CMLL Mini Line - 05/08/04 (#128)

Welcome To The Show Vignette: Black Warrior

Match 1: Averno vs Mephisto vs Satanico vs Negro Casas in a four corners match (lucha de cuatro esquinas)
Arena Coliseo, 02/14/04
Joined in progress.

Winner: Mephisto
Match Time: 4:28 shown
Approx Rating: None (it told a story but it was a disjointed presentation)

Other Match Notes: I don't know if this is the first four way in CMLL-Mexico City, but this is the first one I know off. Even though it's said to be joined in progress, we get introductions. Rules appear to be two in at a time and elimination rules. They flip for first one in - Negro from the tecnicos, Mephisto for the rudos. Ahhh, there's the clip. Mep gets run into the post while on the apron to set up Casas' dive. We skip ahead to a tag from Casas to Satanico disallowed, as for some reason they have to tag the corner buckle to let that person in (maybe to prevent people from tagging themselves in?). Averno and Mephisto get it, behind the referee's back. Even though this is a four way, and we're just getting highlights, they're working it like a US Tag Match, with Casas being unable to make the hot tag to Satanico for a while. They switch back to usual goofyness when Mephisto tricks Satanico, tagging himself out so Casas and Satanico must fight. These two aren't ones to take a fall, but Casas stops himself from trying a La Majistral to tag in Averno. Averno is not thrilled. Averno doesn't get the better of it, but does make the tag, annoying Casas and Satanico again. It's turning more "prevent them from getting to the corner" style. Averno drops Casas with a huge sit down powerbomb, and he's out.  Satanico gets worked over by both guys, but manages to elude them enough to tag them both in against each other (for the first time.) They go at it with chest slaps, but then turn and knock Satanico off the apron. They follow Satanico to the floor and decide they might as well beat him up for a while. Skip ahead to Averno working over Satanico in the ring, but Satanico catching him in a small package for three. Satanico lands his apron dive tope on Mephisto, and both are in dangerous of being counted out. Satanico kicks Mephisto from getting up and comes in, but Mep still makes it. Clip. Mep tries for the double underhook back roll submission, but it falls apart pretty quick. Mep changes wacky submissions to a combination hammerlock/front facelock choke and that's just weird enough to work.

Vignette: Hype for the 03/19 show.

Match 2: Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero (c), Black Warrior vs Vampiro (c), Shocker, L. A. Park
Arena Mexico, 02/17/04
Joined in progress

  1. DCO (Vampiro and Shocker )

Winner: Ultimo Guerrero
Match Time: :41
Approx Rating: Short!

Other Match Notes: We don't see much of this, but the point of the trip is clear - Vampiro (back to a big mohawk) isn't getting along with Shocker once again, pulling him off a cover and shoving him out of the ring. They go chest to chest outside the ring, and Park takes Shocker side. Lots of pushing and shoving while everyone's being counted out. Shocker thinks about leaving, but Vampiro pulls him back and knocks him into the crowd. Somehow, Black Warrior (who was going to be beat by Shocker and ended up winning) gets involved in the shoving himself and makes I Want The Belt motions to Vampiro. Vamp's NWA LH Champion, though we've all kinda forgot. We get replays of earlier, Park trying a off the top rope corkscrew armdrag that Tarzan Boy's shoulder probably didn't appreciate, and then doing it a little smoother to Ultimo on a dive. Warrior dive too. These replays are better than what we saw. Ultimo flattened Park with the Guerrero Special and got the pin there, so he was eliminated. We still haven't seen what set off Vamp, and these crowd shots aren't giving me much hope. That was actually the main event, and what a finish to your show.

Stellar Moments. Included in this is a Neutron off the ringpost moonsault to the floor, and Universo 2000 giving Mascara Magica a Tombstone, taking him out of action for the time being.

Next Week: Vampiro, Ultimo Guerrero, Perro Aguayo Jr., Mascara Ano 200, Terrible, Universo, LA Park, Cien Caras, Black Warrior, Shocker and much more. Odd for it to be in this spot, since we still have

Vignette: Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Mascara Ano 2000 and Cien Caras sign for the double hair/hair match. The revenge is more important for Perro. Everyone cuts calm promos, except Terrible gets cocky. Cien Caras is living the 70s every day of his life. It's quite a suit jacket/mustache combo. Shocker and Park are also there, as they'll face Rey and Ultimo for the tag team titles. I was wondering why GdI was seconding the Capos. They all cut promos too. Contract singing.

Match 3: Capos (Mascara Ano 2000, Cien Caras (c), Universo 2000 Apolo Dantes) vs Perro Aguayo Jr. (c), Terrible, Super Porky
Arena Mexico, 02/17/04

  1. Capos
  2. Aguayo
  3. Capos

Winner: Capos
Match Time: 9:55
Approx Rating: 72-77

Match Notes: Universo is out in a business suit, and takes the microphone to complain about being suspended for trying to kill Mascara Magica. Viva Los Capos. And he's off. Capos pound Terrible on his way in, so Terrible hurries to help. Porky is wearing his Jamaican outfit (w/braid extensions), and stops to pose before helping. Hey, Apolo's outfit vaguely matches the other guys for once. How odd. Porky is looking bigger. Apolo grabs his back after backdropping Porky, but he lived to tell the tale. Mascara simply puts his head down too soon on an Aguayo whip and takes a knee to turn it around. Terrible and Mascara almost run over a female photographer on their brawl around the ring. Porky got in his usual run, including his apron dive. Perro again used a cover as a springboard but the referee hasn't started counting. Mascara tries tog et in a word with the announcers in between falls (I think) but Aguayo attacks him first. Apolo crushed Porky with a big tope, even though Apolo ended up flying father. Finish was clean.
