Andre Johnson (knee sprain) is being called doubtful for Week 3.
“We’ll know more in the next couple of days,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “There was no swelling, but there’s definitely a sprain there. It’s a concern right now.” An MRI revealed an MCL sprain, meaning Johnson could miss anywhere from one week to several weeks.

week 7 (the fun begins)
Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is “very, very hopeful” that WR Andre Johnson will be available for Week 7 against the Titans.
Andre Johnson says doctors have told him his knee sprain is a six-week injury, and wasn’t optimistic when asked Wednesday about his chances of playing against the Titans in Week 7.
6+2 = 8. Week 8 had similar hints and denials, but I can’t find them.
Andre Johnson (knee) declared himself “85 percent” recovered and added that he could play Sunday against the Raiders “if I had to.”
Following practice Thursday, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said it “sure looks like” Andre Johnson will be able to play against the Raiders Sunday.
While coach Gary Kubiak indicated after Thursday’s practice that Andre Johnson has a good chance to play Sunday at Oakland, the Houston Chronicle reports the people around Johnson are telling him to sit out.
There’s an obvious and agonizing disconnect about medical info in Houston. The impression I’ve gotten, from reading coverage of the Texans, is it’s more the team trying to rush Johnson back too soon. They’re losing and they need all the help they can get on offense, the urge is understandable. But you got to know what’s actually happening before you announce something, and Kubiak announcing something that won’t happen twice is sign of something wrong going on here.
Also, it’s screwing my lineups and I would like them (and St. Louis with Stephen Jackson) to stop already.
