CMLL Line - 03/19/04 (#120)

Vignette: Volador and el Hijo de Lizmark hang out in the locker room, where Mr. Niebla meets them. They discuss Averno and Mephisto's mutiny on Satanico, since the monotoned ones are next.

1 Averno, Mephisto, Black Warrior (c) vs el Hijo de Lizmark (c), Volador Jr., Mr. Niebla

1 trios 1:24

Lizmark elevated full nelson Mephisto
Nelbina on Averno
this was not exactly performed to maximum levels.
2 1:49 Warrior low blow kick Lizmark
Averno inside cradle Niebla
3 3:51 Volador 'rana w/ropes Warrior
T 7:09 tecnicos (2-1)

Notes: Mephisto is red. Averno is black. I'll be doing this till I remember, at least. Warrior and Lizmark have issues that haven't been covered here but seem to upset those two. Fight breaks out to end introductions.

Rudos run tecnicos out of the ring. Looks like Lizmark is the unlucky one stuck in. Whip by Averno, back elbow. Watch Mephisto pose on the second rope. Watch as he comes off the second and third rope with a weak looking axhandle! Exciting. Standing standing oh they're having a staring contest with Niebla. Let's look at Volador. Let's look at Niebla get in a shot on Mephisto before Averno attack shim from behind. Crowd shot. Volador's being worked over with kick to the chest form Warrior. Averno rudely throws Volador the floor. Lizmark in and he's calmly taken apart. Corner whip, Warrior whipped in after him, Lizmark moves - what the heck, the comeback is happening in the first fall? Volador throws a superkick at Warrior that nearly connects! That was something. This is all my second tier favorite guys performing a second tier level, I guess. Lizmark with a cristo on Mephisto - I bet if I said "Lizmark with the Bitchlock on Mephisto", it'd be funny and true. (1:24) Nelbina on Averno, which is sad but true. (1:29) Volador at least didn't waste a dive here, content to pointing and yelling at Warrior from a safe distance. Tecnicos celebrate winning fall one and I'm guessing rudo DQ in fall two to lose in straight falls? Replays. Niebla did break out the vicious slaps to set Averno up for the Nelbina. Commercials? Eh.

I'm not listing these commercials. Yet.

Second fall card girl is very good at what she does. Volador and Black Warrior are doing the corner pose cheer contest. Shockingly, Volador is the winner. Warrior will not give up easily, though. Oh wait, we see that and THEN we get a crowd clip? I want the name of the person who edits these. Lizmark and Averno in - we never got an opening whistle, because it got clipped out or we were all too distracted by the card girl. Averno with a chest slap. Headlock. Shot off, back with a shoulderblock, but Averno's the one going down. Lizmark's a giant here. Averno off the ropes, shoulderblock and down he goes again. Averno can't believe this happening. Lizmark off the ropes, and his shoulderblock spins Averno out. Averno tires a clotheslines, ducked, Lizmark with a semi-jumping kick, press slam, Averno lands on his feet, Averno's chop is ducked, Lizmark with a chest slap, chest slap, and takes the slider under the top rope to the floor! Happy Christmas to you. Mephisto says Feliz Navidad to Lizmark via clothesline. Lizmark reminds us that he got that Booker T Stuffed Bear under the tree by spinaroonie-ing up. Mephisto is more angry than impressed. Mep charges, Lizmark drops him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Lizmark listens to the crowd chanting from him, while Dr. Morales tries starting crowd chants. Mep charges again, Lizmark stops him this time with a double leg takedown, holding on to slingshot Mephisto out. Lizmark off the ropes, Lizmark TOPE. Back inside the ring, Averno's coming to the sad conclusion that his clotheslines will only make Mr. Niebla dance. Yet, he's compelled to keep trying. Niebla ducks, and drops him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Niebla holds Averno down with a chinlock as everyone else stands around waiting for Lizmark and Warrior to do their sequence - ah, Warrior's ready now. Volador off the ropes, over, waved by, Warrior watches Volador handspring and calmly kicks him in the crotch from behind. The only person in the ring who saw it was Niebla, so of course he argues and gets pulled into an inside cradle by Averno as Warrior is leisurely pinning Volador (1:49) This match must continue. Replays of what Magadan assures us is not a foul, despite the apparent kick to the crotch region.

So the third fall card girl is just minding her own business, bouncing her way to ringside while holding up the fall number card. She makes the critical mistake of walking pass Warrior when he's brutalizing Volador. Black Warrior rips the sign away from her and smacks Volador with it, shattering it into a million pieces. This distresses the card girl not at all! Kiss for the camera. Warrior congratulates her for a job well done. Second angle replay of the card board shattering is highlighted by the cameraman not being aware of what was about to happen, and being zoomed in on parts of the ring girl's anatomy as we come into the shot. All the tecnicos are down in the ring as we come back, but Volador is only halfway so - even without the Arena Mexico ramp, Black Warrior's gotta get in his guillotine legdrop, though it's to Volador's back instead of his chest. Averno has Lizmark in an armbar but it's going nowhere, so they pick him up. All three working the same guy now - corner whip, Averno with a charging forearm, Warrior and Mephisto slide out past Lizmark, trip him up and crotch him on the post. Averno tries to finish with a dropkick to the head, but Lizmark's dislodged himself and rolled out of the way already. Niebla in and manages to corner Averno, but he's just stalling till the help arrives. Whip for Niebla, Warrior with a spinebuster. Averno and Mep with a whip, double flapjack, Warrior with a jumping legdrop. Everyone yell. Volador in, and getting choked. WARRIOR BITES VOLADOR'S BOOT. I can't believe that, and I can't believe we're getting two beatdown segments here. Double whip, right into Warrior's back elbow. Whip, double hiptoss to balance Volador on the top rope, and Warrior does get to hit the guillotine legdrop to the chest this time. Volador's disposed, and the tecnicos try two at a time. Because this has a possibility to be the big comeback, we go from as far an angle as we can watch this. At any rate, Niebla and Lizmark and whipped into each other successfully for the rudos once, less unsuccessfully the next time. Niebla slaps Averno, Lizmark covers, Mephisto tires to break it up with an elbow drop and gets his partner, Niebla slingshot splashes both of them and you'd think the comeback was on. Niebla comes off the ropes, Lizmark boosts him up for the elevated double dropkick, except Niebla gets absolutely no boost, doesn't try a dropkick and Averno and Mephisto calmly move out of the way before getting the best of both tecnicos. That was so bad it had to be on purpose. Averno and Mephisto clear the ring before the production takes a step all the way to the early '90s - split screen as both ex-Infernales hit dives! That's weird! Averno still has a great somersault plancha. Crowd shot clip? Not sure. Volador and Warrior are left and that's who you'd think would be. Volador waved by on the run, 'rana stopped and Warrior sit down powerbombs him. Cover? Warrior lets go of the natural sit down powerbomb cover to cover normally, one two pulled up! Well I don't like his chances now. Corner whip, Warrior charges in, splash but no one's home. Volador waits for Warrior to rebound out of the way, to the second rope, 'rana, struggle to complete it, Volador hooks the bottom rope (?) one two three! (3:51) That's a big upset and Volador cheated and Warrior's arguing that he kicked out at two. Referee demonstrate that he counted three. Volador explains the three count to one of the rudos on the outside and gets a shove in the back from Warrior for his trouble. Replays - dive, dive, wait how did we get out of this with no Black Warrior dive? Volador grabbed the ropes with both hands, making it real tough for the referee not to notice. Back in the ring, tecnicos and rudos have an arm raising contest, with the winner being - this commercial break.

Vignette: It's the time of the year for the blooper reel. Rey Bucanero blows a line in the bit where GdI found Violencia laid out. Magica blows his line at the salon. Pierroth confuses himself. Atlantis can't get his challenge to Wagner down right, which is why they'll never have that match. One of the undercarders can't remember his line, and it's not like he gets a lot of 'em. Pierroth blows a lot of lines. But he has a lot. Damien tells Halloween not to swear so they don't get in trouble with the commission again.

Stellar Moments
La Combinacion -
Warrior tried to monkey flip Panther, Panther blocked it, and Volador hit a super springboard sunset flip on Warrior
Lo Admirable -
Sombre de Plata and Rayo Tapito II hit stereo topes on Mezala and Super Comando
Lo Doloroso -
Tigre Blanco drops Loco Max (looking so completely different nowadays) with a tilt-a-whirl gutbuster, and Loco Max looks like he broke a rib.
El Lance - Felino with the double jump somersault bodyblock to the outside on Crazy
Lo Espectacular - LA Park with the crazy springboard corkscrew bodyblock thingy

Vignette: Hey, it's Veneno! Universo 2000 is happy to see him. Hugs for him, hugs for referee Terror Chino. Veneno likes calling people brother. Universo reminds us he sent Perro Sr. to the hospital, so who knows what he'll do with Perro Jr. Probably send him to the hospital, they figure. I think Veneno is still thrilled Universo help get his revenge on Pierroth. Veneno makes sure everything is straight with the referee being on their side, and that's that. Thanks for the random cameo, Veneno! See you in another six months.

2 Universo 2000 vs Perro Aguayo Jr.
12/26/03, Arena Coliseo
86
1 mano y mano 3:35 Universo pins Perro after interference I'm going to wake up in the morning and hate myself for liking this much as much as I did
2 4:33 Universo pins Perro after interference
T 8:08 Universo (2-0)

Notes: Universo's ring announcement runs done him sending Rayo de Jalisco Jr. to the hospital (when Rayo nearly killed himself on a dive), scalping Pierroth Jr., and sending Perro Aguayo into retirement. Because we go the random cameo from Veneno earlier, Mascara Aņo 2000 is Universo's corner man. I think Perro's the face this week in this feud. They focus in on signs supporting him, and he's all smiley, so the odds are good. Universo attacks Perro as he gets to the ring, and the brawl is on. MascaraY2K tries to get some shots in, but Perro's corner man Mascara Magica fights him off.

Universo answers the whistle by running Perro into the post. Pretty even brawl to that, but now Universo is dropping Perro with some wild big boots. Into the post, and hard. Perro's dropped on the floor. He still hasn't been able to get his vest off, and they've made a complete circuit of the ring. Universo brings Perro in, pulling him around and tossing him by the hair repeatedly. Whip, back elbow. Universo picks up Perro to slap him in the back. POWERBOMB! Not a bad one too. One two NO. Magica yells at Perro to not get pinned. Whip, backdrop. Universo looks better here then some people in the last match. Perro tries to brawl his way back into control, but Universo grabs him in the headlock. ARmdrag, armbar with a forearm in Perro's face. Universo cranking it in, much to the displeasure of Baby Richard (who was not the ref in the vignette) - Richard and Richard have a discussion about Universo using the hair to stay in control, I guess, allowing Perro to get free and kick Universo down. Perro with punches to his head, but Universo takes him down. Both getting their way up, Perro with a headbutt and Universo is staggered. Universo tries throwing a punch, but Perro's already falling down thanks to a trip by Mascara from the outside. Slam, Universo off the ropes, senton but no one's home. Perro up but doesn't have much left. First, a replay of Mascara's totally illegal trip. Perro sets up as they chant his name - clothesline. Stomps, and Universo ain't going anywhere. Perro going up, Magica gets on the apron to yell at Mascara Aņo for making a move at Perro, Richard yells at Magica to get off the apron, and Mascara Aņo crotches Perro. I just realized we have Mascara Magica and Mascara Aņo 2000 here. That's not good. Anyway, Perro falls off the turnbuckle after being crotched, Universo covers one two three (3:35) There's a fair bit of Universo fans to cheer for him here. Replays, to illustrate that Mascara totally cheated here and Perro took quite a dive. Many many replays. Perro goes to the fans to complain, we go to break.

Second fall. Mascara Aņo is doing a great job of cooling off Universo with his title. Perro is taking his time getting back in the ring to start this fall, not wanting to be ambushed by Universo. Universo does charge him, Perro spins out of the way and kicks him, Universo catches the boot and takes him down. They tussle on the mat, then, Universo takes control with punches as they stand. Mascara have an argument on the outside. Perro is whipped into the corner, Universo charges him, Perro moves, and Universo hits the corner post on the way to the floor! Perro to the apron, waiting for Universo to get up - running apron dive Thesz Press. Perro is breathing hard but pumped. Replay of his dive. And another angle. Lots of cameras here tonight. Perro back in, waiting for Universo. Universo get the apron, Perro's strike is blocked, Universo strikes him, turnbuckle smash for Perro, Universo goes up top, top rope splash but no one's home. Perro covers one two no. Perro picks Universo up, chest slap. Chop. Universo rests in the corner, so Perro backs all the way up, and charges while yelling. Universo easily moves out of the way, Perro hits the corner and falls down, Universo covers him with a foot on the bottom rope, one two Baby Richard catches it. Universo picks Perro up, chest slap. Perro back with a chop, chop. Off the ropes, crossbody but Universo ducks down and Perro heads to the floor alone. Universo off the ropes, TOPE! And they're both down outside, so it's time for the obligatory dueling towel waving. First, replays of that tope. I think Aņo's got better form on the towel waving. Universo in first. Aguayo a little disoriented, but he finds his way back to the ring. They're both really out of it. Universo charges into a backdrop. Aguayo charges, dropkick is sidestepped by Universo, but not by Baby Richard! That's the end of him for a while. Universo misses a clothesline, Perro off the ropes, sunset flip works but no one's alive to count. Mascara Aņo in to break that up with a kick, and Mascara Magica is in after him. Dropkick! Magica off the ropes, but Universo stops the dive with a back elbow. Universo notes that Baby Richard is still out, and goes for Perro. Chop battle is won by Perro, and he scoops Universo up - TOMBSTONE? Mascara Aņo breaks it up with plywood to Perro's back. Did Mascara just hand that off to Apolo Dantes to hide? Universo crawls on top of Perro as Baby Richard recovers. One two three. (4:33) Hey, straight falls. Universo's good. Magica helps Perro recover, they put together what happened, and they go after Universo and Mascara Aņo! Yea, that was Apolo Dantes, and now he's back to uneven the sides. Attacking from behind, Apolo takes out both guys. Out to make the save is - Perro Aguayo Sr.? Yes! Right hand nearly hits Universo and he bails out of the ring. Mascara Aņo sells chest slaps as death. Apolo wisely took off before he had to sell these chest slaps to a ludicrous degree. Mascara Magica takes off after Apolo, letting the Guapos have a brief moment. Now Perro Sr. is out of the ring and looking for someone to chest slap. Capos are backing off as he approaches. Aguayos got Universo's mask somewhere in here, and they rip it up on the middle of the ring. Clip, and as Perro cuts a promo on Universo, we go away

Vignette: Atlantis still can't cut that promo on Dr. Wagner. Casas talks about fighting for "Plubico." Pierroth stumbles through a promo about facing Mil Mascaras. "Ahora estoy idiota". Atlantis still is stumbling. A Boricuas skit goes horrible when Pierroth loses his train of thought while talking about Veneno. Speaking of, that skit we saw earlier with Veneno goes bad when Universo loses his mic during all the hugging.

Replays of the end of the match. It only took a ref bump and outside plywood interference, but Universo 2000 won in straight falls over Perro Aguayo Jr. Somehow, I get the feeling that this has resolved nothing. Here's Perro Sr. making the save. Multiple angles. It's night of multiple angles, I guess. Tecnicos all raise their hands because they lost in two falls. Is that it? Pose for a photo, okay. That's it.

Rating: Bases on the quality of the finish, ring work, internal/external storyline, consistency and my whims. Also, various other (random) factors that I can't think of right now. 0-100 for matches.

Overall Show Rating: 2

Show Assessment: for a holiday show, good

Closing Notes:

1. I totally forgot this was the day after Christmas till midway into the second fall of the first match, and then everything made sense.
2. There totally would've been a three week controversy about that Warrior/Volador finish if it happened in the US
3. Odd how Perro is a tecnico without doing anything more than having his dad save him
4. And the Capos cheat like heck too, sure.
