onto the third fall with the beatdown on. Rudos clear everyone besides Mistico out of the ring, and then leave him to Ultimo. Mistico sidesteps a corner dropkick and is on him with chops. Corner whip, reversed, Ultimo charges, Mistico moves, and Ultimo takes the knee bump to the floor. Mistico sizes up a dive, but Garza kicks his legs out from underneath him. Dos in to take up for his partner, and gets a powerslam for a near fall. Garza battles back, getting Dos with a missile dropkick, clotheslining him to the floor, and consulting off the middle ropes to the floor! Wagner tries to join them with a dive, but Rey armdrags him off the rope. Rey beats him down and is pumped, but can't get Wagner down with clotheslines. On the third, Wagner overhead belly to belly suplex him INTO the top rope (ow - I think he meant to go over, because that's where he ends up.) Wagner out to the apron and nails Rey with a somersaults body block. Which leaves - Mistico versus Ultimo Guerrero. Mistico is very unsure about this match up. Mistico goes for a takedown, Ultimo blocks, grabs him in a grounded crucifix, and waylays him with elbows to the head. It's over very quick. (2:26) but Ultimo isn't letting up once again.  He's just killing the kid - and once again, it costs him. (DQ 2:35) Ultimo still isn't letting go, but Wagner and Dos pull him off - Wagner ripping Ultimo' mask up in the process as the (ringside) doctor and Dos check on Mistico, who doesn't look good. Wagner is laying into Ultimo big time for beating up his partner. Hector's being held away by the referees and I'm not sure Rey is, but he could use some help. Finally, Wagner stops - to go get a microphone? Mistico isn't moving. Wagner dares Ultimo take on someone his own size, I believe. Mistico's being stretchered out. Ultimo and Wagner get into it again, Wagner knocking down Ultimo and knocking Rey off the apron. Break.

Replays, and that's it.
