Getting beat by Nolasco, Pinto, Wellemeyer is wonderful when we’re running short of quality pitchers. It’s also a reminder how bad the Juan Pierre () trade has gone; they still would’ve had to made deals to end up with 40 men on the 40 man roster, and if Pinto wasn’t ready to contribute to the Marlins til this week, he probably wouldn’t have been called up to the Cubs. To be honest, it was a yet another boring blowout game which I turned away from to watch 24, and didn’t feel I missed much (except A-Ram’s home run.)

This Wood start, and Kerry’s ability (or not) to make the next one should probably tell us all we’re going to need to know about his season. I’d be that he still is hurting, and we’ll see how bad and if he can keep doing it. It’s a tough position for him; don’t want to go into free agency with a hurt arm, but is going into free agency having not pitched much to avoid hurting an arm really better? He’s got to be good and he’s got to be durable – so he’s got to start it tonight.
