10/07 news

Friday’s preview is all about how the Capos or the boricuas or the Perros aren’t the law – Atlantis, as leader of GdA, tells us that he does that. (Excuse me while I puke.) Normal match lineup. I’m hoping the Pandilla holds onto the Mexican Trios titles; I think Maximo needs something more, but it’s just such a random teamup of tecnicos that it doesn’t say much about the value of established teamwork if they just waltz in and win the belts.

Halcon.net #39 is up. Inside:
– In the opening notes section, there’s a long bit about Blue Demon (and his non-wrestling brother)’s enforcement of their trademark on the Blue Demon image. Unlike Santo, he’s not opening his own shop – you have to purchase from his website (or stands he approves outside of the arenas), but they don’t actually mention the website. This one seems out of date.
– There’s also a note about IWRG’s El Hijo del Fantasma joining AAA as his finishes up his college work.
– Interview with Brazo de Plata. Long, extended by pictures of Porky which are too big to fit on one page. (They do that with all the pictures this week.) Porky explains his brother was inspired by the drummer in the movie The Man With The Golden Arm, but since that’s much too long of a name, he shortened it to Golden Arm, Brazo de Oro. Later, when Porky was trained to wrestle, his trainer gave him the Plata name, without actually asking Oro. His brother wasn’t thrilled, but later figured it was inevitable – silver’s gonna follow gold. It doesn’t sound like he’s on good terms with El Brazo – Porky plans on never teaming up as a trio with him again. He’s down on the internet, too many people saying he’s not any good any more. Someone else needs to read the answer to the second to last question beside me, because it looks like to me he says “I’ve only lost my hair solely 3 or 4 times”, and even if you pretend it means “I’ve only lost my hair 3 or 4 times in singles matches”, that still can’t be right. The interviewer fails to ask him about MMA.
– Arena Mexico recap
– Interview with El Hijo del Solitario. He’s coming back from a knee injury, which kept him out 10-11 months. (Sounds like an MCL.) He’s wrestling as an independent. He’d like to put together a Leyenda de Oro event together for next year, the 20th anniversary of Solitario’s passing.
– PYCV, 09/24 Coatzacoalcos recap. This is the show with the Lider/Crazy Boy death match.
– Interview with Tony Rivera. He got into wrestling by going to Arena Neza and watching Canek. His hair match record is 32-2.
– Rankings! I’ll run that in the next post.
– LLF recap
– An article on AAA’s work with the Televisa Teleton.
