Gamespot has a great piece (4 pages) on the logistics of getting 40 WWE people in recording studios for SmackDown! vs RAW soundbites. And the guys themselves. (I’ll get to work soon)

God actually prefers Johan

Is Curt Schilling’s 740 outs more important than Rivera’s 240 when the season is over? That’s for a higher entity to decide – Gammons, 09/12 A higher entity? I’m personally hoping higher entities have better things to do than to decide who gets a silly trophy. (Unless God is Bill James. Then it all makes … Continue reading “God actually prefers Johan”

(Unless God is Bill James. Then it all makes sense.)

The great thing about the article is it’s presented as Gammons plays as if he’s going to actually pick someone to win an award, but just lists a whole bunch of names without associtated himself with a particular one.

TPI Preview

You should go read Scott’s TPI preview now. Lot of work, and all of it great. I believe this is the full list of his odds: 2-1 Samoa Joe 3-1 Arik Cannon 3-1 C.M. Punk 5-1 A.J. Styles 5-1 Bryan Danielson 6-1 Petey Williams 7-1 Chris Hero 10-1 Alex Shelley 10-1 B.J. Whitmer 11-1 Austin … Continue reading “TPI Preview”

2-1 Samoa Joe

5-1 A.J. Styles
5-1 Bryan Danielson
6-1 Petey Williams
7-1 Chris Hero
10-1 Alex Shelley
10-1 B.J. Whitmer
11-1 Austin Aries
13-1 Nigel McGuinness
14-1 Danny Daniels
16-1 Matt Sydal
19-1 Chris Sabin
20-1 Super Dragon
22-1 Roderick Strong
24-1 Michael Quackenbush
25-1 Jimmy Rave
30-1 Rainman
35-1 Double C
40-1 Nate Webb
42-1 Todd Sexton
50-1 Hallowicked
60-1 Salvatore Rinauro

I like Alex Shelly at that number. Danielson may be the greatest thing since his buddy’s finisher, but I think his relative last minute inclusion hurts his chances; Petey or Hero might be better bets.

(I’m not sure if I mean Creative Writing or Game Show, though only one of them was intended that way.) I hope the CSI stuff is precedent here and everyone gets on the same page before it matters.

(Multiple categories. That’s so cute.)

Sven: You probably could’ve wedged Flash into the episode, but it wouldn’t have been worth the effort. Everything was done so hilariously well – I thought Wonder Pig deflecting the bullet was the topper, but Batman singing the blues was ultimate – I’d be afriad to mess up that kind of success. Plus, the pig searching montage was a nice way for them to get in a lot of cameos.

There is one and only one candidate in the NL MVP race: He plays left field for the San Francisco Giants and his name is Barry Bonds. (Neel/Page2)

The anti-Bonds MVP media talk has started the anti-anti-Bonds MVP media talk. I think that means I was way before my time.

(Trachsel has a no hitter thru 4 and the Mets announcers are on it already. Edit: It’s already over, not making it 5.)

WWE Announces $1,000,000 Tough Enough

The prize is actually a four year deal for $250K. What an odd way to celebrate 23 some months left on Mark Henry’s deal. Entrants are limited to men.

After selecting the eight finalists for the $1,000,000 Tough Enough, the official competition will be held weekly on WWE SmackDown! on UPN (Thursdays, 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT) beginning this October. The eight contestants will train with Tough Enough Trainer Al Snow, and then appear on WWE SmackDown! to undertake specific tasks to show why they are worthy to be Tough Enough Champion. Each week, a contestant will be eliminated based on fan voting leading up to the finale on December 16 when the winner is declared.

YES! Al! I totally thought he was going to get screwed here. (And there’s still time.)

12/16 is the final, seven weeks of eliminations – how the heck can you train someone in seven weeks? Get real or get trained people – means it’ll go

11/04 – 8 left (starting)
11/11 – 7 left
11/18 – 6 left
11/25 – 5 left
12/2 – 4 left
12/9 – 3 left
12/16 – final

Given 3 weeks of casting (press release says LA, Miami, and Dallas, what random and anti-NE choices) means it’ll start showing up around 10/14, I’d guess. Diva Search ends 9/13, and I’m surprised they didn’t make the gap shorter.

If I were them, I’d start a week sooner and make Thanksgiving an off week of some sort. They do the same in every other facet for that week.

I’ll be covering Tough Enough in some shape or fashion.

te4million

FWIW, I got most of my thoughts out of my system over on the W (though it’s mostly “why money instead of a contract” thing) and here while talking about the last WWE phone confrence. (I suspect it and the Diva Search will be major topics during this one, as well.) My blind guess on … Continue reading “te4million”

My blind guess on the prize being $1,000,000 million is $250,000 brought them no main stream press for the Diva Search, so they’re uping the ante in hopes that someone in the Access Hollywood/Entertainment Tonight world will care.

I enjoy the amount only because Meltzer’s been hammering the “$1,000,000 would easily support 2 or 3 developmental territories for a year” for months and they’re giving it all to one person. His mind is going to be blown.

I’m sure this is going to tick off all the WWE wrestlers and many ex-ones, but I don’t think WWE cares in the slightest.

I wonder if they’ll let indy guys in?

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a catch to the $1,000,000, so I want to hear the annoucement myself.
