Lunch…did not go well. Paying $6.29 for a large Sprite has it’s thrills.

Quick updates

  • Scott’s RAW recap being later than usual was at least partially my fault. I apologize for the mental anguish that might have caused you.
  • I’m so not changing the weights for Tomko and Rosey until they stick with them for two shows.
Sakoda is the mystery wrestler being 1wrestling’s “WWE Releases Another Wrestler”, so I’ll bump him from that list when I get a chance. At least Sakoda went out on a good note.
  • The TNA Index (combining James, Scott and Feely’s recaps into one order list) is updated for the fist time in over two months. Perhaps mostly because I found episode numbers for the PPVs over on TV Tome.
  • I keep meaning to add the latest numbers to that buyrate/attendance chart I put up here a while back, and link it some place better. Hopefully get that done tonight, as well as moving all the different Info pages (hometown/finisher lists, title histories) to they’re own directory
Note to self: put up redirects to avoid lots of 404 linkage problems
  • Someone say something about the changes to individual entry pages. Like, if it hurts your eyes now, you better tell me before I flip this page over to that color scheme.
I wrote that, worked on something else and posted that extended entry Wild Card post without thinking about the results. Hahaha.
  • I came up with a new idea for the background when working on a different aspect of the redesign (theme!) but it requires me to draw decently or find someone to steal a graphic from. The background needs some texture, but I’m just trying not to disrupt the readibilty.
  • I’ve like the white text the less I’ve seen, so I think I’m going to change that. Just haven’t decide what to use, and I’m gonna wait till I fix the background before I do that.
  • Anyone know a good place to get started with mySQL? Or a MT plug in that let’s you turn off/on categories from showing up in the display bar on the inside?
Maybe maybe I google one, hack at the other. But who knows.

stuff I watched

The problem with creating a TV category is thinking up a properly stupid name to file it under. I think I’ve succeeded. JLU: Wait, first TiVo: DOWN. The problem with creating a TV category is thinking up a properly stupid name to file it under. I think I’ve succeeded.

JLU: Wait, first

TiVo: DOWN. If I’ve got a Season Pass for Justice League, couldn’t they send me a message when Justice League Unlimited shows up on the scheduling, letting me know the program’s changing titles and my old Season Pass won’t get the new episodes?

Same thing happens everytime there’s a new season of, say, Amazing Race. Since it’s “The Amazing Race 5”, you’ve got to get set up the recording options again. Setting them up isn’t the problem, it’s just realizing you need to, and that’s why I think they should add a reminder function.

So I missed the first airing of the new episode because of it, and almost skipped the second because I was thinking about TiVo->Tape Maddux’s 300.

JLU: My problem here is that I’ve never really read any DC Comic ever. It didn’t prevent me from understanding what was going on or anything; between what I’ve read on websites and the quicky origin stories which will probably become all too common by the end of this season, but I didn’t get the “Hey, it’s HIM and HIM and HER! Wow, I never thought I’d see them on TV! (and ohmygosh they’re totally ruining them” experience that I guess is the point of adding so many people.

The bits still work – I have no idea who the woman is at the end that convinced him to stick around, but I still understand the concept of “hot woman = good!” – but they don’t really work as well. It wasn’t as much a problem with the original 7, because either I knew them, or I got some time to know them.

I mean, the episode was good and dramatic and only after the battle did I start thinking “Wait – why didn’t they just have the Archer try that to start with? This is what happens when GL isn’t around to lead”, but I didn’t have any particular interest in the guys like they’d had built up with Lantern and Hawk Girl and Flash and Batman*. The guest stars in the episode were fine enough, but I didn’t really care about them when they were gone (and was actually hoping Captain Atom died, just to show it could happen.)

I’m kinda half expecting every episode to turn into an easy formula
– New people are introduced
– One person has a strong belief about something
– Group goes to investigate something
– Person’s strong belief brings them into conflict with the rest of the group
