Conflict: Denied Ops (The W at Amazon) ( gamestats): the battle for Venezuela! Oddly does not include Ozzie Guillen firing at people indiscriminately. There’s big ads for this game but no reviews, which is always a bad sign. The fan reviews of the game average around 5.0, and the previews note it’s was significantly lesser than previous games in this series.

1) put Final Fantasy X-2 on your Gamefly queue, just to fill out the list
2) let it move up the list until Gamefly jumps over two (2!) other games to pull it for you
3) play the opening stage of the game
4) realize your heart has gone on from this particular story
5) realize characters upgrade their abilities based on what dress they wear
6) sit in stunned silence about the course of events leading you to play video game dress up
7) realize you are actually not 14 year old girl (ignoring blog post to the contrary)
8) immediately stop playing game
9) let game sit next to PS3 for weeks while attempting to convince yourself “It’s a Final Fantasy game, it’s gotta be better”
10) become irrationally angry at the game for not being better, while continuing not to actually play for it
11) eventually look at your credit card bill and remember not playing games cost just as much as playing them
12) throw the game in the return envelope when you’re heading to the post office for something else.
(bonus: go buy Burnout Paradise and regret not having gotten that much sooner.)

There’s a longer post about playing older Final Fantasy games on my DS that should’ve been written months ago, but it didn’t quite happen. Maybe I’ll get it out of my head at some point.

Gamefly sent me a Warcraft Free For 15 days for DVD. For my own sanity, I’m not sure if I’m going to open the envelope.

I’m trying to convince myself that, had I ever gotten the snowblower to work, it’d be busted by now. I know my shovel scooping mechanism is feeling broke by now.

Good thing I voted this morning (where election officers were wondering if anyone would actually use the Green party ballot.)

better get lunch before the blizzard comes

I said NO MORE SNOW. What is this, snowing during the Superbowl (two years running?) causing near death experiences on the way home and my car to get stuck eight feet away from it’s garage? That’s not cool, that’s not what we discussed. Not a big fan of the fog either.

I almost lost my mind when I heard it might snow three more times in the next seven days, though it looks like it’s down to “maybe raining twice”. I can deal with that, for a while.

note to people who desire less anguish than I go thru: if you’ve been having problems with Pillar Box type sidebars on burnt DVDs and you want to see if you’ve figured out the problem, DO NOT USE A PS3 TO CHECK. It refuses to stretch the video, so those pillar boxes will be there regardless and if you’ve forgotten this, you’ll have a hard time to realizing you’ve solved the problem. A really hard time, until you think to just use a normal DVD player.

So obvious. So dumb. So happy this is over and I can start burning things again.

If a certain boxing match got many words in non-boxing newsletters about the parallels in building up a battle, I think this feud deserves 18 pages. I’d pay $40 for the payoff (if they got some writers.)
