That’s what I’ve been waiting to see. Cubs have got control of their own destiny. Hopefully, they’ll make something out of it.

A sinkerballer in Colorado is supposed to work out really well. I guess we see tonight.

No NL game gets started before 7:05 Central today. That’s got to be the latest start of the season for a full day.

The hottest team in the NL right now is…the Expos, who are 8-2 in their last 10, giving them a big 9.5 game lead on Arizona. Among teams that matter (Colorado’s similar surprising record excluded), Houston has won 7 out of it’s last 10, picking up ground on all the other Wild Card team and making various people look dumb for mocking them. I expect them to get closer before it’s done.

It’s nice to see, outside the Cardinals wild ride, the NL Central has ended almost reverting to form. Houston’s hot streak has boosted it up to third, leaving a more familiar order than early on in the season.

1 Cardinals
2 Chicago
3 Houston
4 Milwaukee
5 Cincinnati
6 Pittsburgh

Speaking of the battle for normalcy, it looked like Baltimore and the Blue Jays were going to change the eternal AL East order by reaching unexpected levels of ineptitude, but things have tightened back up thanks to the Devil Rays returning to Devil Ray form.

BAL 18.0
TOR 19.5

If Vernon Wells is out for a while, making up those 3 games might be a bit tough. I’m kinda surprised they’re this close, as it is.
