personal messages to the ones I, uh, think read this

Hey FLEA, when you write “I’m going to do something interesting real soon!” and then you disappear two weeks, a reader might think you’re just screwing around with them, and that you’re really not going to be any interesting at all! Hey FLEA, when you write “I’m going to do something interesting real soon!” and then you disappear two weeks, a reader might think you’re just screwing around with them, and that you’re really not going to be any interesting at all!

Any minute now, I’m going to stop checking 1whatever to see if you’ve done whatever it is you were that (and miss out on my opportunity to probably be disappointed but I’m willing to take the chance.)

It’s not that I need you to tell me what’s good and bad (that’s Justin and Scott) because I don’t agree with you at least half the time, but you have this strange ability to make me disagree with you but aren’t so out there that I don’t just roll my eyes and click to something else*. Except, this year, you’re disagreeable and disappearable, a devastating combo.

It’s not working out for me. Although whatever kept you from writing before might be what’s up now and I should probably just shut up, but I can’t let it go when I have to visit sites I don’t like just to find out what’s up. It’s a minefield; one wrong click and you’re questioning the need for human existence.

* – kinda like a couple COMPLETE LUDICROUS COLUMNS at my double vowel home today, though I still may yell about them rather than write about matches this weekend

Completely different: If you are a sabermetric internet fan who knows where the worthwhile sites are (or, like me, stalk those sites), you probably knew what I meant when I was talking about a sub site called Clutch Hits.

Sooooo, if you had Clutch Hits, why would change the name? WHY. That’s sillier than 3 days of downtime.

My personal theory is BaseballPrimer took the theory of “there’s no such thing as clutch hitting” far past it’s logical bounds

T: They’re semi-main eventing Shane Douglas in a show around here. I could not believe someone thinks Shane Douglas is a draw. If you’re going to see a show because Shane Douglas is on it in 2004, you’re probably going to the show no matter who’s on it, or you’ll give anyone your money if you’re just kindly asked.

Most indy promoters are in it to meet ex-famous wrestlers and pseudo-famous wrestlers not to actually make money, I figure. Unless they’re wrestling too, because there’s that.

You’d think it’d be a Big Dick Hardcore Tournament? Or if it has to be a tag team tournament, it’s one where only where only big & tall “stand outside the ring and look impressive” types can participant. Otherwise, what kinda tribute can it really be?

Other Black Indy Wrestlers I Can Think Of: Donovan Morgan of IRON and NOAH! Wildside’s Onyx! Quebec’s Onyx! Lots of Chicago based guys who work or used to work for UAPW that no one outside of Chicago know, so I don’t think they really count. Although I’m told Acid Jaz is really good and he looked fine the five minutes I got to see of him. There was someone else who’s name is slipping my mind and I’m gonna – whoever the Black Nature Boy was, if he still wrestles.

I think this is the “what happened to the Black Starting Pitcher” where people have lots of ideas but no one’s totally sure; I’m not sure if the lack of wrestling in the inner city makes as much sense here.

I need to just watch the OMLL tape. I’m wound up today. I need to do a page of Best of CMLL anyway, so I’ll get on that.

New DVDVR, by the way. I was gonna print it out and read through some during lunch today, but then found out I wasn’t going to have a lunch. I was overjoyed.

i love estes

That’s the message I got on my phone around 3:30ish from Mike. It takes a lot for Mike to actually message someone, but a lot was what Shawn was serving up. a lot of suckiness previously

09/25 @ CIN – 9.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB – only 5 batters over the minimum
Today @ CHC – 2.2 IP, 7 H, 9 ER, 5 BB and a HBP

I don’t think he sees it that way. If Estes came in here and pitched good, I think we’d all have died. Mass suicide – there are few things worse than having a guy come to you, kill your team while he’s on it then go someplace else and kill your team in a whole new way. And there are few better than killing him.

This was a hard day to hit! No ball was going to make it out – Corey would’ve had a grand slam and Burntiz wouldn’t have had a face full of door – so you need someone who’s going to leave stuff hanging for line drives. Which is Shawn’s strong point!

The normal fourth and fifth guys on the Cubs rotation may make the All-Star team. What the heck. Was it that long ago when Jon Leiber was our only decent guy? Weird.

more blog to come?
