CMLL Line - 10/12/03 (#97)
Vignette: Guapos have the dramatic walking out of doorways down. As well as the matching wife beaters. They talk trash about Bestia, Scorpio, and Terrible and laugh about it - oooh, swear. TRIPLE STRUT. STRIPPER DANCE.

It was short! It was not completely horrible. Good build for Taliban/Guapos. I wonder if people who know Spanish know what the deal with Shocker was?

Notes: Violencia turned on Pierroth off camera. I mean, not even in the matches we don't get - he apparently woke up one day and decided he no longer wanted to hang with Pierroth, so they feud. I guess I could see that happening, but why did it take so long? Command Girl backs up Pierroth. You can see why this team might be together - currently, they're all hailing from the same island. They just keep on playing Pierroth's music through the rudo entrance and Violencia's entrance. Odd. I think the tecnicos are overmatched here, but I guess we'll see. Guapos get their own music, though not Shocker's music. Terrible decides he'd like to run down the ramp, flip in the ring, and open hand slap Bestia, so he does just that. Brawl is on.
Brawl is on. These things are better live, I gotta figure. Pierroth hiptossed Violencia in the ring! That's a wrestling move! POWERBOMB BY PIERROTH! Uno dos tres (:26) Perhaps the theory that Markus was holding both these guys back should be re-examined? Maybe I'm just shocked by Pierroth winning a fall clean. The end of the fall does not dissuade Emilio from doing a wonderful job beating the crap out of Mascara Magica. Terrible Managed to get down relatively safely. Mascara Magica is still getting beat while Violencia gets up to take off his ring jacket. On the replay, I see that I totally missed why Terrible is still down - he tried a 'rana on Bestia, and Bestia powerbombed the stuffing out of him. Three count there too. (:06)
Second fall. We've settled into both sides at the corners. Bestia and Terrible start, Bestia running right into a backdrop. Terrible off the ropes, dropkick. Off the ropes, Emilio cuts him off from a dive with a clothesline. Magica and Violencia (remarkably in sync for a new-to-us team up) are on Emilio immediately with double chops. Double corner whip, Magica whips Violencia in for a clothesline, Magica runs in with his own clothesline, Terrible with the step ladder corner clothesline. Pierroth brought in by Violencia and Mascara Magica works him down with open hand slaps. Violencia too, though Pierroth tries to rally. He's in pain - corner whip, Terrible corner clothesline, Magica assisted high dropkick. Pierroth is dead weight, so Terrible lifts him up in the fireman's carry and drops him forward in position for Violencia - top rope somersault senton! That's his move! One two three (1:02) Magica was busy keeping the ring clear. Two fast fall but they've been working hard during the time. Replays of the senton.
Bestia and Terrible are slugging it out on the floor- Terrible manages to post Bestia but gets held back by the ref before he can do any more. Looks like Mascara and Emilio are going at in the ring, but we take a moment to look at the ring girl. Back in the ring, Violencia has taken Pierroth inside - they're having an open hand slap battle that appears to pushing both men to the limit. Pierroth manages to knock Violencia to one, and sneaks in a punch. Whip, backdrop, Violencia with a sunset flip one two NO. Violencia small package one two NO. Pierroth on him with a chop, corner whip, charge in but no one's home - Violencia side steps and clothesline Pierroth on the rebound. Yell, cover one two Emilio breaks it up. Emilio mocks the yell - and Magica dropkicks him! Magica see Bestia coming with a dropkick of his won and sidesteps before dropkicking Bestia out. Terrible in and running - tope on Bestia! Knocked him hard into the front row. Magica and Emilio in the ring now, Emilio misses a clothesline, Magica hits the queobradora! Magica off the ropes, dropkick and Emilio's out. His turn to dive? Magica runs - tope on Emilio takes him into the second row! The people in that section KNEW to get out of the way in plenty of time. Violencia and Pierroth again - Pierroth yells to the crowd, then misses a clothesline, Violencia dropkicks him out, starts running, stops and walks out to the apron when Pierroth moves - apron dive somersault senton MISSES! He hit the floor with nothing to save him! The doctor is immediately over to check on him because that looked very painful (though he did manage to land relatively flat on his back.) We see Magica get beat by Emilio and Pierroth on the outside. On the inside, Terrible wants to try a second rope springboard move, but Bestia isn't there where Terrible expects him, so he has to abort. Kick (hard), open hand slap, running to th ropes, springboard (bottom rope?) but Bestia pulls him off the ropes hard and down to the mat. Senton, cover one two three (2:17) Scorpio Jr., either having lost track of the falls or the captains or not really caring, finishes running down to the ring (he was hanging back on the ramp while the pin was counted) and lays the boots to Terrible (DQ 2:28) Magica manages to come in and take down Pierroth in the brawl, but it's 4 on 2 with Violencia out of it and 2 sure isn't winning this. Emilio ends this match the way he started it, beating the heck out of Magica. Scorpio and Bestia hug. Wait, the ref is raising Emilio's arm? Did they count out someone here? So confused. Terrible and Magica are battered around the ring, which Magica making a brief comeback with takedown on Scorpio but getting ambushed by the others. Commando Girl gets in some shots with a foreign object at one point, but is held back by the refs. We see Violencia getting stretchered out.
Pierroth grabs the microphone - no one can beat the combo of the Pierroth and the Taliban. More stomps for the Guapos. No Mexican can beat them, especially these two. Scorpio asks where's the protector, where's Shocker? He tries a Shocker chant to get him out here. "Where is Shocker? Where is Shocker? [kicks for Magica] SHOCKER SHOCKER SHOCKER" That's not a bad angle. Replays of the match. I'm gonna pretend Violencia got counted out at the same time as the senton, because c'mon why not. He should've been counted out. The senton too nowhere never looks fun. Even as they're scanning the crowd after the match, we can see that they're still stomping the Guapos a bit. If I were Terrible and/or Magica, I'd be annoyed.
Spectacular Moments:
Lo Admirable - Ultimo Dragoncito gets waved by Pierroth, so he kills a rudo
midget on the outside with a through the ropes somersault plancha.
Lo Espectacular - Neutron uses a ringpost moonsault to the floor on Sangre
Azteca and lives to tell about it. Actually, he pretty much lands on his feet
thanks to a nice catch
El Lance - Averno's somersault plancha from last week. Seems like he's got more
hang time in other ones, though it's still nice.
El Tenico - Havana Brother III (Quance) beats Blue PAnther with a Shooting Star
Press.
Lo Dolorso - the low blows that lead to the Taliban win last week. That
Bestia/Terrible low blow looks a lot better from the reverse angle.
Vignette: GdI hang out by the stairway of doom. They're totally not nervous about this big #1 contenders match. After all, Rey and Ultimo are the pairs champs and Tarzan has some awful mutton chop side burns. Together, they'll be the champions of the world. They've got to concentrate and focus. Ultimo and Rey bring up Averno apparently stealing half of their masks and gluing them together. But he's not better than them. This goes on and on and I loose any track of what they're talking about. I'm guessing they'll even let Rey eat whatever he wants for lunch and pay for it if they win, because he seemed pretty stoked.
Dr. Morales puts over the "Satanico taught Rey and Ultimo what they know" storyline. I think the Havana Brothers match is wrapping up in the background - seems like them. The crowd is pretty happy with the match, from what it seems.

Contenders Tournament Final Infernales (Satanico (c), Averno, Mephisto) vs tGdI (Tarzan Boy (c), Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero) 07/18/03, Arena Mexico |
84 | ||||
| 1 | trios | 1:33 1:57 |
double Infernale Bomb on Rey Averno/Mep double powerbomb Tarzan |
Perfectly acceptable main event trios match which I would've liked to get more time. Infernales are (of course) good rudos, but GdI switched to tecnico reasonable well. Fans still seemed to stick with Satanico on the low blow finish.
| 2 | 2:07 | Ultimo Gory Special Satanico | ||||
| 3 | 3:21 | Ultimo DQ (Satanico fake low blow) | ||||
| T | 7:01 | Infernales (2-1) | ||||
Notes: Someone got them to go back to the Queen version of the song! Thank god. GdI also got stylized leather jackets for the occasion. I hoped someone checked that the valet was wearing something underneath before the cameraman adopted the "upskirt" camera angle. Infernales attack GdI on the ramp, and we're off.
Brawl all around the ring. Averno drops Tarzan Boy face first on the apron. Satanico takes Ultimo in the ring and goes for his mask. Mephisto posts Tarzan Boy. Ultimo is getting beat around the ring by Satanico and he still has not gotten off his jacket. He manages to fight off Satnaico just enough to do that, but gets ambushed by the Juniors. Double whip into a Satanico backdrop on the ramp. How did Rey end up in the crowd? He's out now,a nd going after Satanico, but he's cut off by Mephisto - double hiptoss in. Long look at the fans, and back for an Infernal Bomb on Rey. And another! Averno and Satanico hold him down while Mephisto kicks some more - one two three (1:33) Tarzan brought in and knocked to a knee. Hard slap to his shoulder. Whip, Infernales with a double powerbomb for him, everyone cover one two three. (1:57) Are fans booing? Are the Infernales the rudos here? They worked that fall like ones. Maybe it's just rudo vs rudo.
Second fall. Ultimo has had the top of his mask ripped apart. He rushes the ring and goes after Satanico with strikes, but Mephisto and Averno help out and Ultimo is battered around the ring and out. Tarzan in and trying to get a hold on the Infernales, but he takes a double whip, double back elbow. Held for Satanico to hit a running boot. Rey in and manages to knock down Satanico. Shot for Mep, shot for Averno, charge at Satanico and eaved by into the middle rope. Averno and Mep slingshot to the outside, pull Rey to the ramp, and Averno finishes with a running faceslam on on the ramp! Tarzan Boy and Ultimo brought back up the apron and run into each other! Infernales are laying waste to GdI here. Ultimo's face is grinded into the ropes as Averno and Mephisto work on Rey on the ramp. Tarzan Boy manages to pull Satanico off the apron and post him, giving Ultimo an opening. Mephisto sees it and charges, but ends up backdropped back in the ring. Same for Averno. Rey charges - Black Warrior double clothesline flying into the ring! He's pumped. Tarzan Boy with the springboard dropkick to knock to Mephisto out of the ring. Rye and Tarzan high ten, then charge - stereo somersault planchas! Tarzan about killed himself two different ways on the fall, and he's now hobbling around. But posing. Ultimo and Satanico left in - Ultimo grabs Satanico, Gory Special! That'll do it! (2:07) Ultimo's thrilled! His mask is coming off, but he's back in this. That was a total tecnico comeback. Replays.
Third fall. Looks like we can't decide which corners the teams are supposed to use. GdI eventually get it sorted out. Rey and Averno to start - Rey misses a dropkick as Averno slides under, and Averno dropkicks him as he gets up. Averno with a taunt. Rey up, Rey slapped down. Whip, reversed, Averno with an armbar into a tilt-a-whirl slam (I guess? referee blocking the way and it's a confusing spot) but Rey lands on his feet and hits the spinning headscissors. Averno up and trying a clothesline, ducked, off the ropes, cross body is caught, lifted into a fireman's slam, and Rey drops Averno with a powerbomb. Cover, but Mep breaks it up with a dropkick. Kick to the chest, kick to the chest, kick to the chest caught and Rey clothesline Mep. off the ropes, into a powerslam, one two Tarzan Boy breaks it up with a springboard axhandle at the last second. Tarzan Boy back to the apron, and he hits his springboard dropkick, he's pumped. Maybe he'd like to follow up sometime? Tarzan with waistlock, Averno tries to elbow out, tries to jumping snap mare out but he's dropped down by Tarzan Boy. Tarzan with the walking walking legdrop, and more taunting to the crowd. Maybe appealing to the crowd? Maybe just general posing. Satnaico gets sick of it and comes into kick him. Chop the chest, chop to the chest, whip, double leg takedown, standing figure four and Ultimo comes into break that up with a kick. Satnaico and Ultimo going straight up with open hand slaps, and Satanico gets the better of it. Right hands, whip, reverses, Ultimo charges into a boot. Satanico charges out, clothesline is ducked, Ultimo right hand, right, hand, right is blocked and Satanico goes for the mask. Ultimo slips free, corner whip, charge in, Satnaico backdrops him to the apron, back elbow to knock him to the floor. Satanico going up! but Tarzan Boy cuts him off with punches. Mephisto with a dropkick to knock Tarzan Boy off and to the floor. Mephisto running slingshot tope! Rey in to deck Satanico on the apron, and yell for the crowd. He wants Averno - Averno tries a clothesline, blocked, Rey's short clothesline misses. Averno charges again, 'rana is pushed by and Averno drops a face first on the corner buckle. Rey puts on a step over armbar, but Averno won't give! Ultimo and Satanico back in - both of the ropes, Ultimo kicks, Satanico goes down? And yells "FOUL FOUL FOUL FOUL FOUL!" Tecnico referee turns around and sees, - and believes Satanico. Rey and Ultimo can't believe it, but it's over. (DQ 3:21) Magadan, supporter of rudos everywhere, thinks that was a terrible call, which means - I'm very confused about who was what here. Now that it's over, I guess it doesn't matter. Infernales move on to take on the trios champions two weeks from now. I think Tarzan is going to cry. I think Rey is crying. Ultimo gets on the microphone to yell about this, but it's break time.
Next Week: Vampiro, Shocker, Mr. Niebla, Dr. Wagner, Halloween, Terrible, Ultimo Guerrero, Satanico, Pierroth, Emilio, Negro Casas, Violencia and much much more. Wait, Casas is still on this show? He hasn't been on in two months!
We come back to find Ultimo Guerrero still yelling at Satanico and trying to get the crowd to goad him into a mano y mano match next week. Satanico doesn't seem to care as much about that as he did winning the match. Satanico tells the crowd to be quiet, so maybe - oh, I dunno. They got first entrance, which is good enough for me. Anyway, Satanico agrees, Satanico's experience will beat Ultimo's youth next week. Ultimo's youth tells him to start brawling with Satanico right now, with the other four keeping each other at bay and letting those two fight all the way up the ramp (and almost off). Junior Infernales help out when it goes against Satanico, and we've got a Pier Six brawl for a moment until the referees separate them. Replays of the match close us out.
Rating: Bases on the quality of the finish, ring work, internal/external storyline, consistency and my whims. Also, various other (random) factors that I can't think of right now. 0-100 for matches.

Closing Notes:
1. They did do a nice job of building to the upcoming major show without a lot of screwyness.;
2. Would've liked to see GdI/Infernales get more time.
3. Perfectly happy with the time Pierroth got.
4. At least the booking confirmed what we might have suspected all along - Magica and Terrible aren't near Shocker's level
