AAA Recap
Aired: 04/23/05
Recapped: 05/20/05

Doing a recap off my VCR. How odd. My VCR doesn't like it when I push buttons on my remote, so we'll see how well this weeks.

I have no idea when Cinthia Moreno left!

Advancers: Tiffany and Lady Apache
Match Time: 11:26
Other Match Notes: Four sided ring, which I forget by the second match. Good to start off with a match where I don't know half the people. I wish I could find a LLF site to link to here. Stealing the list from WHV's listing here. All the people I don't know are listed as purple because I don't know, you know? I haven't seen Cynthia during my run, but by her "what are you fans doing? stop it!" act, I'm thinking rudo. They're all coming together, and to "Pretty Woman." I actually did my homework (yay!) and "Sugey" is how La Arena is spelling that Princesa' name, so we'll go with it from now on. The site's got profiles of non-AAA talent Nikki Roxx, Dark Angel, and Esterellita. I can't figure out who it is that's wearing caution tape as a large part of their outfit. They do the introductions again in the ring, the camera man not panning back quite in time to catch everyone, but it does help give me ideas of who must be who; Simply Luscious has the Tajiri pants, Golden Girl's masked and wearing a golden skirt (duh), Nikki Roxx is wearing her (normal?) purple, Dark Angel is wearing white (huh) and then the introductions get cut off so I'm still guessing on Poly and Veronica.

A bunch of rudas advance on Lady Apache, tecnicas help her out and it kinda breaks down form there. We never actually get a bell or a whistle - oh there it is. After all this time tracking down names, what are the odds they show all of them being eliminated . I love how there's a 15 woman battle royale going on, but some how the Apaches find room to double whip Nikki and give her a clothesline. Various battle royaling happens. Great camera shot of people standing around. Nixxi is getting quite killed - getting her face stretched for a minute by Martha. Two minutes in, still no one out. How unexpected. This is a match where you need to switch form people to people often because some of the one one can drag at times, and the production staff has mixed success at that. Announcers call Luscious "Veronica" and I don't think they know any better than I do here. Could you make argue, with the demise of the WWE's Women's Division, that AAA has the best Women's Wrestling in a mixed sex promotion of any major group in the world? I don't know, I think you could make the case. They still think the wrong girl is Veronica. Blanca is wearing her seatless pants. We're well over 4 minutes now and I haven't seen any one gone - and as I say that, Blanca has Chola hanging on the ropes, and Fabi comes over to help shove her out. (4:44) Villalobos is standing on Nikki Roxx! Tough being her. Golden Girl is visibly supposed to take a backdrop out of the ring, but screws it up. She and her sparring partner (I'm thinking Esterllita? Like I'd know) talk it over, back up towards the other side of the ring a bit, and Golden Girl is whipped thru the ropes to the floor? Is that good enough? Let's say so. (5:20) We spend a lot of time looking at Golden Girl on the floor, and get back to the hard cam just in time to see MaybeVeronica standing on the apron, peering down at Golden Girl, when Lady Apache dropkicks her off the apron and to the floor. (5:32) Poor Caution tape. Poor jokes I could've made about the caution. Fans react loudly (hooting) to something? Dunno. We get a zoom on Princesa Blanca, so maybe that's it. Blanca ends up slamming Sugey, leaving in place for a top rope stomp from someone the announcers say is Dark Angel, but isn't the person who was raising their arm when Dark Angel was announced (and I think is Esterellita), so - I dunno, I give. Times are above, but I may be way off on names; I'll try to stay consistent. More people went thru the ropes than over the top.  Felt like they got a signal to start getting people out about seven and half minutes in. The double kick by the Apaches to eliminate Dark Angel was really odd looking, because Fabi was thinking it was a double boot and Lady did a dropkick. Esterellita was the last one who wasn't AAA; she even got Fabi with a sunset flip into a Farmer's Roll while the others stood back and watched. I kinda hope I'm wrong and they're right, because it'd be pretty dumb to give the wrong name for someone you're giving a slight push to. (But it's not strange for that to happen with wrestling announcers and people they don't see typically, which I why I'm not capitulating on my names.) Fabi takes out herself and Esterellita with one of those headscissors over the top rope; those often look sloppy and this one does not break that mold. When they go, it leaves Martha, Tiffany and Lady Apache, and they're quickly joined by a break.

We're back. Next person out doesn't make the final. Martha is looking for handshakes, and she gets one from Lady, but not from Tiffany. This leads to some words. This leads to some yelling to the crowd. This leads to everyone running off the ropes. Tiffany and Lady end up turning on Villalobos, but Lady Apache leaves Tiffany to die when Martha comes back with a crossbody. Lady soon gets squashed in the corner, and Martha goes up to the second rope, but Lady Apache rolls out of the way for a splash. Tiffany and Apache quickly get back for a dropkick, which knocks Martha down (and eventually she rolls out) to eliminate her. They're both happy for a split second, till they realize who they're left with. No fighting yet.

Match 2: Sexy Libra, Rosa Blanca, Sexy Francis, May Flowers, Pimpinela Escarlata, Polvo de Esterellas in every person for themselves cage where the loser loses their hair match
Arena Solidaridad, 02/20/05

Loser: Pimpinela Escarlata
Match Time: a
Other Match Notes: Whatever the fat guy does near the desk is apparently not fit from camera consumption, because we're looking at the crowd. Entrances take forever and I fast forward thru them. I'm not dumb enough to spend time researching names and then getting confused for two matches in a row; whatever they say is what you get. I'm also measuring times from when they get over the top of the cage, since that seems that's when the camera loses interest. Polvo gets to the top, and sits up there for quite a while before deciding to leave. They repeat the same "you hold them down while I climb up - ha, I'm actually climbing up!" bit here. May was willing to hold down Sexy Francis and let Pimp leave, but Pimp refused. May had no problem doing the same when Francis and Pimp were locked up. Pimp ends up alone and bloody. Break.

Back to check on everyone. Still there. Pimpinela does a big speech after. It's got the tone of a retirement speech, but she's just losing her hair. She really only gets a little bit cut, so whatever. Break.

Backstage: Hator is getting hassled by The Man. He's got a ticket, but they're not really eager to let him sit down. I like how they can't possibly kick you out in wrestling if they want to, as long as you have a ticket. Let's watch Hator walk to his seat in split screen, how exciting. Now he can't find it. Time to pan away.

Match 3: Tiffany vs Lady Apache in for the Reyna De Reynas Title
Arena Solidaridad, 02/20/05

Winner: Tiffany
Match Time: 3:38
Other Match Notes: Looks like the women are waiting for the whistle to blow already, but they may be waiting for Hator to get to his seat. Now, I don't know much, but I don't think your seat is on the other side of the barricades, Hator. Hator takes up his seating issues with the announcers. Did they just spell his name Athor? SO CONFUSED. Oh, he's here to give a hug to Tiffany. Lady Apache shoves him, which causes another look at the ticket. Hator's walking around ringside, showing people his ticket. Yay, they found it! Good for Hator. Look, there's women in the crowd. Hator has a cake for Tiffany? Where was the cake? Did he have it his seat he couldn't find? I can only assume it's for her victory here. Oh, it's Tiffany's birthday. Good for her. They play a song for her as he walks around with the cake. This is as odd as it sounds. She yells at the crowd to sing louder for her. She drops off the cake with the announcers. They wish her happy birthday. Tiffany takes a moment to laugh at Lady Apache - it's not HER birthday. Oh, are we going to start the match now? First, introductions. And break.

Back from the break: Tiffany is crazy happy and Lady Apache is beside herself. HUH. Oh, somehow the LLL referee has drawn the assignment here. Since I now know nothing before the run-ins happen matter, let's skip to them. After Apache gets screwed on slow counts and gets dropkicked out of the ring, Tiffany and the LLL ref decide to have a break, and look for something - where's the cake? This concludes our "jokes only odessa might laugh at" section. Lady Apache ends up over there, the LLL ref holds her, Tiffany sings with the cake - and the LLL ref gets it. Lady Apache starts her comeback, which causes Hator to forget his seat again and get involved. Second rope Iconclasm does it. (3:38) Give her All the rudas are out to congratulate her hard fought win. The tecnicas come out as well to check on Lady Apache, which is great because now I know who's on who's side after when I'll never see them again. Ignore what I said about the AAA's woman division earlier.

Much Later: Tiffany does an interview with her new belt. Tiffany knows she's the best, and this proves it. Kiss for the interviewer. Hator is going to bad.

Noti AAA
- Chessman won a title in Tapachula! The title gets no caption so I'm lost.
- "Puma" Jerry Estrada with wheeled to the ring by the Black Family during the show
- at the big Corona Televisa Deportes award show (which is hilarious in existing itself), La Parka won. Oh, this is a montage: he won in 2001 (Latin, Parka, Rayo Jr. - Rayo? CMLL could do better than that), he won 2002 (La Parka, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, El Hijo Del Santo) and took forever to get his way thru the tables to get to the award, he won in 2003 (La Parka, Shocker, El Hijo del Perro Aguayo - footage of him in CMLL and AAA) and he has to accept the award with Antonio Pena, he won in 2004 (La Parka, Latin Lover, Shocker) without Pena, he won in 2005 but apparently there was no award show for him to go to. I question the voting! I question the nominations. I compare this to the Gold Glove. You know I love this, but I'm sure the celebrities aren't really thrilled to be getting stuck with this category to announce. They're all like "ah, ha, lucha, how great to be stuck with this." The 2004 women at least was semi-convincing. Tiffany and Octagon are also at this press conference for reasons I'm not clear on (Televisa said "we'll give you AAA guys more awards if we don't have to put you on our TV" is the cruel guess). Model-type Gaby Ramirez is Reina AAA, a position which means you're in this segment and we never see you again, I'm guessing. La Parka, Octagon and Antonio Pena got to go the after parties, it looks like.

FLASH INFORMATIVO!!!!

Now that they've spent ten minutes on La Parka winning awards, let's mention Heavy Metal has left the company. Here's an old looking Metal interview. Here's footage of Pena at the conference. Back to Heavy Metal. I've learned so much here. Break.

random Black Family vignette here.

Match 4: Black Family (Cueveo, Scoria, Ozz) vs Barrios Boys (Alan, Decnnis, Billy Boy)
Tokyo, Japan (Korakuen Hall), 01/28/05

Winner: Barrio Boys
Match Time: 9:05
Other Match Notes: Back in Japan again. Random Barrio Boys vignette before they enter; it's actually the video for both groups which we get to see before we get to see them. Like all the matches form Japan, we don't get an opening whistle or bell. This is the spot match you think it's going to be, and it's back and forth and mixed enough I don't have as much selling problems as I did with the Kumba Kids one. I mean, it's still all moves moves move with no logic or long term selling - or short term selling, watching Decniss take a fujiwara armbar, and feel no pain as soon as he gets to the ropes, but it's done nicer. I'm not doing play by play because it's easier, and I'd have to remember which guy is which, and I'm so done with that for the context of this show. At least the Barrio Boys have their names on their pants. This whole "no light except for the ring" setup is very strange when people dive out into nothingness. As we come to the end game, Decniss is taking the third F5 of the match. Black Family Guy gets two, gives him the back suplex powerbomb (also sorts of landing on his side there) and misses on the spinning moonsault. HE still manages to get a spinning armbar, but Decniss reverses it to a bad looking reinera, and that's it. (9:05) Break.

Everyone shake. Everyone raise their hands.

The AAA girls dancing is apparently the main event. Or this show was running short. Make your call! THat's it.
