Well, okay, now I just save some time and only check the site when Primer posts the link to Gammons’ new column. I’m already getting more baseball coverage with the premium site I do pay for.

I don’t want to be rude, but besides the musician/rumor dude, the free side now has this collection of a suckatitude
– Phil Rogers, who I avoid in my paper
– Jim Caple, who you can mad lib quite easily by now
– Buster Olney, who only makes me care in the “I can’t believe they’ll publish ANYTHING”
– Jayson Starks And His Wild World Of Trival Numbers
– Kurjian articles, which are only good for reading in his voice.
– and a host of others I don’t know or care about

Enthralling. And on a page that has fifty million sidebars.

Neal over on Page2 actually is the best baseball columns left standing on the domain. Who’d thunk it.

I used to subscribe to Jim Baker’s newsletter before he hit went Insider last season, and like many a baseball dude, Neyer was The One when I started reading all the stuff on-line, but when there’s so much stuff – if not as good, than sometimes better – out there for free on baseball, I’m not sure why I’d pay.

Wait just a second!

[Baseball Prospects/Welcome] Hi. My name is Jim Baker.

That explains that now, doesn’t it? I think this turn out well for ME and my sub to BaseballProspectus, so okay.

everyone else says duh

On the Dan Patrick, an person knowledgeable about the NBA talked in reference to last night’s game, agreeing that referees expect scrubs to come in and foul, so they’re usually called for fouls, and superstars will not be fouled out unless it’s a no doubt. That’s nothing new. The twist: the knowledgeable person was former NBA referee Hue Hollins. (If you’re from here, you know him as “’94, Game 6 vs NY, Pippen ‘fouls’ Starks)

Dan gave Hollins multiple chances to back away from what he said, but Hollins mostly talked himself in circles and stayed with what he believed.

The next 12 SportsCenters and any NBA action will mention and include clips of this, but you should grab the ~10 minute interview off ESPNRadio.com (probably up around 3:15 CST) to hear the whole thing yourself.

I had an urge just to tune away for a bit, because I felt sorry for how bad this man was burying himself and his former colleagues. Came off as validating all the biased refereeing complaints the NBA has denied and denied for so many years.

WONific

Justin’s Heat recap is over on WON. I forgot to make this horrible joke when I saw theCN’s post, but I think when Matt’s Son Jeff Hardy comes back from the future, he’d have to use his new found telepathic abilites to control an evil virus from the future that infects his arm and threants his whole body. (That’d explain the PAINT! and the mental issues.) What? I told you it was horrible.

Also, check on their Velocity recap. I think that dude makes an effort to be very dry when he fills in, though I’m not entirely sure why.

Scott’s TUESDAY features his take on NWA-TNA’s chances with Impact!, after having listened to Tenay on WONLive. This post is really WONific. Ah, there’s my title.

bulldogs hate spicy food

The big news from Japan: Curry Man is out hurt! Katsuhiko Nakajima gave him a bulldog, and Curry yelped in pain before being taken from the ring. This puts a real dagger in his chances of a fifth place finish! While I hope he’s okay (and not just so I’m not a jerk), if Daniels … Continue reading “bulldogs hate spicy food”

While I hope he’s okay (and not just so I’m not a jerk), if Daniels has to sit out the rest of the tour, it probably won’t affect the Super J tournament much. They’re booking him in the bottom half of the tournament, so they could probably get away with him forfieting the rest of his matches (except maybe the one with Naruse for point reasons?) Also, Jado, Gedo, Takemura and Minoru Suzuki are already working some shows in the tour and could just take over his spot, losing equally well.

Nakajima probably wanted a bigger buildup to his first win, but hey you’re 16 and you’re profesionally wrestling, you got enough. Actually, I bet they’ll do the “I don’t really consider it a win, the way it happened”, and they’ll build up to him having a True Win later on. Hopefully much later on.

I sure hope it’s only a concidence Daniels got hurt against the green 16 year old, but somehow, I don’t have faith.

The real problem comes on 6/5, when American Dragon and Curry Man are scheduled to defend their Jr. tag team titles against Jado and Gedo. I suppose if Curry is out still by then, they might just put Rocky Romero in the match and push the actual title match back to a later date.

There’s that other little problem for their 6/5 show with the other title match – as hinted since he lost in K-1 (and perhaps planned before?), Bob Sapp is vacating the IWGP title. Tanahashi’s opponent is up in the air. At one point, Tanahashi vs Nakamura was mentioned as a backup plan, but Nakamura’s not due back for a week later and despite both guys buildup, it’s seems more like a match for Tanahashi’s U-30 Title. The idea, as best I get it from far far away, was for Tanahashi or Nakamura or someone to be a credible guy for the belt, but if they’re facing each other, that’s not been accomplished.

Whatever happens next, the only sure thing is Sapp as IWGP champ was a disater.
