CMLL Line - 08/17/03 (#90)
In Other Action: This is becoming a habit.
We join the second fall of - well, if they'd show us I'd tell you. Not that I have a problem with the ring girl. Ah, Capos vs Tarzan Boy, Sadam and Pierroth. This is becoming a good habit! The Dynamite Brothers are winning a beatdown, until they decide to let Cien and Pierroth go one on one. Still, Cien's doing pretty good, as faces tend to do in those situations. Cien and Pierroth are apparently your captains, Cien's side having won the last fall. Cien gets tripped up by CGII, and the match breaks down into a brawl. Mascara Ano has gotten back all of his hair, you know. Most of the focus is on Pierroth/Cien bit. Universo takes a triple backdrop, and a backdrop to the floor. I guess Sadam is Scorpio this week, because I'm not used to seeing Poder throw his boots like that. But I haven't seen him in forever. Rudo beatdown going on. They bring Cien in, and take a while, which is always your sign that it's going to go badly wrong. Pierroth gets tripped up and pulled out by Mascaras and we've got a comeback. Universo with a second rope missile dropkick, wow. This fall is just kinda meandering now - we're back into a Capos beatdown. I don't know if we were supposed to make something of Tarzan Boy asking for help and not getting it. Pierroth reluctantly has to come in, and 3 on 1 goes against him for once. The evilest thing the Capos can think to do to him is slap him in the back may times. Double drop toe hold has looked better, but triple dropkick to the head is nice. Rings of Cien? Close enough. (4:27) So, that's two straight weeks with straight fall wins for the Cien teams over the Pierroth teams.
Vignette: Underneath the bleachers, Damien waits to meet his partners, and gets a bit spooked when Halloween sneaks up on him. (Maybe it's the red lights?) Damien's on edge, going into this battle with out Nicho, but Halloween is sure they can win with or without Nicho. Violencia is a Boricua, so he's good, and they're Tijuana-ian (close enough) so they're great. No problem.

| 1 | trios | 4:24 | triple submission Satanico | Good match with decent ending to build the feuds. Violencia fits in here fine. Always a little funny to see the supposed spawn of evil Infernales win with babyface spots and get huge pops for it. | ||

No entrances - straight to a pre-match brawl, as the Infernales go after Halloween and Damien. Violencia is a little slow remembering to help his amigos for the day.
Bell officially rings right after the out of town rudos have been tossed. They decide - to go join the rowdy tecnico section? They're walking out that way. Stall, more stall, okay they're back. Damien is wearing his Mexico's Most Wanted (Back: Lucha F'N Libre) T-Shirt. He's willing to come in if it's one on one. Sure, why not. Averno and him to start. Lockup, armdrag by Averno and out goes Damien. He does come back in - single leg for Averno, rolling him to his feet only to get rolled down via armdrag. Okay, Damien's had enough of this - tag to Halloween. Halloween charges with a clothesline, it is side stepped, Averno with a drop toe hold and aiming for a rear choke, but Halloween squirms free and grabs an arm. Armbar. Averno armdrags out, but Halloween complains about a hairpull. Halloween's hair is not nearly long enough to pulls that out. Okay, since that didn't work, rudo strategy session. This week's strategy - spit at Mephisto and invite him in. Mep has no problem with that. Halloween has a problem with the fans cheering for him, and shoves Mep to show his displeasure. Open hand slap battle is on - Mep blocks, and locks in a Fujiwara armbar. Damien and Violencia are in, breaking that up and clearing off the apron, then breaking it up again because Mep won't let go. Stopping on Mep - double whip, double back elbow, triple face first powerbomb, double dropkick to the face. Averno in but Violencia quickly corners him. Averno tries to fight out, but no dice. Whip, Averno tires a crossbody but it's caught by Halloween - F5 has looked better. Halloween and Violencia go for double Fujiwara armbars but Satanico is in to break it up. Damien in over and brawling with Satanico - really leaving Satanico open for an attack from behind for Violencia. Triple - wait, let's discuss, okay- triple whip, double spinebuster drop into the double rolling legbars. Violencia adds a kneeling chinlock and his team gets fall one. (4:24) Replays.
Mephisto is ready to start fall 3, but FdT needs to pose on the turnbuckles first. They try to sneak their way over into an attack, but Mep sees it coming - Halloween's slap is blocked and returned, back elbow for Violencia, and for Damien. It isn't enough, though, and Damien and Violencia quickly grab him for Halloween to hit a superkick. Mep stomped into the mat, then picked up, triple whip, triple boot, he rolls out. Mep in and going after Halloween, but the other two beat on his back. Corner whip, corner clothesline (Violencia), corner pounding clothesline (Halloween), Poetry in Motion (Damien with Halloween). Averno out, Satanico in. Trying to find an angle and getting surrounded in the corner and beat down by all three men. Corner whip, corner clothesline by Violencia is ducked under, so is the double clothesline by the other two - Averno and Mephisto with missile dropkicks! Averno goes out to beat up Halloween more, and Satanico and Violencia are left alone in the ring. Open hand slap battle ends with Violencia using a knee. Whip, hiptoss is blocked and Satanico hits one of his own. Violencia manages to get up and chop Satanico out of the ring, but makes the mistake of leaning over for a punch and gets pulled out. Damien in, but Mep takes him down with a back elbow and a big boot. YELL. Tag to Averno - whip, backdrop, Damien smart lands on the apron and positions to his head, his punch is blocked and Averno kicks him before going to his knees. Mephisto charges, uses Averno's back to boost, jumps over the top rope, grabs Damien and drops him on the floor with a sunset flip powerbomb! I've never seen that, but it looked all sorts of painful here. Mascot splash did not. I was trying to ignore him but he did something anyway. I believe Damien gets ruled out here (2:34), as later results seem to indicate that Violencia is the captain. Averno and Halloween in, in the meantime - Halloween's doing that thing where the open hand slaps don't hurt his chest, and he's so sure of it he's got to pull off his shirt. But when he goes to take off the shirt, Averno grabs him in an inside cradle one two THREE! (2:46) Halloween, his shirt half off, can't believe that just happened. I think he's saying some bad words right there.
Quick cut to third fall? We didn't get all of the break. Mephisto is ready to start for his team, and Violencia eventually comes in for the opposition. Mep's dropkick find no one, and Violencia shoulderblocks him down when eh gets up. Violencia winds up, off the ropes, waved by, and armdragged on the second pass. Averno charges, kick is caught, Violencia spins him and clotheslines him. [CLIP HERE] FdT try three stereo bulldogs, but they're pushed off into each other, of course. Damien and Violencia roll out of the ring, but Halloween tries to go three on one with open hand slaps. It works well until he stops to crotch chop - that gets him a triple team beating. double whip, triple pump powerbomb (more on Mephisto than usual) one two THREE. (:59) Averno stomps Halloween out of the ring, but it looks like the fight is still going on outside - Satanico gets thrown into the post by Violencia, then he and Damien are in the ring and on Averno whip, press slam and drop. Violencia with a reverse figure four + surfboard move - Averno may not know what it is, but he knows it hurts. (1:30) Satanico is in and brawling with Damien and Violencia, but one two many punches. Ducked, and helped by Violencia. Damien off the ropes, Satanico breaks free and Violencia takes the clothesline. Satanico crazy out of control apron dive! Mephisto back in - Damien charges right into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Senton. Going up - but Halloween crotches him! He's not supposed to be in this match. Damien grabs Mephisto off the top rope for the upside down Damien neckbreaker - but Averno low blow kicks him! Mephisto falls on top, the referee stops paying attention to Halloween to turn around and notice one two THREE (2:29) Wow, Averno had a nice match as far as being smart. Satanico and Averno celebrate, Mephisto hurting too much to do so. Halloween can't believe how his team got cheated like that. I think the mascot is explaining to Satanico how Mephisto got crotched. Sounds like Halloween is talking but we're listening to the announcers and watching the replays. Mephisto is completely dead weight on the cover, but it's a nice low blow kick to set it up. Whatever Halloween is saying must not be important, because we don't stick around to listen to it.
Spectacular Moments: Tigre Blanco does a leaning backflip over the top rope into a headscissors to Hooligan on the floor – Safari’s done it a couple times, and it looked like when Safari does it right. Tigre Blanco also manages a forward legsweep cradle into a reverse figure four, so it's a good week to be him and/or the guy in the crowd wearing the Tigre Blanco mask. Niebla hits the somersault senton to the floor on Universo - was that the title rematch? Maybe. Valentin Mayo's top rope sit is apparently worthy. There's Halloween slide to the floor by Porky, which can't feel good.
Vignette: Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero kick around the futbol in the park. Topics of discussion include: finals of whatever tournament Rey was talking about last week, getting revenge on Vampiro in front of "his fans", trying to figure out how they're "his fans" since he's Canadian, Rey's new t-shirt (with possibly copyright infringing NFL logo), Rey's many many fans and Rey's plans for a big lunch.

First two falls criminally short - I think the second fall was designed to show how GdI were better as a team when they get going, but any impact of that was stripped away by the clipping of fall one. Third fall was better than expected, but needed more to reach Much See level. Still, as good or better as hoped for, given time. | ||

Notes: Champions have a complex Aztec Warrior entrance, complete with the headdresses and staffs from last time, and also lots of extras. No fireworks, though. Vampiro comes out in his normal leather jacket and dark glasses. The haircut looks good. Did Lizmark just do the RVD thump point? Of course he did. Clip to the beginning of fall one.
Both teams talk it over in their corner. Champs are going with the blue/silver/black combo. Ultimo and Vampiro to start. Crowd shot, and shockingly, they've morphed into Rey Bucanero and Lizmark Jr. That's gotta be a dream come true for Lizmark. Rey misses a clothesline, Lizmark misses a jumping spinning heel kick, Rey connects on aback elbow. Elbow drop but no one’s home - Lizmark up and superkicking. Lizmark stops to look at Vampiro and gets blindsided by an Ultimo. Double corner whip, double jumping shoulderblock. Vampiro charge in after those two, they duck a double clothesline, Vampiro neatly stopping short of running into his own partner before turning around to charge again. Vampiro runs into a double drop toe hold into the buckle on his next try. Vamp turns over, so Ultimo goes for his corner headstand sit - but while he's up there in the headstand, Vampiro pops up and waits for him to come back down. Ultimo apparently tries to hang up there as long as possible (not having any other option), but Rey's too busy getting beat up by Lizmark to help - a corner rolling back elbow having been caught into a chokeslam. One two three. (1:13) Ultimo drops down into Vampiro's arm, Vampiro carries him to the center of the ring and drops him with a sitdown powerbomb, one two three. (1:16) First fall goes to the challengers. Vampiro chant. Lizmark does the thumb point again. Replays.
Champions are tired going into fall 2, with Ultimo hunched over and in no hurry to start with Vampiro. Of course, he immediately starts running the ropes, so maybe he's better than he looks - a clothesline eventually flips out Vampiro. Ultimo doesn't follow up, waiting for Vampiro to get up - he's staggered by that one. Ultimo's kick is caught, Vampiro spins him, Ultimo's clothesline is ducked, Ultimo ducks the double chop, Vampiro connects on a hamstring kick. Another before going off the ropes for a jumping kick to the chest. Vampiro off the ropes, off the ropes but Rey connects with a knee to the back. Rey sets up for a slingshot - into a Stunner! Rey holds the face lock so Ultimo can add on a dropkick to the face. Champions now rolling - Lizmark in but his clothesline is blocked, spinebuster for him. Ultimo goes for the Stretch Muffler on Lizmark while Rey rushes back over to Vampiro for a leg submission, Vampiro trying to fight back with leg kicks. Ultimo not only gets the normal Stretch Muffler, but adds on armlock and a headscissors while turning Lizmark over. Rey ducks a kick, causing Vampiro to turn himself over and leaving him wide open for an STF. Double submissions do it (1:29) This gets the sponsored replay - you'd think they'd save that sorta thing for the final fall.
Third fall starts. Well, no - Ultimo is looking for a timeout on the floor. Challengers get sick of waiting and come out there. Champions whipped into each other before the referees convince everyone to come back in the ring. Ultimo and Rey thrown in, Vampiro and Lizmark on the apron - champions punch, then run the challengers into each other on the apron. Lizmark falls to the floor, and Vampiro takes a double hiptoss in. Rey mocks the Vampiro chant. Rey and Ultimo work him over in the corner. Rey leaves to grab Lizmark as he comes in - whip, Ultimo over with a kick to the midsection, Rey with the Moss Covered Three Handled Family Credenza! He is the coolest person in the world today - cover one two NO apparently not cool enough. He argues the count, then gets back to kicking Vamp and standing on his shoulders. Ultimo with a slam on Lizmark cover one two no. Rey with a knee for Vamp in the corner as the chant gets louder and Rey mocks it more. Double whip for Lizmark - whip, Ultimo misses a clothesline and Lizmark superkicks Rey over the top rope (slowly). Ultimo tries a corner clothesline on Vamp, but it's ducked and he takes the knee bump to the floor. Lizmark with a tope on Rey! Vampiro to the top rope - dive onto Ultimo! Everyone down. We've got time for replays of the dives. We come back to see everyone trying to get back in - Ultimo and Lizmark make it first, though both are tired. They charge, clotheslines, Ultimo is down but Lizmark is too staggered to follow up. Another Lizmark clothesline, but Ultimo blocks and hits a back suplex. Cover one two no. Lizmark isn't moving on the mat after and, oddly, Baby Richard tries the three arm raise thing to see if he's still in this. Arm falls once, arm falls twice, arm - oops, the director didn't know it was going on because he cut to a close up of Lizmark that cuts out the arm. It looks up when we come back. Both up - Ultimo off the ropes, caught and into an extra spinning layout side slam. One two Rey breaks it up with a dropkick. Rey rolls Ultimo towards the ropes before getting distracted by the crowd. Stomp. Picking Lizmark up, armbar using Rey's leg and an abdominal stretch. While Lizmark give? Vampiro breaks it with a somewhat blocked chest kick. Rey tells Vampiro to bring it on -and the crowd to stop distracting him. Rey charges and is tossed with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Vampiro picks up Rey in kinda of a fireman's carry, then rotates Rey's body so his head is hooked into an upside down facelock before dropping him on his upper back - looked brutal. Inverted Northern Lights Bomb is the best way I can describe it. Cover one two NO! Vamp sets up Rey for something, then goes up - but Ultimo is back up and crotching him on the buckle. Setting up for the Guerrero Special, but Lizmark is back up and breaking that up. Lizmark lifts up Ultimo on his shoulders and drops him face first on the mat. Lizmark ducks down, and Vampiro hits a top rope spin kick on Rey. Cover one two NO. Rey points out the crowd that he's not dead yet, but the crowd is very loud for Vampiro, even the guy in the huge polar beat outfit. It sounds like someone was dumped while we were watching that, and Vampiro is out of the ring when we come back, but I think there was another clip here. GdI double whip, double drop toe hold, double elbow drop, pick up, double whip, double dropkick for Vampiro, celebration, turn and Vampiro double dropkicks them out. Canadian pescado! Lizmark crawls back in but needs someone to face. Vampiro grabs his opponents and yells to Lizmark. Lizmark runs - tope gets Vampiro! Well that's the end of that. Champions bring back in Lizmark - whip, Ultimo clothesline. Rolled up to his feet, there's the double face first powerbomb. Double submission and it is 2-1 (7:18) Rey wants the belts - but they still have to beat the other guy. Crowd shot, but it seems like GdI is using the same sequence on Vampiro when we come back. As Ultimo tends to do on that powerbomb, he leaves a bit early to celebrate, leading to Vampiro reversing it into a bodyscissors roll one two three. (7:41) Ultimo is thrilled with all these people cheering for his victory until he turns it around. Rey can't believe that happened. Yet again. Seriously, that's gotta be the third or fourth time in title matches that I've seen. Vampiro and Ultimo go at it - Vamp kick, fireman's carry lift and slide off the other side in a kinda DVD motion one two NO. Crowd chanting for Vampiro but he doesn't have much left. Vampiro Bottom? Ultimo back elbowing hard out, Vampiro forearms him to stop, and then - oh, it's an Exploder! One two NO. "Vampire!" Announcers are so hyped, they're dipping into English. Ultimo swings and misses a clothesline, Vampiro with a 'rana, Ultimo blocks powerbomb one two NO! Vampiro waves his finger, blocking that ending. Then he raises the roof! What's he going to do next, side kick? Vamp setting himself, waiting for Ultimo to get up - Book End reversed into Fujiwara armbar! THAT'S IT! (9:49) Booker never wins the big ones, Vampiro! GdI celebrate this fact - and that they are still tag team champions. Vampiro's shoulder is killing him. They get their belts back. Rey kisses his, Ultimo gets his put on immediately. Rey gets his on. Pose for photos.
Next Week: Averno, Wagner, Black Tiger, Violencia, Mr. Niebla, Mephisto, Super Porky, Halloween
We interrupt this promo for next week to allow Damien and Halloween to accept Satanico's challenge - you mess with FdT, you get a revenge match the next week. And laugh evilly. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA and so on
...and much much more!
Here's the replays of Lizmark going out, Rey going out, and Vampiro losing. Champions retain.

Closing Notes:
1. FdT/Infernales seem to be meshing well.
2. Shocker is better than Lizmark, but you knew that.
3. We haven't had a Shocker match since - June? Ew.
4. The CMLL LH champ beat the NWA LH champ - though they did split the falls
between them 1-1.
