ECW on Sci Fi #1

here For the techinical reasons mentioned in the last post, this will likely be my one and only recap of this show. The show itself was just A Show – it was completely missable but didn’t annoy me in any way I wasn’t already prepared for.

Uh, if I can’t get the show, that’s bad, right?

Sci Fi got bumped to digital cable on Comcast in Chicago last year to
– make room for the Golf Channel (due to pressure?)
– get all the Sci Fi fans to cover to digital cable they wouldn’t otherwise need
– because they were bored that day

Digital Cable has always been wonky at my place since it got installed, and this time, it’s being wonky by not loading the Sci Fi channel at all. I’m just perputally stuck at a loading screen, which isn’t very good.

Since I’ve tried all I can and there’s no way calling Comcast would actually fix anything, my current plan is prayer and/or stealing a copy off the ‘net. Recap will be delayed but I hope to have it done at some point – but they’d have to do a blow away show for me to put up with this on a weekly basis.

Update: I wasn’t able to tape the show, so I’m waiting for a torrent to download. SHHHH don’t tell.

ECW One Night Stand

Scott’s recap: I’m not exactly JAZZED about the new ECW, but I’m interested, which is a big step up for my wrestling involvement in the last six months. I’ll watch, which is good enough. I wouldn’t say this show was worth 40 bones, but frankly I don’t think there have been many wrestling PPVs I’ve … Continue reading “ECW One Night Stand”

Runner up: 3B A-RAM (2 H, 2 RBI, R)

Sliding Scale: Bynum took a walk, did not strike out, got double switched out of the game. That’s a heroic performance for him.

Why didn’t Dempster work for a week? If he’s a good pitcher and not just a guy they use to fill up one column on a scoresheet, I’m sure there were innings for him.

I think we’re heading towards Womack getting a good deal of starts when Derek comes back. So sad. I know OBP is important, but this team has very little power with Lee gone and A-Ram’s performance this season; it’d be nice to have someone get a double a bit more often. (0 XBH last night.)

Even with a win, I’ve kinda lost my enthuse for this enterprise. Maybe I’ll get back if they can win two in a row again.

Cubs only have 3 good starters (and maybe 5-ish hitters if you add up fractions), they might as well have a young guy get blown up rather than Rusch, they steadfastly refuse to take walks, blah blah blah blah – this is all nothing new. I fell asleep during this game and that was likely for the best.

06/07 WWE vs ECW (2)

Scott has a recap too! Angle’s promo was about how he’s totally ECW now. This is kind of the thing where people hear the Ramones or the Clash and then they act like they actually like the Exploited too. I don’t really know how that applies, actually, I just wanted to say I don’t like … Continue reading “06/07 WWE vs ECW (2)”

If he got enough feedback, I think we could get him to do the ECW TV show, for all 13 weeks it lasts. COMMENT.

Runner Up: John Mabry (2 H)

I am SO tired and this game seems like a million billion days ago right now.

This was a momentum killer. The Cubs really could’ve/should’ve swept this series; the Astros only got 2 earned runs the whole way. As usual, particularlly with the Astros, the Cubs find a way to look horrid against a medicore pitcher.

Marshall pitched fine, but the Astros visibly have as many hitting problems as the the Cubs right now, so everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. I don’t feel like looking back at it now, but it seems like he’s had a slightly soft schedule – but he’s a rookie, so they should be doing that.

Plz don’t let Arroyo hit another HR. Thanks.
