Max vs Ricky Marvin Nuevo Guapos Tournament 12/10/02, Arena Coliseo |
60 | |||
| mano y mano | 4:31 | Loco clothesline | you can't really like a match where a guy nearly cripples himself like that. Loco was fine, but Marvin slips down a notch | ||
Notes: Hey, Loco Max has a new outfit - Guapo U overalls and a hockey shirt. Of course he takes it off to wrestle, with a blue variation on the normal theme for him. Marvin is still messing with his hair, and he's wearing a cow print vest over an all black outfit. This week's count is 5 other Guapos - No Zumbido.
Circle to start. Loco Max tries to loosen up and antagonize. Lockup - break. Lockup - no, Max with a kick. Chop. Headlock, shot into the ropes, and back with a shoulderblock. Loco yell down and Marvin, off the ropes, slam no lands behind, open hand slap battle ends with Marvin hits a short jumping heel kick. Corner whip, charge into Loco's double boots. Loco up to the second rope, Marvin charges (wait, rolls) back into a slap on Max and goes for the reverse crucifix powerbomb, but Max pushes him away - missile dropkick one two no. Chop. Whip, handspring elbow connects well. Max landed out of the ring, Marvin wasting no time running GOOD LORD HE NEARLY KILLED HIMSELF. It looks like he wanted for a running somersault slingshot plancha, but he jumps to grab the ropes about a foot early, so his somersault takes him into and over the ropes widely out of control. To his credit, Loco Max desperately tried to catch him here - he got a boot to the head for his trouble. Marvin ended up landing on his tailbone, mostly because he was able to grab the top rope with his left hand on the way down to somewhat right himself, but it looked for a second that he was going head first into the apron or the floor. Really scary bump. The rest of the Guapos are over quickly to see if they're okay. All considered, they're doing fine. Marvin is first in the ring - there's this moment where Marvin looks doing at one of the Guapos on the floor and gives him this great look - "How the heck did I mess that up so bad?" Match picks up with both people in the ring - Marvin misses a corner charge with splash, and Loco ends up clotheslining him. One two NO. That was a slow count for some reason. Loc with a slap, whip, powerslam one two no. That was slow too. Whip, reversed, Marvin tries a clothesline as Max comes running at him, Max tries to block it but kinda misses so we pretend it misses, Max's clothesline misses, Marvin with right hands, off the ropes no handspring cross body one two NO. That seemed a touch faster but Marvin is unhappy it was slow. Loco sneaks in a double leg takedown, holds the legs and steps forward for a pin one two no. Still holding the legs, Max just turns it to a Boston Crab - Marvin is in pain. Well, more than usual. Marvin crawling towards to the ropes but it's a struggle. I think he'll make - he does. Loco picks him up in a waistlock, Marvin back elbows out into a standing switch, Loco misses with a back elbow to turn himself, Marvin kicks him in the back of the head (what's with the close zoom here?) and Loco stumbles onto the middle rope, which must mean it's time - yes, it's the 229! Marvin needs to work on the follow through. Marvin going up, and there's some weird bit where I think it's Genetico who gets up on the apron to argue with the referee while Marvin changes his mind and goes to a closer turnbuckle to go to the top rope. Is he still out of it and that was a cover? Top rope - and (Damien) el Terrible pushes him off! I guess the ref was still talking to Genetico here - Loco Max is back up. Off the ropes, clothesline flips Marvin one - no adjusting the pin one two three. (4:31) What do you know, Marvin taking a bad bump DOES hurt him. Fans got on Loco Max but that may be the right Guapo way - maybe we need to ask Shocker. Marvin shows his displeasure by calmly getting out of the ring, turning Terrible around, and hitting him with forearms till Marvin's pulled away. Terrible just practices what he learned in "Amusing Gestures: Evil Laugh 203." Marvin gets back after Terrible again and they end up battling into the dark until Marvin is chased away. Loco celebrates in the ring. Replay of the finish. We see a little more of the post match - Was Tony Rivera out here before? He seems to be talking sense into Marvin.

Super Porky vs Black
Tiger, Apolo Dantes, Giant Silva (c) 12/14/02, Arena Mexico |
63 | |||
| 4 vs 3 | 11:30 | Pierroth pins Silva | Apolo and Satanico were cool. Silva as a heel was good but then Tiger turning on him made it all moot and I can't make heads or tails of this. It was marginally better than your average Silva/Porky encounter but not very much so. | ||
Notes: Not only is this a bad match, but this is another relevos increíbles match. We come in just as the whistle rings. I'm assuming Satanico is a rudo this time - him and Porky shove, so maybe. Apolo and Silva, wow. Silva does not seem to be happy, but then the whole other team isn't getting along with each other. Apolo and Porky start - Apolo slaps and Porky cries. Pierroth is not happy to have a crying partner. Then Tiger and Porky fool around and wow it's been a while since we've had one of these Porky matches. Apolo and Tiger rather face someone else - Apolo offers to the tag to Silva and Silva just looks at him. Apolo stresses the importance of teamwork to Silva. Apolo would like to fight now, but Porky and Satanico are arguing because Porky tagged himself in. Now Apolo is having words with Porky. Now Porky is going to the apron. Wow, wrestling, and it only took tow minutes. Commando Girl 2 is at ringside. Satanico and Apolo have an honorable handshake. Circle. Lockup, Apolo manages a drop toe hold and locks Satanico's legs, but Satanico pulls a headstand(!) to get out. Battling for control, and it's Satanico with a hiptoss to take down Apolo. Single wristlock, with Satanico pulling it low and into a hammerlock. Apolo wit the jumping snap mare to escape, and they have standoff. Where the heck did this wrestling come from. Apolo has words for Pierroth - hey, yea, they can't be partners either because Apolo's a Capo. Satanico has words with Pierroth because hey why not. Lockup - no, Apolo shortens it with a headlock. Satanico will not give - he escapes with what I'd best call a reverse inside cradle, then hooks Apolo's legs. Satanico holds Apolo down, so Tiger is into with a kick to the head to break it up. Apolo's like "hey, we were having a wrestling match here, no need for that", though he was totally looking Tiger's way before hand so who knows if you can trust him. Satanico isn't happy with Tiger and then Porky wanders over to say hi to Silva. Silva: "..." which is about what I'd say too. Back to Apolo and Satanico. They circle. Double wristlock. Up into a headlock by Satanico, headlock takedown into a armbar. Pierroth is in to take over for his team right here, not that Satanico is really happy about it. Chop, chop, clothesline. Satanico's still standing in the ring with "hey, wasn't I wrestling here?" but I think Pierroth just wants a free shot at a Capo - nice suplex, that's odd. Tiger is in to help but Pierroth waves him back (hey, didn't THEY have some alliance going way back in the Legend of the Silver Mask Semi-Final last year?) and Tiger actually listens, hmm. Whip, and a back elbow sends Apolo out. Now it's back to group discussion stage, with Tiger wanting a piece of Satanico now while Satanico and Pierroth discuss who comes in the ring when. Pierroth touches Tiger's arm when pointing for Satanico to shut up and just attack Tiger, and Tiger brushes him back, so Pierroth chops him and they start fighting. Porky wanders over to bug Silva again, unhappy Silva's not talking to him. Pierroth with chops, waits for Porky to get out of the way, Corner whip, clothesline. Whip, reversed, clothesline misses, Tiger with a wheel kick to knock Pierroth onto the ropes and the 022 to finish him. Meltzer said Tiger invented the move and it was Rey who borrowed it, but I don't know what Tiger's calling it so I've got to use the funny Rey way at least for now. Tiger taunts Porky as Pierroth rolls out of the ring. Porky comes in, and I can't help but think that was a mistake. Kicks and chops are no sold. Well, not if they're Porky. Porky with the fat shoulderblock but Tiger ain't going down. Again. A third time - and down goes Tiger. You'd think he'd have a plan there. Slam by Porky, almost falling over while giving it. Elbow drop. Fat splash -porky bounces. Porky points to the corner - he wants' Silva! Silva is in - he's got his hair pulled tightly back in a ponytail to make himself look meaner/more like Kevin Nash. The oddities circle. This is certainly a MOTYC right here. What's Silva gonna do? Walk around a bit more. Porky's not sure what to do. Silva asks him what he wants. Porky wants to chop Silva. yea, that doesn't quite work. Off the ropes, right into the back elbow. Apolo pushes Porky in the head from the apron. Porky rethinks, off the ropes, clothesline makes Silva move back but he's still up. A second does the same. Porky winds up and tries to clothesline Silva over the top rope but he ain't going. Porky off the ropes and Silva hits him with a...um..."jumping kick". Although it might have been an attempt at a jumping knee - it looked that well that I'm not sure except it involved a jump at at least one but possibly both legs. Silva yells. Elbow drop. Now Apolo and Tiger are to stomp a mud hole in Porky (lots of mud) and Silva is helping out himself. Tinieblas wants a stop to it but he refries aren't going to stop Silva. Pierroth starts to walk away in disgust of his partner getting the crap beating out of him, I guess. Silva yells at Tinieblas to mid his own business, and hewn he doesn't, Silva throws him down. Tinieblas is not liking the way this is going. Silva tries to grab on to one of Silva's legs and Silva knocks him down. Whip of Tinieblas, and a clothesline to take him down and out. Silva is out after him - now chasing him. Tiger and Apolo helpful hold Tinieblas for Silva to knock down. Triple team stomping on him. Porky tries to make the save, but Apolo holds him and Porky gets beaten down too. Tinieblas tries to make the save and he gets thrown hard into the post. Notice Satanico and Pierroth aren't doing much here. Porky tries to make a save and runs right into a back elbow. Silva is order back in the ring - meanwhile, Satanico is doing something, beating up Tiger in there. Whip, kick to the knee. Abdominal stretch but Apolo is into to break it up. Snap mare, chinlock, and Tiger and Apolo are calling to their new best friend Silva, but Tinieblas is there fist to kick Tiger and break it up. We rest to having Apolo on Tinieblas in the ring with the rest on the aprons - Tinieblas misses a dropkick. Apolo with open hand slaps and a yell - headlock, shot into the ropes, over, under, into a hiptoss. Tinieblas yells. Apolo charges and hits a clothesline before mocking the yell. Kick. charge, and backdropped to the floor. Tinieblas gets speed but is dropkicked by Tiger before he can dive. Tiger tags in Silva, and Porky is back in for the other side. Porky again tries to do anything to Silva and gets nothing. Whip for Porky, Porky stops running for no particular reason before he gets to Silva's boot, but then stumbles into it anyway, just making it very odd. Tinieblas is trying to open hand slap Silva down and gets throttled with a forearm to the back of the neck. Slam. Elbow drop. Tinieblas is done. Tiger comes into help with a stomp, Silva splash one two Pierroth breaks it up - probably not his wisest move. It all breaks down from there with everyone not Porky in the ring. Satanico is dropkicked out by Apolo and Tiger helps throws Apolo into a tope on Satanico. Tinieblas and Pierroth are beaten down by Silva - Pierroth gets a whip and back elbow before Silva hits his elbow drop. Tiger urges Silva to go to the top rope while he sets it up - slam on Pierroth, top rope NO Tiger crotches him! Pierroth covers one two three. (11:30) Now I'm totally confused but I don't think we can resolve this with simple rudo/tecnico lines, because it's gotten really murky. Apolo is quickly in to yell at Tiger (who actually helped Pierroth cover Silva), and they exchange Shoves with Satanico getting a little involved. Tinieblas has a problem with Pierroth for reasons I'm not sure of, and then Silva catches up to Tiger and beats him down. Apolo is over to help Silva - that's just weird to type, and then everyone who's not Silva and Tiger beats up Pierroth. Silva brushes off Tinieblas and Porky when they try to talk to him, and Apolo and Porky have some post match words too. This was all over the place.

a little off at points, but good. Like to see the effort out of Juvi. Crazy seemed fine but not sold on him being any higher than the Niebla level based on this. Masada seems to a little bit better, didn't see enough of Takemura to tell on him | ||

Notes: Again, we just catch the tail end of introductions. This is Super Crazy's debut. Black Warrior is a sub for Negro Casas. Casas is not present.
Juvi's got "I'm Back" on his tights and rushes Super Crazy from behind, triggering the opening brawl. Masada has red hair this week. Rudo beatdown to start. Masada takes his time working over Niebla but we watch that instead of something potentially interesting. Juvi gives Crazy a suplex before Crazy can escape. A crowd shot and all the sudden the tecnicos are in control - Warrior with a corner whip for Niebla and a corner clothesline. Tecnicos beat up rudos all around the ring, with Warrior and Atlantis chasing Masada and Nosawa up the apron to attack him there - Atlantis with a slam for Masada on the ramp, and Warrior pulls Niebla round by his hair to set him up for a slingshot guillotine legdrop - Nosawa's head was off the ramp, so it took him to the floor, with a piece of the stage coming with him. Rudos regroup on the ramp, but oddly do not tease walking out. Atlantis and Masada to reset this - Masada with chops, whip, reversed, over, under, missing a clothesline, waved by and Atlantis hits an armdrag to end that. Masada runs right into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and they get out. Nosawa and Crazy. Nosawa with a chop and headbutts on Crazy, who's wearing a CMLL shirt over his tights. Whip, reversed, Nosawa with a sunset flip but Crazy rolls though and hits the dropkick. Stomping Nosawa into the corner, and then standing on his chest. Corner whip, charge into a boot, Nosawa charges out and hits a clothesline. Nosawa yells, whip, reversed, Nosawa with another sunset flip, Crazy rolls through again, Nosawa covers up to block the dropkick, Crazy flips over Nosawa, Nosawa looks up to see what happened and gets a dropkick to the back of the neck. Off the ropes, and Crazy with a dropkick on Nosawa. Crazy sets up for a pescado, Nosawa moves, Crazy lands on the apron, Nosawa looks up, Crazy uses the ropes to flip back into the ring and hits a swinging dropkick on Nosawa. A springboard axhandle it nicely. Niebla and Masada in - Masada with chops, but Atlantis helps him to turn it around into a spinning headscissors. Juvi charges into to an Atlantis backdrop, and Atlantis monkey flips Niebla into a running tope on Juvi. One two three. (4:11) Warrior to the top - elbow drop on Takemura (how did he get down there?) one two three. (4:15) Atlantis prevents Masada from getting back in - we end the fall even though it doesn't seem like the right people have been pinned. Maybe Nosawa got counted out when we weren't looking? Atlantis chases Masada outside the ring in revenge for some injustice we missed. Replays of the tope, Takemura missing an elbow drop on Atlantis (ah, that's how) and getting a top rope elbow form Warrior.
Fall number 2. Tecnicos all in the ring, rudos all on the floor to start. Hey, those are the CMLL Trios champs, right? Sometimes it takes them all posing for the camera for me to remember. Right as we seem ready to start again, here's a break.
Fall 2, take 2. Takemura and Niebla to start, which is about where we left off. Lockup, Takemura with a kick, chop, Niebla dances, Takemura yells at the dancing hips. Chop, Niebla dances again, Takemura mocks him. Right misses, Takemura covers up for the slap so Niebla kicks him in the butt. Headlock, off the ropes, over and Takemura stops him with a shoulderblock. Niebla tries to roll away but Takemura gets him - armdrag, no Niebla manages to handspring and backflip out of it, giving a big slap to Masada and Niebla. Niebla grabs a waistlock on Takemura and hits the handspring armdrag to send Takemura out (well, if Takemura hadn't accidentally crotched himself on the bottom rope on his way out - he quickly gets it straightened out.) Niebla tease a tope but dives short, staying in the ring and belly flopping the mat when he sees Takemura and Nosawa duck. Masada tries a legdrop on the apron (which makes no sense, because no part of Niebla is on the apron), Niebla moves (not really) to make him miss, then covers up on Masada, Nosawa and Takemura go to hit Niebla but Niebla moves and their partner gets it. It's as contrived as it sounds. Masada yells at his friends. Back to the match. Juvi in - he wants Crazy. Juvi with mocking claps. Lockup - no Juvi is after him with kicks and right hands and he seems pumped for some reason. Boot to the head. Headlock, no Crazy switches with a headlock of his own, shot into the ropes, back with a shoulderblock. Crazy off the ropes, over, under, rolling jump over a monkey flip attempt, wheel kick is barely ducked under by Juvi, and Juvi's jumping back heel kick connects. Juvi celebrates. Crazy's a little out of breath there, and Juvi just punches him. Kick, corner whip, reversed, Crazy charges into a boot, charges into a backdrop, shoulder to Juvi's gut from the apron, springboard dropkick (one leg, lost control?) from Crazy. Juvi is stunned and out of the ring. Nosawa and Warrior - Nosawa with an open hand slap but Warrior ain't feeling it. Again. A third is ducked, Warrior has a waistlock, then seems to want a a whip but it turns into a hiptoss, Nosawa is blocking - clothesline misses, and Warrior hits his own. Warrior picks him up while calling in Niebla, who works in his own big slap. Double corner whip, Niebla clothesline, Niebla goes to all fours to Warrior can hit the assisted high corner clothesline. Nosawa out and Masada is slow to come in to face Atlantis. Takemura comes into distract and Masada joins him to work 2 on 1. Kicks and chops - for for Atlantis, then for the people on the apron. Atlantis is knocked down as Nosawa finds his way in, bringing Niebla with him. Double corner whip on Atlantis - clothesline by Takemura, who stomps him out of the ring. Corner whip for Niebla, who gets a corner clothesline and Nosawa assisted high corner clothesline. Hey - it's Takemura's assisted high koppo kick! Nosawa with a kick on Warrior, Masada helps lift him for a double powerbomb one two three. (4:37) Juvi's got a hold of Crazy - powerbomb there. He's not doe - Sharpshooter takes out Crazy. (5:01) I guess we either have another phantom countout or we're playing only two eliminations for some reason. Or I really have the wrong people for countouts.
Third fall. Doctors are checking on Takemura's knee for some reason. I guess he must've hurt it on the Koppo kick - looking back real quick, he was slow up and grabbing that knee after the kick, rolling out during the finishes, so it must've been it. Just didn't seem real important at the time. To get this back going, Atlantis attacks Nosawa on the ramp, and Crazy helps to whip Nosawa into his partner. Crazy with a standing moonsault on Masada on the ramp. Back in the ring, Niebla gets Juvi on his shoulder - top rope bulldog by Warrior! Tecnicos have cleared the ring but we're back to another standstill as the rudos take their time recovering. Nosawa in to face Atlantis, but Warrior is into attack Nosawa from behind. Atlantis is quick to the top rope as Niebla and Warrior team up for a double lift - missile dropkick! Hey, if I didn't know any better, I'd think they were a team! One two NO. Armbar, and Atlantis waves in Crazy to hit that arm. Snap mare, legdrop. Open hand slap, Nosawa is psyching himself up for a chop. Crazy answers with a slap. Nosawa slap. Crazy with a dropkick that didn't look right for a reason. Crazy looks for a tag, but then Nosawa tags in Juvi and Crazy wants to stay in. Crazy points to the crowd and get taken by total surprise by a dropkick. Crazy rolls out; Juvi wanted to do another move, so he just yells Crazy from inside the ring. Crazy doesn't seem to want to go in right away and is caught with a kick when he does. Corner whip, corner splash misses, Crazy with a waistlock, Juvi with a standing switch, Crazy elbows out, off the ropes, under a clothesline, hitting his own kinda awkwardly. Whip, tilt-a-whirl hold and then dropping into the backbreaker. Crazy pauses to look to the crowd - Juvi charges, tilt-a-whirl but he lands on his feet, Crazy with a kick, powerbomb no Juvi with a 'rana one two no turned around one two NO. Juvi misses with a clothesline, Crazy with a full nelson, Juvi drops down and gets a bodyscissors rollup one two reversed one two NO. Both men slow up - both men hit clotheslines and stagger. Juvi charges and gets a hamstring kick into the ropes form Crazy. Crazy charges with a clothesline that eventually takes Juvi out. Crazy - top rope Asai moonsault to the stage! Masada and Takemura in to to take it to Niebla and Warrior - Masada is really liking the headbutt this week. They take their time but eventually set up themselves and eventually try for a whip on both guys at the same time, but it get them forever to to get things straight and the Warrior dropkick on both of them doesn't look as cool by then - Niebla monkey flipping his partner into a suicide plancha on Masada still looks cool, as does Niebla's tope on Takemura. Nosawa charges - right into the Torture Rack. That's over. (5:05) Juvi had noticeably walked to the ramp by then, abandoning the effort, and is having words with Masada but I don't think much will come from it. Tecnicos pose with the mascot for winning pictures.
Spectacular Moments: Hey, another Hombre Sin Nombre moment - top rope moonsault. Nice dive from Nitro - nice dive back by safari. Safari's got some ugly outfits. Arkangel looks good in the same clip too. Atlantis gets the better of Blue Panther. Mascara works good with Rey and Ultimo. Santo's Cape Tope from last week was pretty neat looking. They needed a camera shot from Demon's perspective to really get it.

Guerrero vs Shocker (c) CMLL Light Heavyweight Title - 3rd Defense 12/14/02, Arena Mexico |
93 | ||||
| 1 | trios | 5:10 | Ultimo Fujiwara armbar | really really good - better than Shocker/Wagner. Really could've used another finish based on that worked arm, or at least more teases on that fall, but maybe that's a US thing I'm not supposed to be expecting? Still, as well worked as any match I've seen on this show. | ||

| 3 | 7:10 | Ultimo Circuit Breaker | ||||
| T | 14:31 | Rudo (2-1) | ||||
Notes: Ultimo has a (new?) green/silver/black outfit for this big match. Also, lots of fireworks - the same set up as the tag team title match, actually. Shocker has two Santa's Helpers wearing not very much carry the belt - he's into a Santa Clause outfit himself, of course. He throws snow (or is that candy) out of a bag as the fireworks go off. Giving people candy = NUMBER ONE TECNICO. Shocker Claus trades the bag for his belt - he's all serious getting ready for the match but he's still wearing the Santa coat and cap, it's odd. There's the pose for the title match. No seconds. Last time we saw this belt defended was on the 04/09/02 show (#29, vs Dr. Wagner in a really good match) and before that, the 03/05/02 show (#24, vs Tarzan Boy). Shocker won this belt from Villano III on 10/07/01 in Guadalajara (not shown - mentioned on TV on 10/23/02, #9.)
Wow, that referee has a bigger tattoo on his arm than I normally see on refries. Shocker and Ultimo shove during pre-match instructions from the referee. They settle down to get this started - even a hand slap, wow. Circle. Lockup - break. Circle. Lockup - break. Shocker with a right and a left, Ultimo with a right and a left, referee gets in between to tell 'em to cut it out. Lockup, Ultimo with an armbar, into a hammerlock, Shocker with a back elbow, another is ducked and Ultimo trips him into a backbreaker and then takes him all the way down with a single leg takedown. Ultimo turns Shocker over and ties up his legs, with Shocker trying to move for the ropes and then trying to power out, but unsuccessfully. Ultimo tries to spin into a front facelock but Shocker immediately reverses to an armbar. Ultimo appears to roll his way to a reverse (please zoom out) and takes Shocker back down with a single leg, but Shocker recovers with a headscissors takedown from the mat. Shocker stalks Ultimo as he's slow getting up. Back to circling. Lockup, Ultimo quick behind and Ultimo with a single leg takedown into a single leg scissors. Cranking Shocker's left leg, but Shocker reverses to a headlock, Ultimo with the leg scissors reversal, Shocker with the headstand escape and we're at another standstill. Circle. Crowd is loud for Shocker. Lockup, test of strength. Ultimo breaks one of the wristlock and takes down Shocker with the other one, working a hammerlock on the mat. Shocker tries to get up but Ultimo has him down. Ultimo allows him up just to armwhip him onto his back and apply a armbar. Back up again. Ultimo has underhooked the armbar (as if he was blocking a Shocker hiptoss), Shocker tries running up the corner to super hiptoss Ultimo, but Ultimo pushes him off and cranks the hold on a little more. Shocker with the cruiserweight flip out escape (hey, it IS a light heavyweight match - I didn't know that rule applied to Mexico) but Ultimo just reapplies the hold before Shocker can go anywhere. Again and Shocker still isn't able to escape. Ultimo takes him down to the mat to keep that armbar on strong on the left arm. Back up - Shocker tries a monkey flip but Ultimo's holding on to the arm and walking it back into a armbar. Ultimo picks a leg with his free arm and turns this into a sideways surfboard for a moment. Back to their feet. Shocker is hurting. He pushes Ultimo in the ropes and is finally able to use Ultimo's energy on the rebound to get that hiptoss escape. Ultimo charges with a clothesline, Shocker catches him and goes for a Shocker Bottom, FUJIWARA ARMBAR ON THE ARM HE WORKED FOR 5 MINUTES! That Ultimo, he's a smart man. (5:10) Here's a replay - Shocker got out of one hold to end up in a worse one seconds later. Champion is down 1-0. Break.
Shocker is still showing left arm pain - I figure that'll be a constant. He wants to go on, of course. He came in wearing an elbow pad on that arm that I didn't think to mention till now, but there you go. Ultimo charges Satanico and connects on a back elbow on the arm. Quickly going for an armbar but Shocker's got his foot on the ropes - so Ultimo just pulls him away from the ropes. Ultimo tries for a cross armbreaker to finish this quick but Shocker does everything he can to try and make sure Ultimo can't fully extend that arm, and succeeds. Ultimo gives up, but holds on to the armbar. Running armbar takedown! Fans are getting on Ultimo a bit here, thinking he might have this. Another running armbar takedown. Shocker can't lift himself off the mat. Loud SHOCKER chant. Another running armbar takedown is blocked at the last moment by Shocker, and he somehow manages to pull of a pumphandle powerbomb (or something close to that) on Ultimo. Lovely high kick to Ultimo's face - and again - and again - and again. Those are nice. Shocker going up - top rope clothesline one two three (2:11) Hey, it's not a title match without the obscenely short fall - at least this one went two minutes. Fans go nutty for Shocker tying this up. Replay shows Shocker was smart enough to hit that clothesline with his good arm.
Third fall. Both are slow to come out of their corners - Ultimo is holding his head. Shocker seems to be doing better with the arm. The referee is over to check on Ultimo, who's slowly collapsing to the mat. Ultimo pushes his way free of the referee - he wants to continue here, even though the fans wouldn't mind seeing him end this now. Here we go - Ultimo slap, Shocker slap. Ultimo slap, Shocker slap. Ultimo slap misses, Shocker back with a flurry of punches leading to a big right to the face. Ultimo in the corner, Shocker charges with a running shoulder to the midsection. Shocker backs up again - running right into an Ultimo boot. One two NO. "SHOCKER SHOCKER etc" Shocker charges Ultimo and gets the toss into the turnbuckle. Ultimo charges shocker, but Shocker leaps up and pulls out the corner sunset flip one two NO! Kinda of a slow count that time. Both slow up - Ultimo with a double takedown and a reverse figure four! Shocker's in a lot of pain and can't get to the ropes! It's just an arm reach away but Ultimo is keeping him from moving, even pulling him a little back when eh gets close. Shocker will not give - he's got the ropes! Ultimo keeps in on for the full four count. Ultimo pulls him back in the middle of the ring - but Shocker small packages him one two NO! The referee is doing the Earl Hebner long counts. We look at the crowd and come back to see Ultimo slamming Shocker. Ultimo is going up - MOONSAULT but no one's home! Shocker charges - double leg pickup and run into the corner. Shocker with right hands in the corner, acknowledges the chant, and puts Ultimo all the way up. What's he trying here? It looks like a super victory roll, but Ultimo stands up but Shocker turns around and hits the 'rana. Shocker doesn't cover right away but adds a little splash one two NO! Crowd is going nuts. Especially the old ladies in the second row. Both are slow up but at least Shocker has the whole crowd chanting for him. Shocker with another double leg takedown run into the corner. Putting Ultimo on the top rope - he's playing with fire - this time going straight for the 'rana but Ultimo blocks it. Ultimo sets up - off the second rope powerbomb! one two NO!!! What the HECK. Fans go nutty. I don't think we've seen that move kicked out of by anyone on this show. Crowd yells for Shocker even more. Ultimo up first - clothesline takes Shocker down, but Shocker is getting back up - big boot to the back. Ultimo loads him up on the top rope facing out. Back superplex but Shocker falls on top one two NO! Fans thought that might be it. Both slow - Ultimo with a clothesline but Shocker blocks and tries to put on the Circuit Breaker but Ultimo turns him around and Ultimo puts on the Circuit Breaker! This is the new record loud I've heard this crowd on this show - SHOCKER GIVES! (7:10) We have a new champion and his name is Ultimo Guerrero. Double gold! Here's a replay of the finish.
Next Week: Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Super Crazy, Takemura, Black Tiger, Shocker, Dr. Wagner, Ricky Marvin, Virus, Zumbido, Averno, Mephisto and more.
We get to see Ultimo wear his new belt. He's pretty happy about it. Shocker is sad. Score one more for the rudos. Ultimo really needs a small belt. Shocker wants the handshake - Ultimo gives it. Hand raised. That's it.
Rating: Bases on the quality of the finish, ring work, internal/external storyline, consistency and my whims. Also, various other (random) factors that I can't think of right now. 0-100 for matches.

Closing Notes:
1. Shocker is such the MAN for allowing himself to get pinned by his own
move - he's still gonna be SHOCKER to everyone but it makes the win and the
match mean so much more - and hopefully demands a rematch, because I'd really
like to see one.
2. The Vamp/Rey match that was hyped to this show DID happen - just not on
TV. Apparently, the stiff strike-based style they were working didn't go over to
well with the live audience, who were expecting more of a traditional lucha
match. I'm guessing it got cut because of that reaction.
3. I'm still not sure if Silva turned heel.
4. I am sure that I really would like to see Apolo/Satanico full length.
5. We start the Winter Break after this show - nothing from Arena Mexico till
Feburary, as far as this TV show is concerned.
