Need to get to write a couple things, but I’ve been trying to catch up on laundry and clean things off my TiVo. (It looks like I’m going to be out of town 13 of 17 days, which is driving me insane.)
The weirdest thing ever has to be Korn doing a completely random appearance on Monk. And explaining the plot!
The most annoying thing ever is 94.7 going to a hard-er rock, Korn-ish based playlist of late. iTunes has this as their top 20:
- Before I Forget Slipknot
- Dirty Little Thing Velvet Revolver
- Just Like You Three Days Grace
- Cold Crossfade
- Passive A Perfect Circle
- Nymphetamine Overdose Cradle of Filth
- Die Dead Enough Megadeth
- Save Me Damageplan
- Not Falling Mudvayne
- Feelin’ Way Too Damn Good Nickelback
- World so Cold Mudvayne
- What Drives the Weak Shadows Fall
- Because of You Nickelback
- Alive Kenny Wayne Shepherd
- Straight out of Line Godsmack
- Prayer Disturbed
- Re-Align Godsmack
- The Clincher Chevelle
- Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) Chevelle
- Another Brick In the Wall, Pts. 1, 2 & 3 Korn
It’s not even it being “eh”, it’s how different it seems from three-six months ago. I guess it’s a good thing I finally got North Central’s neat college radio. (“from Chicago – to Naperville!”) on one of my buttons and it’s not like I’m listening to as much music radio now.
I haven’t talked about Loyola Basketball, uh, jumped off the bandwagon four games in the season, but they’re dangerously close to getting the 10 wins I had hopes for. I happened to catch their game versus UWM on Thursday – they were ahead for a lot of the game vs a NCAA tournament team, and just collapsed during the last seven minutes. When the team is based around three sophs, that’s gonna happen and you just try, take the good parts from the game and hope they don’t let it carry over to the next game, especially since it’s second place UWGB.
They might have started out in a funk, but a 24-0 run in the second half kinda won the game for them. This is the second time they’ve killed the second place team, too, and the relative evenness/mediocrity of the Horizon League is leaving quite a bunch as they come down to the wire.
1 Wisc. Milwaukee 12-2
2 Wisc Green Bay 9-4
3 Illinois-Chicago 7-5
4 Wright St. 6-7
5 Cleveland St. 6-7
6 Detroit 6-7
7 Loyola (IL) 6-8
8 Butler 5-8
9 Youngstown St. 2-11
That 3 slot, which I believe anyone down to Butler can still get, earns a bye to the quarterfinals. (1 and 2 get you the semis.) With 16 games in conference this year, UIC is still in control of it and may have to lose out to lose it, but they've got to play 5 games in 12 days, and might drop a little bit more to the pack.
Plus, 4 thru 6 keep you home for the Play-In Game, and Loyola's knocking at the door for one of those. They've got the huge rivalry game at UIC, then at Evansville for Bracket Buster weekend (8th in MVC) and at Cleveland State to finish up. Loyola's problem is they've got a slow schedule leading into a tournament, and they're an inconsistent to begin with. Hopefully they'll work it out.
The tournament should be fun. Might get to see some of it this year.
