Wrigley Expansion

Don’t really want to talk about the game, though we were due a loss since we’ve run out of power the last few days. But what was interesting today is the Cubs going back to their expansion plans; they’ve wanted to turn across the street to a tourist destination/extra facilities area for quite some time. The rooftop stuff got them distracted; part of the plan is to expand the bleachers, which would overhang the sidewalk. Neighborhood groups weren’t thrilled with the idea of having the area underneath being perpetually in shadow for safety reasons, and support beams on the sidewalk for drunk wandering people reasons. Looks like on the third try, the Cubs might have addressed those problems.

I think the new building will be nice, but I’d prefer brick over glass. It’s a drop in the ocean of parking problems around there. Anyone still left from the current group is going to be thrilled to have real batting cages and an indoor pitching mound if they get this done. But even if it gets approval, it’s not going to start till after next season, so who knows.

Hey Scott, can I steal your baseball blog for a week if the O’s have made you give up already?

Impact #3

Scott watched, which is good, because I haven’t bothered to do so since the first week. No stories, no one I really care much about (yes really), and I can already get my six minute match weekend fill, usually done better. So it’s just a pile of eh.

Feely’s got you covered

Random thoughts about the show:

“being fired from CNBC for being a loud mouth wrestler” is sure one way to say it. Obviously, they’re rallying around Bradshaw, so he’s far more likely to be pushed as way to rub it in people’s faces than being punished for what happened. (And hey, you need a reason to stretch this out for another month, because another challenger still hasn’t been set up.) How many non-internet fans actually knew Bradshaw was fired? Is this something people care about? Especially given Bradshaw’s take on their ratings. It’s all kinda moot because Bradshaw turned in such a good promo, it would’ve been a mistake if they didn’t address it.

Anyway, best promos come from the heart. At least JBL believes in himself.

Charlie Haas is going to break up with Rico and Jackie now, right? It’d be a waste of the build if they didn’t spend a month addressing it. They’re not spending a second explaining why Undertaker and Paul Bearer were reset to the mid 90s, so it’ll probable be a waste.

Heyman sure set up a lot of props for things he’s not going to have to use if everything goes right. Amazing someone who’s not even part of the brand gets so much talking time.

Shannon’s smart enough to stand so his tattoo gets focused on in the picture. One day, Funaki will get a match on SmackDown! not because he ticked someone off.

Not only is Kenzo Suzuki filled with rage, but apparently he uses a time traveling device to visit each week from the feudal era. I like how every undefeated streak involves beating Scotty and Spike. They love them monster evil guys. Probably be more helpful if Mordecai, Suzuki, Luther, Tomko and others weren’t just the same people in different outfits. I think the E’s idea is all identities should be reduced to three word descriptions, but it really makes for a lot of boring television.
